First time visiting Violette’s Cellar - and we’ll be back! Loved it. From the cool ambience to the unique menu items to the terrific service, it was a great visit. We ordered a few Small Plates items - Violette’s Meatballs, Chicken Pot Pie Empanadas, Baby Kale Salad and Prosciutto & Fig Flatbread - and enjoyed sharing them. Oh, and couldn’t resist the Nutella Cheesecake Cannoli and Cookie Butter Cappucino. And, all were really very good! Looking forward to trying a few new items next time. 👍🏻
Very comfortable, cozy (even though it’s not small). Food was fabulous! Not your usual Staten Island dishes. We went to dinner without the kids, so I would be interested to see if they offer a kids menu. Gets very crowded so I suggest reservations or go a little earlier then usual. We had some food allergies and the wait staff and kitchen were very attentive.
I was very impressed with the food.....it was delicious....looking forward to my daughter-in-law baby shower on the 28th
Amazing food in beautiful restaurant. Very nice staff. Noise level was low so we could actually have a conversation.
Went for brunch. Lots of choices so everyone was happy. Great bellinis! Atmosphere is very cozy, you feel like you are in an old wine cellar.
Stephanie was a great wait person, attentive without being overbearing.
Most important thing... food was excellent!
From the moment we arrived at the empty parking lot and were told we had to valet, to the waitress letting us know that no potatoes or bread came with our egg entrees (who does that?), our mother/daughter/grandmother brunch became an lesson on how to upcharge your customers as much as possible in 60 minutes (when they're already spending a lot on the entrees and drinks). VC is absolutely beautiful inside and we had such high hopes as we were seated but I can't relax at a restaurant when it feels like the servers' mission is to keep asking if you want items that don't come with what you ordered especially when they should come with what you ordered.
Having recently moved to SI from Williamsburgh Brooklyn it has been very difficult to find restaurants that live up to our expectations. Violette's Cellar did just that. The food was delicious and the whole atmosphere was great. Will definitely be going back!
Food and service were excellent. Truly enjoy Violette’s Cellar and keep returning.
Great food, awesome service
I had wanted to come here for awhile. It was great!
Really interesting brunch menu. It was hard to pick 1 thing. I’d definitely go back
Service and drinks were great. Food left a lot to be desired. Everything we ordered sounded/read so much better than it actually was. We had the ahi tuna, which was fine, but I’ve had better pretty much anywhere I get tuna, and the pork belly to start. Pork belly was either overcooked or cooked incorrectly- again, I’ve had better pretty much anywhere I’ve gotten pork belly. My fiancé had the chicken parm which he said was fine, and I had the salmon with mushroom and cavatelli. The mushroom and cavatelli part were actually good (if maybe a little sweet, but flavor was good). My salmon was probably cooked for what felt like 20 mins too long. It was so overcooked and dry it was inedible. None of our food was terrible or bad, but I won’t be going back. I’d rather spend my money elsewhere.
Hair in our dish, mussels were smelly. Dry lettuce on flatbread. Meatballs were good. Shrimp was excellent
We went on the day of the Superbowl and it was not busy at all. When we got there only one table was occupied. When we left only 4 tables were occupied. The waitress was friendly and gave us everything we needed. It was really nicely decorated and it felt comfortable in there. The only negatives I would give would be that it was only us and one other table and the time our food took was a really long wait. We didn't mind we weren't in a rush but waiting that long with noone there I could only imagine if it was a full house how long we would have to wait. My only other negative would be even though the food was really good and the serving size is filling, it is not a serving you would expect you were getting with the price tag. Maybe if they cut back on other things like the overly decorated to go bags or the more expensive plastic to go containers they would be able to lower the cost of the food. I would definitely go again but only for a special occasion it was to expensive to make it a regular spot.
Thoroughly enjoyed great food, the service was wonderful and the ambiance charming! I will be back for more.
Nice place, but nothing outstanding. Toasts too dry, sauce missing, no coconut/ almond/ soy milk. Cappuccino looks like latte. Noisy. Lots of families and kids.
Service was phenomenal. Atmosphere was nice (sat in wine room, very tiny space though). Food was okay, ordered multiple small plates: 2 were good, 2 were not. Wine was okay, many of the nicer selections were unavailable. Had great time.
Got together with some friends for a fundraiser/meatball tasting. Food was delicious and speciality drinks made by his mixologists were on point. Peter and his partners raised a huge amount ($65,000 ) to help fund Staten Island University Cancer Foundation. What a great event and an amazing Chef. Peter is a special man who always seems to extend his heart and generosity to help others. Great evening Great event!
Love the ambiance of this place, really different and cool. Enjoyed the night with my friends. Would go back
Beautiful dishes! Very tasty!
Amazing!! Looking forward to trying dinner.
It was great!
Nice ambiance. Great staff! Food was good, tapas style so very small plates. Pricey.
Atmosphere.. food .. and our waiter Kevin were all awesome !
Fun spot for a friends eve. Lots of good plates to share and yummy cocktails. Space is subterranean chic.
This is my 2nd time eating at the establishment. Loved the food the first time. This time did not care for it as much.
New Year’s Eve dinner
The mac and cheese was great..so was chicken and waffles! Great selections for drinks. The creme brulee dessert was good too
Food and service could not have been better. Rave about Violette’s Cellar to family and friends. Have been here many times and will continue.
Great hidden treasure.
Amazing as always!! Interesting, delicious choices! Great drinks and really nice servers!
Service was very good and was able to answer questions about the food. The food was very good as we ordered small plates to share and they bought them out at different times so you were able to enjoy what were eating we had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend going as we will be going back again ourselves.
Very romantic place. Service and food were great! We will def be back!
Food was delicious! The place was pretty empty and still out wine took a while to get .. also waitress did not tell us about Wednesday all day happy hour and 3 for 2 plates .. we had to ask about it and still she was not clear . Had to look it up to make sure online.. a waiter or waitress should readily provide that info right away .. other than that it was great and I’d happily return
Food was ok. Nice atmosphere
For tapas prices were average.
Don’t get the steak not worth the price
Went with 10 people for a family bday brunch. Food was outstanding and a very nice setting. Service was a little slow. Definitely a nicer, pricier brunch but everyone was very happy with their food and the yummy croissants.
This place was amazing. The food was delicious, our waitress was friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend Violettes Cellar.
An added bonus is their charitable donations to Staten Island University Hospital.
My waitress was not nice, did not check up on us regularly and the food portions were small. Noted i was going for a birthday and they didn’t even sing. Or push dessert. Would not go back
One year wedding anniversary
This was only my second time going to Violette’s Cellar. This experience was just as good as the first. Staff was attentive and very nice. The food was excellent and love that you can order multiple small plates. We had the meatballs, artichoke bread, and lamb chops. All three were excellent, flavors, cooked, and presented.
