Yashin Ocean House

Yashin is an upmarket sushi place - as such I expect real Wasabe on the Nigiri

However we asked for some wasabe on the side and what they delivered was not Wasabe by Horseradish with green colour - I pointed this out and finally they delivered a tiny portion of real wasabe

Not good enough

The food was delicious, amazing sashimi. However, the atmosphere was cold and the service was poor. It seemed that the waiter didn't even know what was on the menu.

Very authentic Sushi dishes. Very satisfactory for us Japanese but only problem was the timing of miso soup.
We wanted it at the same timing with Sushi rather than as an appetizer. Services were all good overall and definitely we’ll be back!

Our table was dirty and our menus were printed on a piece of (dirty paper). We didn't have much choice on what to order given that it was mostly set menus. Food was very average. Service was really poor, we waited 15 mins just to order water and we constantly needed to get up to look for a waiter if we needed something. Wasn't cheap and just overall not good. Would not recommend

This is one of my favorite restaurants in London. Never fails to be wonderful.

The quality is top. Everything is delicious and the fish is incredibly fresh. That is reason enough to come.

We went after the (2nd?) lockdown ended and I think they were still getting their footing back. Ambiance was a bit lost from pre-covid but the quality is absolutely still there.

Definitely one of the best sushi I've ever had.
I will recommend this restaurant to both non-Japanese and Japanese people.
I came from Japan, and did not expect too much as the restaurant is not ran by Japanese.
Soon I realized the thought was wrong.

They added some western cuisine originalities to the sushi, beside keeping the Japanese sushi essence.
The extent of aging fish, the softness of rice（and the rice was well cooked and seasoned）, the combination of rice and fish... everything was perfect.
The originality was interesting seen as a Japanese, such as cappuccino of miso soup.

Great food, beautiful presentation, good value for the quality.

Due to Covid at the moment you can only order drinks by the bottle.

Toro carpaccio with black truffles was supreme, and the prawn tempura was so fresh

I had only experienced Yashin Sushi so was unprepared for the wow factor of Yashin Ocean set in such a stunning location. It was the perfect mother and daughter lunch venue post Kimono exhibition at the V&A. Please try and stay open now I have discovered you! Divine food as always.

Fantastic food but service isn’t great

Another brilliant meal! Creative and delicious food great service and thoughtful responsibility to the current spacing requirements. Overall an excellent outing, and one that will definitely repeat very soon.

Our experience was tarnish by the very poor service. We came at 12 and everything went quite slow from ordering to the food arriving. Come 12.45ish, more people came in and then the service became extremely slow.
We understand that this is the Covid era but if you can’t provide a good/fast service, than the best is to take less booking. By doing this you make all customer happy rather you take in so many of them and provide poor service.
Food was always good as this is not our first time here but the service was extremely poor this time. Should I come here again? Maybe not. At difficult times like this, you need to up your game if you want to maintain the satisfaction of the customer. There are so many restaurant outside there and customer will judge by how good their service are.

Always high quality and interesting Japanese food.
If you can trust the chef's seasonings and not use soy sauce on your sushi, this is must eat establishment.

The worst lunch I had in a proper restaurant. I had grilled eel over rice : rice was cold, eel was dry & cold with absolutely no sauce (which it was meant to have truffle sauce over it). It was worse than those in a fast food chain. The restaurant really has to work harder if they want to stay in business.

Service and menu wasn't as good as before. I understand that changes have to be made in recent months, but it's not the usual standard that we're used to.

My son and I really enjoyed our meal. We have both lived in Japan and appreciated the authenticity combined with flair of the meal.

Arrived and barely got greeted. Two couples arrived after us with reservations after ours and were shown to tables before us. Way too crowded. No social distancing. Wanted to sit us in the center of every group. It’s as if to them covid wasn’t a thing anymore. Waiter forgot one add-on item (and didn’t politely take off the bill). Waiter’s masks were small and they just leaned down when speaking and effectively breathed on you anyway. Food was fine but menu was limited. No attention to the comment I made about how it was my date’s birthday on the open table reservation; she had a decent 30th birthday dinner but the restaurant didn’t acknowledge it and this experience was way below the usual experience we have at Yashin.

Rushed us in and out in 1 hr

Food was great however service was very poor. There was Japanese waiter who was brilliant, since he left , no really good atmosphere and caring .

Before the covid we would go to yashin ocean house every weekend and loved it. This time, we were very disappointed and won’t be back for a while i think. The service was extremely long (1 hour wait for the omakase 8 sushi after we placed the order). The air conditioning was way too strong, another customer asked to lower it but it didn’t really work. I always buy the omakase 8 which usually includes a soup, a salad, 8 sushis and 1 roll. I asked what the roll was, the waiter said there was no roll. So i ordered an extra roll for 8.5. An hour later he brought me the 2 rolls, saying that he made a mistake, the omakase does include a roll. He didn’t even offer to cancel the extra one i ordered!!! On top of that they increased the prices and there is less choice on the menu. On the other hand, the chef is still brilliant, i would say the quality is better than pre-covid. But the wait+the lack of competence of the waiter + the AC were too much for me

Sushi and other foods were good and we enjoyed very much. However, service wasn’t excellent. It was my birthday and I put it is birthday occasion but nothing happened from restaurant also staff brought a bill before we request (we were still enjoying our sake). Bit disappointed.

Bar was a bit slow in service and no worcester sauce available for Bloody Mary but great food by Shinya as always!

Very bad ! Poor service and overpriced ! The personnel was not really helpful and had difficulties to understand English.

A very inviting place with a touch of modernity as well as traditional Japanese hospitality. The staff were all very frindly and helpful in selecting dishes as well as drinks.

A delicious selection of sushi and sashimi dishes in a cosy and quirky setting... this was my second time here and I will return again!

Superb food in a beautiful building.
Absolutely one of the better Japanese restaurants in London. Tastefully high-end in a low key fashion. Imaginative dishes a world away from the somewhat stale offerings from Sexy Fish, Nobu, Zuma etc etc
