Get heaters. Don’t let your customers freeze and food get cold.
Love Viva Madrid! Been going for close to 20 years!
Our favorite date spot.
Red wine sangria is always amazing.
Not one bad thing on the menu.
My third and final visit. When our fourth course arrived, I finally realized the problem: every dish tasted like leftovers. Some of them not even fully heated. No flavor, no savor, no seasoning to be found anywhere. A big nothingburger—or rather, nothingtapas.
Sangria was delicious only complaint was the cold bread other then that food was delicious . Service was good asked for an extra plate never got it but that’s ok :)
I appreciate the accomodation regarding my lateness!
Overall my experience here is always very good, although it would be amazing if they had more vegan/vegetarian options.
They have built a patio outside so it is really nice! The food is always amazing & so reasonable! I highly recommend Viva Madrid!
A great local spot with authentic Spanish food, finally open again after the Covid shutdown.
Always so good. One of my favorites. A have to go a few times so you can try the whole menu.
Awesome all around, the only bad thing was that my appetizer came at the same time as my meal
Hostess was not amicable also a bit rude, when she heard I had a a reservation asked in a defying way if the second person was there. We were seated and the server messed up our drinks order, I order a wine bottle and she didn’t brought it, I don’t know if the Chef is not the same but the food was different and not tasty as it used to be. The server had extremely poor customer service, she forgot about us like 30 minutes, also we asked for water at the beginning and never got it , is disappointing because it was a great experience before. Not going back for sure.
Viva Madrid has been my favorite restaurant for about 10 years. We go often and the food and service is always outstanding!!
The restaurant built a small patio for dining in the street. Very cute and romantic, but it’s in the street - and we can’t complain as they are doing their best to keep customers safe and business open. Food was amazing, good service, great sangria. Would definitely come back again. Small plates aren’t that small, so order as you go so you don’t over order.
It was the first time our friends came here, and of course it’s not the same during COVID, but the food was still great along with the sangria. We will be back again, hopefully we will be able to eat in indoors next time. The ambiance is a lot better.
Appetizers were good but very small portions. Entrees were not good at all. Steaks were extremely dry as well as the chicken. Potatoes and vegetables had almost no flavor and balsamic dressing over meats was overly sweet and very bitter. Worst meal I've ever overpaid for sorry. Would not go back!
As always, the food was great! Because of COVID, we were eating outside & it was literally 100 degrees outside, so couldn’t give 5 stars for ambiance ( not their fault). It is one of our favorite restaurants! Love ordering tapas & getting to taste several different things.
Server was angry about something and was taking it out on our table. Food was not at the normal Viva Madrid level either. Everything tasted microwaved and half done with no flavor. We will not be returning until we are able to enjoy the actual food made indoors. Hopefully they step up their game.
Authentic Spanish dishes all so tasty. Glad you guys are still open!
This is our favorite restaurant from over the past 15 yrs...and was really disappointed in the food this visit...all our food was cold and you could tell it was sitting out for a while...will we be back? MOST DEFINITELY! have to point out the sangria was on point as always 👌 🍷
I love Viva Madrid! The food was phenomenal! The red sangria with the optional shot of brandy was delicious. The service was awesome. Although, we did not eat inside (I miss the decor dearly), Claremont is such quaint place it was t as bad as I thought it would possibly be. What helped a lot was that the weather was pleasant (after 6:00 pm). And just as a suggestion, if you want their delicious Paella, order it first, it does take a bit to cook. If you live in Claremont or outside of Claremont—visitation to this wonderful restaurant is a must!
We love Viva Madrid! Food is always fabulous & reasonably priced.
Although the ambiance was not ideal with COVID restrictions (outside seating on the side walk), the service was great and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. I have always wanted to dine here, but they typically have a long wait. However, now that they are accepting reservations I will definitely considering coming back because that makes it even more irresistible.
This is a three strikes out Review on service. I have been to this restaurant many times the food is delicious and typically prepared very well, but on our last visit the lamb was very chewy and it took over 50 minutes to get the food to our table.
Our hostess/waitress was very rude screaming at us to put on a mask as we walk through the sidewalk of dining where nobody is wearing a mask and hers barely in her face. Our reservation was for inside dining from the website offering but she rudely said that’s impossible nobody’s eating inside I tried to let her know that the webpage needed to be corrected but she was very bothered that I was taking up her time.
She offered us our table outside by the curb and gave us two glasses of water with no ice. When we asked about the meals she had no advice or knowledge so we ordered something quickly since it was already 8 o’clock and we were very hungry.
She checked all of the table 3x in the sidewalk dining but missed us each time even when I was trying to catch her attention.
This is the same waitress that left me sitting on the curb side pick up three days before for 40 minutes and when I approached her she screamed at me that she will bring it out and then I’m not to come up to the podium. I told her that her behavior was very rude I said in my car until she finally brought it to me and I let her know I had a reservation three days later.
She was very proud to tell me her name was SAGE when she brought the doggie box flopped under the table center as she walked away.
This was not a cheap anniversary dinner but the service sure was. I will not go back for service there again by any means but I will order through DoorDash or GrubHub the food is awesome the service is terrible!
Good was not
First time eating here. Food was delicious absolutely would love to come back. Ambiance wasn’t so great but at least we weren’t in a parking lot we were seated in front of 42nd bagels. Definitely worth coming back.
Indoor dining was closed due to covid, however the food (tapas) and sangria were amazing. Everything I remembered from ten years ago during my first visit.
Ambience can’t really rate with outside dinning. But I will def come again. Drinks were good
Food is delicious service is always great!!
Great as always, but for the time being it looks like you can only be seated outside, which was fine, but the ambience is obviously going to be different. Still a great time and great food, will come back soon.
Outside seating only should really spruce it up for a better dining experience.
Food was great and service was great; very friendly and professional.
The Food is Phenomenal, and Service and Environment is excellent. The hostess was able to accommodate us earlier than our reservation (which I appreciated). Overall it was a wonderful experience. The only slight critique that I have is with the price in relation to portions. The price is what you would generally expect at good restaurants like these, but the portions were smaller than average. For example, we ordered a Spanish garlic shrimp tapas (which was divine in taste), but they only served 3. For $7.50, that's not a very good value, and seems unnecessarily frugal (my wife and I had to fight over the third one). So, you really have to watch what you order, not because they serve anything that is less than delicious, but because you can easily run an $80+ bill for two and not get very full (and my wife and I are not heavy eaters).
Austin was an excellent Chef , i was quite surprised how well be prepared the veggie Paella, very tasty and delicious not heavy at all with just enough salt. It reminded me of my moms Paella and also cuban and Spanish style, skewrs and broiled beef was nicely cooked, the salad and salmon was excellent. I appreciate the inventive drink he made me with cinnamon it was splendid! The viva margarita and peliogrosa were also well made cocktails. The rice pudding given to my pregnant girlfriend as a gift was much appreciated, well be back soon!
Love this place! The chicken skewers weren’t fabulous so maybe avoid those but the mussels were amazing!!! All in all a great place to visit! Especially if you like variety!
We regularly enjoy Viva Madrid and due to this pandemic, we were so anxious to get out of the house. The food was amazing and the service was as well, the tables were spread apart to follow social distancing rules. Making a reservation was simple and checking in was even easier! Very impressed and happy with our experience!
A great restaurant. Some of the best tapas I’ve had outside of Spain. Very nice and friendly staff. Price is very reasonable for the quality you get. I will go back and recommend it warmly.
My husband and I frequently dine at Viva Madrid. We love everything about it!
