Whiskeys on the Water

booked the reservation but restaurant was closed when we got there

My husband and I made reservations. Only to stop our plans, drive over an hour and no one was there!!! He called them 4x's, someone FINALLY picked up...only to tell us they are doing carryout.

We were thinking that there would be a view of the water from the restaurant, however, the only view of the water that we saw was from the parking lot.

The restaurant itself is basically a bar inside a well-kept old building so the ambiance isn't as romantic as I had hoped.

Everything else was absolutely perfect! Our waitress, Venessa, was very professional and attentive.

My steak was perfectly cooked and quite a bargain at $22 ($20 + $2 for sauteed mushrooms added on top). My wife enjoyed her chicken entree as well.

Out Manhattans were very good and also the Bordeaux wine was nice.

We will be back.

The restaurant is situated just west of the Detroit River and the water makes an excellent back drop. We ate outside which we wanted and our server was excellent. Only negatives were two dogs that were barking quite a bit (there was a dog walking event down the street from the restaurant, not their fault) and we were told that the vegetable was green beans and we got broccoli. However, we would dine there again without hesitation!

Great service and food. Will definitely be eating there again next time we’re in town.

Great food, outdoor seating was enjoyable. This trip, we ended up with brand new waiter who spilled drinks on us. The manager covered our (new) drinks, so that helped. Overall a good experience. We are regulars and will continue to be.

The waitress took forever to bring drinks and food. Definitely over priced for the food quality

The hostess was extremely rude, and very snoty back to us! We made reservations for 8:15 and then were told we still had a 30 min wait... What is the point of making reservations if you still have to wait 30 mins

The chicken with mushrooms and spinach was outstanding. Burgers looked good too. Great service, a bit loud in the bar area for catching up with friends.

Everything was great except for the bees that were swarming us and the few tables around us.

The food and service were great!! The bees that invaded the patio area not so much🥴

Love the staff and the food is great. Amazing drink choices as well.

We chose to sit outside and there is construction going on to the condos next door. It was very loud and the smell of diesel fuel doesn't make your food taste very good.
No fault of the restaurant, everything else was great.
Going back tonight to see Eva under fire and have diner.

Our waitress was phenomenal and everyone was super friendly. They were constantly cleaning and employees were wearing their masks.

Bees are an issue outdoor but otherwise great!

The host and the server were amazing. Amazing customer service and good vibes and very nice atmosphere.

Food is always great! This time a person in our party had to wait for her food for about 10 minutes after we all received ours but overall it was great. Will be back again. And we loved the outdoor patio.

Not the best experience on 7/18. I ordered a vodka lemonade, which definitely didn't have much vodka in it. Then ordered a burger. Server asked how I wanted it. I orderded "medium". Burger came and was very dry, which is to be expected because instead of medium, it was well done. Once we got our servers attention, my husband was done with his meal so we just had her remove it from the bill. The artichoke dip was good, as was the chili. Overall not a great experience. Will likely go somewhere else next time.

Eating outside was comfortable. The Mac n cheese with pulled pork was very good. Larger than expected portion. Highly recommend it!

Love the atmosphere. Great beer selection. The only drawback was that the waitress seemed new & paid us minimal attention.

Came in to what used to be one of my favorite places downriver to enjoy a night out. The employees were wearing masks incorrectly and NO One who came in was asked to, or wearing a mask at anytime. Tables were closer than 6 feet, bar was wall to wall people.
Our server was exceptionally nice but was not only training, but very busy. When we ordered we were told you were short staffed so food would take longer than expected. True, it was a while but also was incorrect to what I ordered. Now another 25 min later , correct food but guest with me was done eating.
With what I experienced I think it will be a long while before I return.

I have frequented Whiskies on several occasions but my last couple of visits have a lot to be desired. The meal I chose was excellently prepared but lack greatly in portion size. I found it appalling that the Atlantic Salmon came with No sides and each was a three dollar charge. And for the life of me, I cannot understand why the last three occasions, I have been placed in a corner, the same corner table. The time before last, I went in with a friend from out of town. there seemed to be somewhat a riff going on between the hostess and female manager about the Hostess seating us, in the same corner table I might add. In the end, we told that we would either have to back to the front and wait once more or we could sit at the bar. Not exactly where we wanted to have our dinner. It may be awhile before i return to Whiskies....

Whiskey's never seems to disappoint us! The food is AMAZING and the staff is always FANTASTIC! Whiskey's is always one of our go to places.

For being the first week open Things went pretty smoothly. They have adjusted well in this ever changing environment. I hope these added measures don’t cut too far deep into their bottom line so that they can continue to survive and patrons like me can continue to support them.

Great anniversary dinner for my family. The food was awesome. The staff was very personable and took care to make sure our dinners were to our liking. We will be back very soon!

Good food and service. This is an energetic, loud atmosphere which is good for casual dining. It is probably not what you are looking for if you want a quiet or romantic dinner.

Delicious food and appetizers.

We love it there, especially in the summer. Took some friends there, it was their first time and they really liked it. It's nice to see the business so good but the noise level was overwhelming, we couldn't even talk to one another.

Great food and drinks, a little too loud for conversation..

The only thing negative I would say is that the noise level is very high due to the open ceiling. Even before it got crowded, it was hard to hear people at your own table due to the overwhelming echo of voices from all over. I would suggest some type of acoustic absorbers in the ceiling to help this.

Good food at a great price. Nice selection of spirits. Friendly staff.

Flew in for a visit with my sons.

We knew they had a bar element, but it was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation...to top that off we were at the last table by the kitchen. A pony or partial wall would be helpful to muffle some of the sound involved in the dishes being dropped into the bins. We were disappointed that a dish we saw on the online menu wasn’t available in the current menu.
