When you walk into the medical building you’re skeptical, but then you go to the 18th floor and Wow! Ambiance was amazing, decor was outstanding and then the food. You can tell the chef worked at a previous Michelin starred restaurant, it was exceptional. Each dish was better than the one before and the service was outstanding as well. The wine list is expansive and thought out and this is by far a superb dining spot for an exceptional dinner. You’d be missing out if you didn’t dine here, it’s memorable and I can’t wait to come back again month after month.

Amazing food and drinks! Have been coming here since August, and always have a wonderful experience. Waiters are very nice, polite and make the dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this gem!

Fantastic food — highly recommend the short rib and the ricotta toast. Great outdoor patio with amazing views, fabulous service. Cocktail menu is quirky and fun.

We went for Sweetest Day. We were not impressed by the food selection. I knew they had a limited menu due to COVID but there wasn’t close to enough to choose from that looked appetizing.
We decided to only have drinks & to eat somewhere else. The drinks were great though, typically $15 drinks are a little watered down these were not !
Maybe we’ll try again post-COVID.

The food was mediocre at best and the menu is odd. But the service was horrible. Our appetizers came before they even brought us water. They placed a wine glass on the table but did not bring my wine until I had to go inside to the bar and let the bartender know we had no drinks yet- 30 minutes after arrival. The setting is stunning - which is the only thing they have going for them. Now I know why this beautiful rooftop restaurant is never busy...

Did not order food

The service was attentive and the drinks were good. We weren't able to sit outside because of the weather and the indoor ambiance is average to good. I think I would have preferred to sit further in the restaurant as that a looked more cozy but social distancing made that impossible. The staff also did a very good job of adhering to safety protocol.

We had an amazing view and waiter

The best experience I’ve had in a very long time! The service was fabulous and the food was absolutely delicious! The short rib is a must have, along with the ricotta! The best city views and overall amazing time. Compliments to the chef and servers!

Food and drinks were expertly prepared. Delicious. Our server Alex was most pleasant. The only thing we did not like was the loud rap music played over the system. Not the best music for dining. It really detracted from an otherwise delightful experience.

Lovely atmosphere and view outside. Though the menu is small, our food was creative and delicious. The corn gazpacho was especially creative. Service was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely return, especially when we can enjoy the beautiful indoor space.

Great views with a nice seasonal menu on the roof of Northwestern Hospital.

Was on time but was told rooftop seating was a additional 45min wait. That killed my experience and my date lol. Overall rating 3.5

Please update your times on open table, I made a reservation for 9, and the voicemail for the restaurant still says you close at 10, but the modified hours turned out to be 9, so my reservation never happened.

Loved woodwind! Beautiful outdoor seating on rooftop with a gorgeous view. Excellent service and food was unbelievable. Woodwind did not disappoint. We will definitely be back soon!

Hidden gem.

The outdoor space is amazing and a perfect setting for those concerned about eating in restaurants due to COVID. Because it is on the 12th floor, there is minimal street noise and you can see the lake. Food if very good.

The fantastic view of the skyline and lake along with ample seating make this a great place to go for a drink. The food was delicious, and even though there is a limited menu right now, the ingredients were fresh and recipes creative. We especially liked the corn gazpacho and Mediterranean pita. Because the restaurant is on the 18th floor of a hospital building, diners are given hospital-issued face masks, which lends an extra reassurance of safety protocols. Can't wait to come back!

We choose the restaurant based on MANY pleasant memories under its former management. It is a perfect location for outdoor dining with a large patio........but, alas, they had NO umbrellas and it was in the high 80’s, low 90’s.......so we were forced to eat inside.......there were only 2 other people there so it was not overwhelmingly scary, but the whole reason for going was to make use of the rooftop. Very dusappointed in the limited brunch menu.

The food was wonderful, as was the service. You need to leave room for dessert, it's EXCELLENT.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant in an unlikely place. The ambience is wonderful, views great, wait staff solicitous and professional; we even commented on the great use of space with different levels and seating, making a large area seem almost cozy. The only thing we found lacking was the food. We ordered the hummus and vegetable platter. I give it a 10/10 for presentation and the veggies were delicious. We just thought there was something off about the hummus, then we read that it is fermented hummus. I wish we would have paid better attention when ordering! Perhaps the wait staff can point that out. We also ordered the butternut squash with hazelnuts and truffle shavings. Butternut squash and hazelnuts are two of my favorites and I was really looking forward to this dish! Unfortunately, the squash was shaved and not cooked through. Because it was not fully cooked, it lacked flavor. Also, I did not realize that it was an extra $15 for the truffles; later I saw this on the menu in smaller print. On the plus side, the chicory salad was delicious! The fresh combination of the pomegranate seeds with the salty cheese and crunchy walnuts was very nice.
I will definitely try WoodWind again. The experience was a good one overall and the cotton candy that came with the check was a bit of whimsical fun at the end that told me that this restaurant while trendy and elegant does not want to take itself too seriously. I like that!

I had been to the space with the prior restaurant, so was already familiar with the ambiance and views, which was the reason I wanted to go back. That being said, the dishes created by this chef are fantastic and a fine complement to the views this space offer!

The Bloomin' Maitake is exceptional as are the carrots. We also tasted the octopus, lamb ribs and short rib. All very tasty and more than enough for 2 people. Great cocktail and wine program as well!

Service was very slow, especially for a small plates restaurant. Food itself was just fair and the portions were tiny, even for small plates. Atmosphere was great but i probably wouldn’t return unless the service (and food) improved greatly.

Nice place to go for lunch - especially if you are NHM.
