These wines show complex characters of lemon, apricot and honey. They are Cordon or Cane Cut, meaning the vine branches (cordons) are cut and the fruit is cut off from the nutrients of the rest of the vine increasing the sugars in the grape, often producing a lighter style than Noble rot wines

Riesling
Riesling is an aromatic grape variety displaying a powerful and distinctive flowery aroma. Depending on its provenance, Riesling is perfumed with citrus, apple, pear and stone fruit that frequently mix in mineral elements
Pinot Gris & Pinot Grigio
Classic Pinot Gris characters include honey and fresh butter balanced by a touch of tinned pears and dried apples. Pinot Grigio is often described as having smoky and salty mineral notes, pink grapefruit, melon and lemon, balanced by great acidity
Chardonnay
The Chardonnay grape is vinified in many different styles, from the lean, crisply mineral wines of Chablis in France, to new world wines with oak, and tropical fruit flavours
Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Blends
Sauvignon Blanc is a very aromatic variety that produces the best results when grown in cool regions. Producing wines with a fruity bouquet and clean, crisp mouth feel
Alternative Varietals
Red Wine
Pinot Noir
The aroma of Pinot Noir is often one of the most complex of all varieties. With ripe grape or black cherry aromas, frequently accented by a pronounced spiciness that suggests cinnamon or mint. Ripe tomato, mushroom and barnyard smells are common descriptors for identifying
Merlot and Merlot Blends
Merlot is a red grape that is used both as a blending grape and for varietal wines. Merlot based wines usually have medium body with hints of berry, plum and currant. Its softness and fleshiness, combined with early ripening, makes Merlot an ideal grape to blend with the late-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon
Grenache
Grenache is probably the most widely planted variety of red wine grape in the world. It is generally spicy with dark berry flavours. The aromas are powerful, including menthol, liquorice and black pepper. Because of its strong traits Grenache is usually blended with other grape varietals such as Shiraz and Mourvedre
Rosé
Made from red varietals, the grapes are pressed and left in contact with the skins for fermentation, but only for a little while. Enough time to obtain a pink color and some of the skins characteristics
Red Wine
Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most widely recognised red grape varieties. When ripe, the colours and flavours packed into the thick skins can be remarkable. Each region imparting its own distinct characteristics
Shiraz and Shiraz Blends
In 1831, the Scotsman James Busby, often called "the Father of Australian viticulture", made a trip back to Europe to collect cuttings from vines (primarily from France and Spain) for introduction to Australia. The cuttings were planted in the Sydney Botanical Gardens, and in Hunter Valley, and in 1839 brought from Sydney to South Australia

Very good we both enjoyed our evening. Menu suited us, the setting was good and the staff got it just right. Will definitely be back.
Wife and I arrived early to have a drink at the bar before dinner. Bar attendant had limited/no experience at making gin martinis resulting in one part gin and five parts vermouth martinis with a twist of lemon after a 20 minute wait with the bar nearly empty. The steak selection was two choices but four choices appeared on the menu at Open Table. I ordered a rare steak but it was served medium rare with a sugary dark sauce on top. A large porterhouse steak. I had wanted to order a T-bone but not on the actual menu at the restaurant. The room was rather warm with a lit fireplace. No view of anything inside at this restaurant. Décor needs updating. Hard to believe that the Walnut Restaurant has a 4.5 rating at Open Table.
Used to have meeting. Basically very calm as such good feeling to take but when I went there, party was held in the same restaurant which was noisy for us.
Food was unexpectey good. It has a more traditional menu which has baked Alaska.
We had a late reservation for dinner at the Walnut through Opentable, but it turns out that they don't actually have that time available (10pm). They were not sure how I was able to book it, and the restaurant was closed.
However, the host was kind enough to seat us for dinner and keep the staff there longer even though it was clear they were closed. The service was excellent, and for that I applaud the Walnut. The food itself was nice, especially for it being a late night dinner.
