Wm. Farmer and Sons
Sunday night dinner. The food portions were a lot larger than we expected. The vegetable dishes were outstanding. We ordered about 5 dishes in all for two of us and took one of the dishes home with us. Great food, great service and great cocktails!
Very nice, cozy, welcoming place in Hudson, NY. We went for a special occasion and the staff helped make it ever more special! Food was simply amazing and wholesome. Some very creative recipes too, eg, snail lasagna. Highly recommended if you're in the area!
After eating here a few times, always hopeful for a better experience, we have decided it is not for us. The atmosphere and service are both excellent, as was the wine. But the menu is too precious and the choices limited if you are with a group that has varied desires. A chicken dish (not thigh nuggets) or even a delicious hamburger could solve that problem. We would return for a drink but nothing else, and we live here!
Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service, killer biscuits.
I specifically went here for the hamburger and was sad to learn that it had been taken off the menu that night.
Excellent experience! From cocktails to dessert and the wild boar bourguignon was absolutely amazing!!
Menu was easy for the foodie or the picky eater. Perfect wine and food pairing. Love the ambiance
as usual the food is quite spectacular , as a southerner I know it well. the music on our eve was London calling Sid vicious and it never ended and was a bad deal all around. I love the place and the ambiance and will return again and again ,.however if it was extremely crowded and loud with the choice of music I would have had to leave. we loved every bite and glad you are here,
The new menu is AMAZING
Food and drinks were delicious. Our waitress was way too fast and we felt very rushed and the experience was not on par with the food and drinks.
The menu is ambitious but the execution is flawed. Neither the menu or the server indicated that the items are meant to be shared, and in retrospect, our dinner would have been much better if we did. The concepts and combinations were interesting, but the flavors were too intense (salt was an overarching issue) and the textures too unvaried for a satisfying experience. We ordered the Jerusalem artichokes and the pumpkin tempura, and unfortunately, the flavor and texture were almost identical. The portions were really not sized as individual appetizers, but you would think the server would point that out. The Ikura Pot would have been excellent at a third of the size as a side dish. As a stand alone, the texture and salt were overwhelming after a few bites, especially with the tough, over-dressed and extremely salty Collard Green salad. Better descriptions on the menu and a more informed and engaged server could have steered us towards a better meal.
Well, the Royal English Navy was one of the best cocktails I've had in my life. The linguine with surf clam was excellent, and the loup de mer was good, if unremarkable. The Jerusalem artichokes were disappointing. The cookie skillet was fantastic.
Really nice night.
The food was unique and amazing. Friendly service. When we realized we had ordered too much, the waitress accommodated our request to cancel a dish.
Amazing dinner. Great atmosphere. Even better food. 100% coming back the next time we're in Hudson!
We were seated 45 minutes after our reservation time. One dish had to be sent back (allergy that we told the waitress about), the other was sent back due to being undercooked (nearly raw pork chop).
We have eaten at Wm. Farmer and Sons a few times and the experience and food are impeccable. A wonderful touch is the offering of complimentary sparkling or still water as opposed to having to order a bottle at extra cost. Definitely worth the 40 minute drive from Windham.

Beautiful romantic ambience at night. Drinks superb, food divine. Everything you would want on a beautiful dinner out!
Food was delicious, except for those chewy tasteless clam in the squid ink pasta that cost $30.
Cozy room with fireplace, experienced wait staff, and a creative kitchen. Always unique menu offerings... carrot salad, frogs legs, loup de mer... you get the idea. Not a “formula” kitchen. We’ve dined her many times for a reason. It never disappoints.
Reservation is necessary.
The food was great, and the cocktails were phenomenal.
Great cocktails, excellent food, and service. Delicious shrimp main course with grits;?amazing kale Caesar and wonderful Jerusalem artichoke appetizers
Lovely place. Interesting decor, warm and cozy. Food was delicious. My loup de mer was perfect. Prices are steep but reflected in the quality.
Amazing!!!! As always!!!
Our dining experience was superb! Very accommodating to dietary issues, food was delicious and the service was fantastic and friendly! Can't wait to return.
Charging $3.50 for a small portion of bread is outrageous. We paid $7.00 for bread, not aware of a charge for ordering bread. The food is very good, yet portions are small. The dessert menu is very limited. The service and ambience is a plus. Our party of 4 would be hard pressed to recommend this restaurant without mentioning the limitations.
Fantastic food, friendly service, excellent experience.
Always have a lovely time here. Were delighted to get a table last minute on a Friday night- much harder to pull off in June than in January! Food, service, drinks and room are always on point; menu is interesting, a little bit bold and varies over time. Glad it's here and that we find a way to get there from time to time.
i had two appetizers. One was blue crab over warm sautéed apples and the other was foie gras. The crab tasted like it was taken out of a can, watery, with the texture for sawdust. The apples were not warm and the skins were still on and chewy. There was some type of dressing but it was pretty flavorless and benefited neither the crab or apples. T'he foie gras was fine but it was served with toast that was too garlicky and killed the flavor of the foie gras. There was some other type of substance on the plate that had no flavor and I surmised that it was some type of congealed oil or grease. It was not worth the calories. I passed on dessert . The sancerre was fine.
Excellent food; prompt, courteous and helpful service; friendly staff; noisy when crowded, but also a great neighborhood vibe when crowded. All in all, an important restaurant resource in Hudson, and close to the train station for dining on arrival.
We glad you enjoyed your experience and thank you for your review!
We had great service and the food was excellent.
Thank you for your review. We look forward to having you back!
Can’t miss part of a trip to Hudson. Oysters were extremely fresh and the octopus soup had an extremely generous portion of octopus. Very carefully curated decor to create a uniquely welcoming and comforting environment
So pleased to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. Come back soon!
Would have appreciated sudes
A very enjoyable first visit. The food is creative, the service thoughtful and nonintrusive, atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. Will definitely return.
Thank you for your review and we look forward to having you dine with us again!
It was lovely and just what I needed for my birthday!
We are so glad you had a great time! We look forward to having you back.
Smart place, nice atmosphere, great food. Servers very pleasant and helpful - had to wave a bit to get more wine!
My absolute favorite way to spend a Sunday night. Love it
Far too inconsistent for the price. This seems to be one of the places that focus on meats from quality farms, which is great, but they hit out on more than a few of their dishes. We started with the smoked trout, which confusingly came chopped up in a disc and didn't taste all that smoked. The accompanying "soft egg" didn't seem to serve a purpose in the dish. I love soft yolks, but this didn't add to the trout at all. Our main dishes were octopus pot pie and duck confit. The pot pie was delicious--creamy and seafoody and just a little hint of celery. The confit was also very good, but the duck-fat fries were heavy with no crispness, and the mushroom hash under the confit was cold and lacking in flavor. I was so surprised by the fries I even asked the waitress if they were supposed to be this heavy, so she took them back to the kitchen and they put them back in the fryer, but when they returned they were even less appetizing: strongly duck flavored and still heavy. Perhaps they used a wax potato instead of a russet? For dessert, I had a coffee cocktail, which was perfectly balanced with a hint of absinthe and just enough cream topper. So really we had some very, very good things, but enough mediocre ones that, at over $30 a plate, I'd be hesitant to return.
