We visited this restaurant based on reviews we read online. As locals, we were very disapponted. We have lived here for 20 years. It was our wedding anniversary. The duck was fatty, undercooked, and steeped in runny polenta. My wife ordered the ribeye and it was so fatty she could barely find the steak. I sent the duck back and was offered an alternative. The menu is small so I ordered an eggplant appetizer. It did not taste like baba ganoush so was not edible. When the final bill came, we were charged full price for both entrees, appetizers and very disappointed. We faithfully support local businesses and local farmers and were looking forward to enjoying the restaurant Vivian. Sadly, we cannot recommend.
We love Vivian. It’s one of our fave Asheville restaurants. The food is delicious, the cocktails potent, and the vibe woke.
Innovative, delicious menu - fun, bright setting - a great place to dine.
We went for brunch and had the most delicious biscuits as part of the meal. The coffee was excellent, food was super tasty and surprisingly so even on their classic breakfast. Server was attentive and followed COVID protocols. Can’t wait to go back on next visit to Asheville
Wonderful as usual. The staff was friendly; looking forward to next time!
For dealing with Covid-19, this was an excellent choice. Food was delicious, wait staff attentive and staff adhered to our wishes of trying to maintain as low carb as possible. Had beer instead of wine and fresh from tap. Rain was a bit of a nuisance but not the restaurant’s fault. Will recommend and will definitely return.
Wonderful food and service. Do not be fooled by the neighborhood, this is a very fine restaurant.
Met friends for early dinner on the patio...our waiter was so helpful...explained all and was so upbeat! Dinner quality was right on! We will be back.
A beautiful location.
A nice mix of Southern food with European influences.
Very friendly staff.
First visit...reservations were recommended, required for outside seating. In the Arts District, so plenty to see following Sunday brunch. I had Lamb Eggs Benedict and my wife had Lobster Parfait. Both were delicious and well presented. A Bloody Mary and a Mimosa complimented the meal. Service was helpful and friendly.
Great place for brunch. Great food, great setup for social distancing.
Excellent brunch. Great food and staff in a cool location!
Everything we had here was amazing and the staff was great! Each cocktail was unique!
Vivian is a great authentic Asheville venue with a eclectic mix of patrons. Wonderful ambiance with attentive service and delicious food and spirits. Thanks for a great evening.
Great food and drinks, professional service, never disappoints
The food, fried chicken mashed potatoes and gravy with bacon, wonderful coleslaw and flaky buttery biscuit. The only thing that notched this review on the food from a five to a four is the biscuit did not come hot it was barely warm. The butter that I had asked to accompany the biscuit was not able to melt. When I ordered an additional biscuit for my partner, it came hot! The butter melted beautifully, and the house Jam was excellent.
When I ordered my fried chicken dinner I emphasized for the food to be hot and it was except for the biscuit. If you get a biscuit with your meal there and if it’s important to you that you have a hot biscuit please tell them to bring it to you hot not barely worn. A hot biscuit makes all the difference in the world!
Wonderful brunch with friends. Outdoors, covid safe with great staff. Best devil eggs I have ever had for an appetizer. Very creative menus
My only complaint was the food was not warm. Beautiful quiche and a salad with tiny Briney savory pickles. Great details
Thanks for a wonderful brunch!!!
Outstanding brunch on the outside patio. Great menu with wonderful options and good cocktails.
We always dining at Vivian and enjoy the “crew” who always make us feel welcomed. Brunch is especially a favorite.
Scallops in lobster sauce was to die for as was the duck. My wife wasn't that impressed with the smoked ribs. Service was OK, just not very friendly. Outdoor setting was spare to say the least, indoors didn't look sophisticated at all, not what a $75/pp night would make you expect.
Great vibe, limited menu but everything top-notch. Exceptional wine list.
Excellent service and food. They really pay attention to keeping customers safe and abide by the rules; no mask no service!
Great food and staff. Taking all the necessary precautions for the time.
I wanted to taste everything on the menu. We went for brunch and it was delicious and reasonable pricing for the quality. Cocktails were delish. We had French toast, deviled eggs and lobster parfait. Would go back in a heartbeat to try dinner
Excellent food and service! Would recommend to everyone!
Relaxing evening with wonderful food and beverages. Staff super friendly.
Good break from COVID-19
Lovely meal--impeccable service. A hip RAD setting and a great evening out. Excellent social distancing/safety precautions!
Love Vivian! I had the Summer Salad and the Tile Fish - the salad was fresh tomatoes with peppers and a simple vinaigrette to highlight the fresh veggies. Fish was cooked perfectly - both were delish. My partner had the duck - cooked perfectly and served with a huge wedge salad and fingerling potatoes chips - yum!
We shared a very untraditional eclair for dessert - chocolate with pastry cream and fresh blueberries - very very good!
Highly executed creations. Asheville folks need to be lining up to eat here !
Vivian was a delightful restaurant, with simple yet elegant and perfectly-executed food, delicious and creative cocktails, and excellent, attentive service. Highly recommend!
Breaking out for the first time since March. Never disappointed in Vivian. Staff is great and knowledgeable. The place is really clean and well spaced. Will be back.
Everything was excellent!
This isn’t just my favorite restaurant in Asheville; it’s my favorite restaurant. Period. Came tonight for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend. The duck confit is just ridiculous. So juicy and flavorful and delicious. Everything from salad to dessert to beer was just fantastic. I could not love Vivian more.
We had a wonderful evening at Vivian. Delightful small outdoor patio area with plenty of social distancing yet felt convivial. Our party of 4 shared several of their very tasty small plates plus 2 entrees and enjoyed all of it; choices were with fresh local ingredients and we left full. The wait staff knew the food well as well as a strong knowledge of wines, and the owner happily filled in when we had questions about some bottles outside of their expertise. This location is a bit out of the way even for the River Arts District, but it was relaxing -especially during this time - to be away from the crowds of downtown and there is very easy street parking.
Great food, outstanding presentation and taste. Service was perfect, drinks were very well made. Going to make Vivian’s a regular stop, can’t pass it up - it is so very good.
Great food, atmosphere, and service! Definitely will visit again soon!
As always, Shannon, Chef Josiah, and the entire team executed a perfect experience!
