Loved the taster menu at WOOD. Was super interesting, staff really knowledgable and it's a great experience.

My partner and I opted for the 5 course tasting menu for a lunch time treat and we were not disappointed. Flavour, attention to detail and service were all excellent.

We went for a meal for my mums birthday. The food, wine, and service was outstanding.

We had the seven course taster menu, the variety and flavours was amazing.

We visited Wood when they had the 50% off promotion on their tasting menu. We opted for 10 courses which didn't dissappoint. It started with 2 complimentary canapes at the bar before we were seated at our table for another complimentary pre-dinner dish. The food was outstanding and it was a fantastic way to try ingredients and flavours that we wouldn't normally go for such as mutton tartar and crispy artichoke. All courses came out in a timely manner and the service staff were excellent and well informed about each dish. They did miss one of our courses but when we raised the issue, it was quickly resolved. Wood are also very accommodating to food allergies and intolerances, just make sure you let them know when you make the booking. The only gripe I'd have is I wish there were at least another meat dish as part of the tasting menu since there was only one (squab) whilst the rest of the dishes were seafood or vegetarian.

Without a doubt the best food I've ever eaten. Excellent and friendly service, the restaurant itself also lovely. Cannot recommend it enough!

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food is exceptional the staff were very friendly and I could not fault the service. Both chefs and waiters delivered our food and explained the ingredients. The restaurant has subtle lighting and welcoming.

Firstly, let me state that we very much enjoyed the meal; the following are suggestions for improvements.

The food was very nice, but when doing the ten course taster, a number of the courses had similar flavour profiles. There were a number of common flavours throughout the meal; predominantly artichoke, onion and celeriac. When asked about this, the waitress suggested this was intentional and designed to showcase the autumnal vegetation.

They seemed to use kitchen staff to deliver food. Unfortunately they do not have the charisma or excitement to tell the story of the food.

The venison course was misleadingly described as “the main meal”. It was the same size as the other 10 dishes.

Matt, the sommelier, was very good. When engaged regarding the choice of wine, he appeared knowledgeable and interested.

In general the wines with the taster were appropriate, but were limited to European wines. Only a single wine was new world from South Africa. Most of the others were French or Italian. Matt did suggest that they were looking for more new world wines though.

They also seemed to focus too much on enforcing a white-red-white-red-white-red pattern. Unfortunately, I do not think this necessarily brings the best to the pairing. I’d suggest possibly changing things up with an occasional sparkling or an unexpected rosé.

With the repetitive themes of the food, we’d have expected that the wine tasting would have been used to enhance various different flavours. To show how a fruity red wine plays with a sweet onion differently to a dry white, and as a result changes the entire dish. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

At the end of the evening, we were rushed out, with coffee being suggested against. This was entirely due to the local lockdown rules, and a requirement to be out by 10pm, and it’s not the restaurant’s fault.

Overall we were very happy with the meal, but think the suggestions above could enhance the restaurant to the next level.

We had the 7 course vegetarian tasting menu which was completely delicious! The whole experience was fantastic and extremely good value due to an offer which a member of staff rang me to specifically bring to my attention. A very kind thought. Overall an absolutely wonderful experience.

Not something you do every week, but when you choose to go, go to Wood. Despite the Covid 19 restrictions, the service was fantastic, food brilliant and further more the experience wonderful. As the famous Hollywood action man once said "I'll be back"

The food was exceptional, beautifully presented had the wine flight with the tasting menu can recommend it. Also had the red wine from the Lebanon which went well with the cheese. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely be going again. ((*.*))

It was fantastic. It was obviously expensive, but the price per value was good. We knew what to expect for the 10-course menu with the wine flight.
We would love to go back, but we would not get the wine flight this time. Halfway through the meal, we were pretty drunk.
Definitely recommend!

Had better food elsewhere. I appreciate this was a taster menu but the portions were extremely small and I was left feeling hungry afterwards. The service was fantastic but the food really let the experience down.

Took my dad for his 75th birthday. We had the 7 course taster menus. He had meat and I had vegetarian. Everything was exquisite. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. The staff are attentive but not overbearing. The atmosphere is cosy. This was my 4th visit. Can’t wait to go back!

We had the 7 course tasting menu and the standard wine flight followed by cheese and dessert wine.
The whole experience was delightful. The food was delicious and the very knowledgeable staff explained each course and the accompanying wine. The service was exemplary.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Wood to anyone seeking a delicious meal in a wonderful environment. I had wanted to eat at Wood for a long time and I was definitely not disappointed. Fantastic.

Fabulous food, wine and service. Felt like a real treat in these difficult times. Felt very safe but having been pre COVID, they haven’t lost their ambience.

Amazing food, service, drinks & whole experience! During a really though time for the industry these guys were outstanding minus having to wear the masks when not seated it was like a normal evening out - we loved it. Thanks guys

Stunning food, the satay prawn in particular may be the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Beautiful place and superb service made for a very special evening.

Service was impeccable and we loved how engaging the sommelier was discussing the paired wines with each course. The food was a great experience and all staff were perfect at ensuring all Covid safety measures were implemented. Overall a special experience.

Our first meal out since lockdown, second visit to Wood.
Food and service excellent though courses were tiny.
We opted for the 7 course taster with accompanying wine.
The wines were ok but not up to the standard of the food.

The food here is amazing! The service is wonderful and so is the atmosphere - a must visit!

First time for us both. Travelled all the way up from Norfolk Norwich,so was definitely worth the weekend away:) Thoroughly enjoyed the lot. Definitely recommend and will be 100% coming back:) 10/10

Service was good and very thorough in terms of the food on the plate! Restaurant was very quiet but ok! Thought that the place wasn’t as upmarket as I thought it might be! We had a steak on one of the main courses and found a piece of string in it however, if didn’t affect the meal and the restaurant did to their credit remove the price of that meal from the bill without any question from us !
Brilliant ..... and made me leave the place without a sour taste! Good on them !

This restaurant was fantastic, from the greeting at the reception desk to the explanation of all the food that arrived at our table.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a relaxed, cosy and romantic atmosphere whilst being greeted with exceptional fine dining.

All young staff with no senior quality control. Underwhelming food, v poor portions considering it was al la carte and not tasting. Nowhere near a fine dining level experience. Avoid

A lot of fun. The food had a couple of moments that made me shake my head - an over sweet cottage pie should not be a thing. But also there were things that made me smile long after I'd eaten them: a tiny cheese pie; fish served with chicken skin; lamb served on the bone with neck, liver, gravy and sweetbread accompaniments. Service was absolutely brilliant, especially with the added wine pairings which each came with a lengthy introduction (the sort of thing you either love or hate; and I love). Best of all is the price. Yes, the food for me only hit 80% of the time but at £49 for five courses (more like 8 with the various amuse and pre-dessert etc.) and £29 for wine pairing this is stunningly good value and you will leave stuffed. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in Manchester.
