Waterbar San Diego
Trendy, but the food was very lack luster. Go for the views and drinks, but not the food. The restaurant can’t even decide they type of food they serve. It’s fusion of every nationality. Will not be coming back unless it was just for drinks.
Mediocre experience mostly due to food taste and options.
Service and ambiance/views are impeccable
Food was good nothing special, bit pricey for what we had.
Wonderful oysters, lobster roll & wedge salad with grilled shrimp! Table on the waterfront absolutely perfect. Only complaint was that the service for drinks (not food as it came out quickly) was slow our waitress seemed to have way too many tables.
Food was horrible, and scarce, glasses completelly dirty. I don’t recommend this restaurant.
Waterbar is the best option if you are in Pacific Beach!! Love it
Just for the view, I will recommend this restaurant. Obviously our waitress was overwhelmed. She was not pleasant at all.
The food was ok.
Great view of the sunset. Music, good food and beverages. We will be back
Good food. Good drinks and service. Live band was decent. Great atmosphere.
The server was spectacular!
We brought some out of town guests for dinner with a sunset view- we requested a window table and were seated exactly where I asked. The sunset didn't cooperate but the food and service were awesome. I got a cocktail based on our servers recommendation and was very happy as I wouldn't have tried it on my own. The food was great, the atmosphere was awesome and we will be back again.
Service was patchy, but friendly. Dessert took 35 minutes to come out and it was cold. Overall ok but not great. The fish special had a very thin filet that was about 2 oz, maybe 3 at most. Just wasn’t a great meal overall. Not terrible but not excited to return.
Food was average. Oysters were bland like they had been previously frozen. Other meals were just ok. Good service though which was the only redeeming feature.
We found Waterbar by searching for seafood, but unlike World Famous close by, Waterbar has a very limited seafood menu. We asked the waitress for the portion of the cold $54 seafood platter and she said it would be def. enough for two, if not three. It turns out the portion is much smaller than we expected. We eat normal portions. Just the night before, neither of us was able to finish the normal entree portion at World Famous. And the seafood on that platter tasted extremely bland to the point we wondered whether we would get sick eating their raw oysters and and raw clams.
Food was good, as was the live music. Bring your sunglasses! Our seats were right in the sun.
This place was exactly what we were looking for! Great food, great energy. Most of all, the view of sunset was spectacular. I originally put that I wanted hightop seating in to open table and the hostess put us right on the water instead. (She asked of course)
I like everything but the reggae band needs better microphones. They are really good otherwise.
The music during dinner was way to loud. I’m all for good music but it was like club music while eating salmon. I couldn’t hear 1/2 of my table. And it was a Monday night. Come on people!
Well sad to say but our dinner sucked. We made a reservation in advance since we had about 6 adults and 5 kids.
We got there only to find out they had a special menu for July 3rd. No one every said anything about a reduced menu when we booked. Only a few things and the menu was sssssssooooooooo sad. We expressed our disappointment to the server and she agreed and was sorry that we weren’t notified at time of booking that the menu had be reduced due to upcoming holiday. I’d also like to point out that their own server stated how bad the menu was....! We decided to stick it out considering with kids already hungry it can be difficult to find another spot to accommodate us last minute.
Reluctantly ordered and once the food came all cold. So disappointing!
Amazing experience as usual! The view is incredible, the decor is beautiful and the food is delicious. Sipping a Ganga enjoying the corn fritters is my happy place:)
Nice place but LOUD!
Good mother's day brunch. Food was great and staff was very attentive. My only hold-back is that I noted in my reservation on OpenTable that I requested a water view. After being seated I showed the hostess my request on OpenTable. She politely denied our request. It would have been good to know 'up front' before being seated that our request couldn't have been accepted. I suggest that front-of-store employees review any notes on OpenTable reservations and respond to them at the time we're being seated. Thank you.
Perfect location for our Easter brunch. Liked the special menu and service was excellent.
Always like breakfast here because its never busy at 9/10am and I really like the Avacado toast.
Overall atmosphere was good service was good the food was so so. Felt like they just cooked it didnt put any flavor or love in the food!
We booked our reservation through Open table two days before our reservation. We received confirmation of our booking from you through email. When we went to the restaurant for dinner they did not have our booking. Although I showed them the email confirmation I was sent from open table they were not receptive. They finally agreed to put us in a table right by the entrance, we asked if we could have the vacant table at the window and they said no it was reserved. We reminded them that we also had a reservation and that we had in fact booked it two days in advance. They refused. We left and did not eat there.
What's not to love? Wonderful seafood, a spectacular seaside location and terrific service make this a place you'll love -- and if you're not in the mood for seafood, you can order a hamburger instead!
The view is amazing and the food was quite good. The noise level is simply "loud", well beyond energetic. It was very difficult to have a conversation in the 4 person semi-circle booth. Live music is not really necessary and it really detracts from the overall experience. Once the band was done, it was still loud, but at least somewhat tolerable. I would go back. The fried brussel sprouts were amazing. The fried calamari was delicious too. Two of us had the classic cheeseburger, which was quite good, cooked to perfection and delicious fries. The skirt steak was good but too salty according to my dining partner. The Catch of the Day was Snapper and my other dining companion said that it was delicious. Mix all of that with some great beers - all local brews were $5 that night - and a dry, crisp Rose and in all regards it was a successful evening. I would go back if I lived in the area.
We looked for a place in pacific beach near the water and found the Waterbar on line so we made reservations. Easy enough! The menu was limited but food was good. It was fairly busy on a Thursday evening 6:30 but there were empty tables. Our biggest complaint was the noise level. The 2 piece band was extremely loud making conversation very difficult.
Great appetizers and tacos, loved the beet salad and the fried Brussel sprouts. Cool spot, more of a nightclub feel then beach but we thought the food was really good.
Great Views, Food and Service are just what PB needed. Good music, but the heavy bass overpowers the lyrics on their sound system and conversation can be a challenge. but other than that we'll be back.
Amazing service! An awesome dining experience
Food was REALLY average. SUPER noisy. Requested a window table a week ahead. They called at 3:20 PM the day of our reservation (which was at 7:00 that night) and said, "We are having a big corporate event that is taking up half of the restaurant. We won't be able to give you a window table, would you like to come another night?" Uh....no. When we got there they offered a window table right next to a really loud band or a table in the back corner near the area where you check in. All the servers gather near the host desk and yack so it was even noisier there. We weren't expecting a quiet place but everything about this place kinda sucked, except the view, which we couldn't see anyway. Super disappointed. Thought PB had finally found a great new place.
We made a reservation here and when we showed up for it, we found out the restaurant closed at 4pm that day.
We were there Christmas Day for dinner. There were few servers, which was fine as there was not much crowd. However, the server missed several details, and the experience could have been much better.
Zac was one of the best servers we have experienced in sometime. Good original flavors and a variety of options to chose from. Definitely recommend the restaurant and ask for Zac
We ate there on Thanksgiving so not a typical menu, but the food was good and reasonably priced. The location is great if you want something on the beach (although remember this is PB so not upscale). The service was good and I did have something from the regular menu -- fish and chips -- and it was good. I'd go back and I would definitely recommend for sunset.
This is the fourth time I have eaten at the Waterbar and every time the food has been mediocre. The view is beautiful and the cocktails are good, but the food....no thank you. It is expensive, the menu is limited, and every thing I have ordered was terrible.
We made a reservation and were seated promptly. However, no one came to the table to greet us or take our order for at least 35 minutes and the restaurant was not terribly busy. We left at that point and had dinner elsewhere. Disappointing as the ambiance and view were good.
