The Wicked Oyster
Have had better experiences but it was their last night before a hiatus.
love Wicked Oyster--eat there whenever we're in Wellfleet!
To my mind, it's the best quality food for your money in the area, in-season and off. For those of us who live in the area year round, we need a place to call home: the Wicked Oyster is it. The staff is always friendly and attentive, the food is consistently good, it's the best Wedge Salad in Mass and the environment is really warm and cozy.
The Lazy Lobster on gnocchi was a treat. The service was slow but exceptionally pleasant. A lovely way to spend Valentine’s Day eve.
We've been to the Wicked Oyster several times and it has always been a good experience. Our most recent visit - not so much. Granted it was Valentine's day - but we were there celebrating my husband's birthday. As you would expect it was pretty busy in the restaurant. We had a reservation and were seated quickly and at a nice table near the fireplace.
After we were seated the waitress came over for a drink order and it was obvious she was in a hurry. I asked about soda choices for my daughter and as my daughter was deciding the waitress said she would come back. Not exactly pleasant about it, but again understandable as she was busy. When she came back again, we were ready for a drink order which she took with a scowl. She brought the drinks and said she would bring bread and garlic. She literally tossed the bread basket at the end of the table as she was walking by with a couple slices of bread a couple butter pats and no garlic.
I made a point of being extra nice to her as I didn't want the rest of our meal ruined by a grumpy waitress. She did lighten up a bit, but it took a lot of work.
The meals were just ok. My daughter ordered the Filet Mignon which was cooked nicely but had 5 green beans on the plate and a handful of limp fries.
My lazy lobster pasta had an over cooked lobster tale, a few pieces of claw meat and 5 or 6 small gnocchi for $33. My husband got the scallops and risotto which was probably the meal on the table. And my son go the short ribs which looked more like a slice of pot roast than short ribs.
Overall I was disappointed in the meal and service. However we will be back as other meals we've had there (dinner and breakfast) were much better.
Everything really was outstanding. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 for ambiance because I prefer a bit more light, it was a little dark, epecially for my 95 year old mother. Also, I think I would have preferred a softer volumn to the music and maybe something instrumental. But everything else was outstanding and our server was lovely and the kitchen was understanding when we had to change the 1/2 dozen oysters to just 2 after my mother became too full after her clam chowder.
Always a treat, whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
We went on a Thursday to take advantage of the $20.20 special price dinner. Great meal. great service only issue is, it was a bit chilly in the dining room. But we went pretty early as it was a school night for my daughter. It was more comfortable as the evening went on and more people fill the dining room.
The pan seared cod is consistently good.
great ideas, so so execution but dessert was great.
Wonderful inviting place for solo dinner on New Year’s Eve
I have eaten there for years and never had a bad experience. One of the best restaurants around.
Everything about the Wicked Oyster is superb. The menu selection is creative, delicious, balanced, absolutely fresh, beautifully prepared and served. The staff members are warm and skillful and the service is polished. The setting is lovely and the art on the walls is interesting and unusual while still being steeped in Cape Cod. We had a memorable New Years eve end of 2019 and a special welcome 2020.
Wonderful historic restaurant with great food and ambiance.
Excellant meal. Attentive professional service. Beautiful room with magnificent art from respected leading local gallery.
We will return soon. Everyone enjoyed their food and the overall experience
Very good food and service. A most pleasant experience.
Two of three of us were very happy with the food and the whole experience. For me the experience was fine but the fillet mignon was terrible. It was cooked perfectly, but the quality of the meat was terrible. It had to be one of worst I’ve had anywhere.
We had dinner here the day after a Thanksgiving. It was busy and lively and the noise level was quite acceptable. The service could not have been better. Attentive but not over bearing. The waitress had an excellent knowledge of the cocktails and menu. Our party had the scallop, cod and sole filet entrees and each one was perfection! If you like Thai and spice definitely try the salmon though. In all this was our third visit and look forward to many more.
One of my favorite go-to, year round restaurants. Quaint, cozy, great food, reliable service, reasonably priced.
Still having dreams about the pistachio crusted salmon with red Thai curry
Great service, excellent food; we'll be going back!
Dinner was very disappointing as it is usually great. My daughter’s steak was cold and really underdone. Since we had waited 20+ minutes for appetizers and still more for the meal she opted Not to send it back.
Ordered the halibut and filet mignon. Both were excellent. Looking forward to returning.
Wait staff was friendly and efficient, food was excellent.
I have been eating here for many years and it never let me down. The food is simply awesome!
Reservation was honored and on time. Food, ambiance and service were great.
As always, the food at Wicked is consistently fresh and appetizing. We've never been disappointed. The staff is cordial and efficient. It's a solid go-to place whenever we're not in the mood to "cook in"!
The food was wonderful and, as usual, it was the staff who made the experience. Tanya was amazing, and she gave us lots of personalized attention. The host was lovely, made us feel welcome as we checked in. And the food was yummy. We'll be back!
Great environment for a romantic meal.
The food was amazing and service was good. It was a very nice menu.
We dine at The Wicked Oyster several times a month.
They always seat you immediately. The service is always outstanding!
The food is delicious, as well as the cocktails.
Love this place!!!
I had a salad with duck confit, which was pretty tough and dry. It was clearly reheated. I would have preferred it if they had fulfilled my request to chop up the lettuce before serving it, but I managed. But I loved the artichoke and spinach dip and the mousse parfait. My guest was pleased with her dish. Our server was attentive and pleasant.
Charming atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Ladies Birthday dinner!
Greeting was cold and somewhat off-putting! We were struggling to get uber so we’re going to be late. Called. No answer. Called again. Finally got through. Let them know we’d be late. Older hostess/greeter was not nice abt our tardiness (20 mins) even though I called. Was not a happy start. Server was not warm and fuzzy. All business and abrupt. Did not need to be.
We visited a number of times with 2 people up to eight including two in high chairs. Each time we are taken care of without batting an eyelash.
Just recently two of us visited on a busy Saturday evening. No problems and another enjoyable evening with excellent creative food servings.
We had been looking forward to trying the WO for some time . Will try again but somewhat disappointed in the food. All four of us were disappointed in the grilled romaine salad—3 soggy and one undercooked. Three fish entrees were good but the full dinner portion of the ahi tuna was smaller than most appetizer portions I typically have seen.
Never disappoints! Service to presentation, quality to taste!
