Ye Olde Kings Head- Santa Monica
Good British Pub Grub, service not up to its usual standard and time was rushed.
We had the English Tea and it was delightful. They were so thoughtful and we had great finger sandwiches and pastries. The staff was fabulous.
Christine couldn’t make the experience more lovely. I have followed her from the Tutor House. She makes the tea room here such a delight. Fresh flowers and delicious treats.
I Took special friends to tea last Saturday. It was terrific. Christine did such a good job and took very good care of us. The pastries, tea sandwiches and scones were the best - all on pretty tiered plates.. We were not rushed and were taken very good care of. After we left, we marched right to the bakery and bought more pastries to take home. Thank you for a fun and delicious afternoon. If you closed your eyes you might think you are in London,
Looked and seemed like an authentic British pub. Husband really enjoyed the Irish Stew special, and I loved the vegetarian shepherds pie. Big portions!
Outstanding service and impeccably made English foods.
We had a great Christmas Eve dinner. We come every year!
Our annual holiday get together for the past 27+ years and it did not disappoint! First class, friendly service and great atmosphere!
Our family are Anglophiles so we are bit biased but our guest had no preference to the UK and still loved it!
Great food, great service, lovely facility, patio and store.
This place is fabulous. Legit English grub and authentic decor. Plus, the English shop next door is stocked with delish British goods. Give it a go!
Great British pub, had the Cornish pastie and my partner has the Sunday English roast and a couple of pints. Watched football and had a great time. Highly recommended.
Went to Ye Olde Kings Head in Santa Monica for the first time...and had a blast! My friends and I truly enjoyed our gathering there. The fish and chips were delish, service with a smile and it was a comfy, fun place to hang.
Rencontre familiale de fin de vacance
I came back again this time to try the afternoon tea at 12pm on a Saturday and it was fun! It’s definitely a good place to get together with your friend(s). Especially those who love London! It’s not as good as the Ritz Carlton afternoon tea in London but good enough for LA. At $30 a person, you each get your own pot of tea and you share a tray of sandwiches and sweets with the one other person you are with. My friend and I came so we shared a one 3 tiered tray which has 2 of everything. A fly did land on my eclair so that was annoying. They have 2 individual bathrooms- one for women and one for women/men. There was one server serving the red room which is in the back where they do afternoon tea and you can also order off the regular menu as well I think. Not sure if they would sit you here if none of you are ordering afternoon tea. There’s 3 other rooms and also the outside patio for dining as well. The first time we came we got fish and chips which was tasty.
I had booked it for afternoon tea and said so when I booked it. When I arrived with my family and Niece in Princess dress everyone excited to have a proper tea I was told they don’t do tea on weekends... so I think you need to get that straight on your end and make sure it’s clear that they do NOT do tea on weekends. The staff was lovely and felt bad but it was a crap experience anyway and so disappointing. Again it was not the fault of the restaurant it was the fault of the booking process
So much atmosphere, I want to schedule a tea party. Seasonally decorated for Halloween!
The daily specials are very good as are the curry dishes. Nice ambience unless there is a soccer tournament going on as there are large TV's in each one of the rooms in the restaurant. The trifle is excellent as is the rhubarb crumble.
I had the fish and chips and it was the best I’ve had in a long time.
I would highly recommend it.
Brilliant food, friendly staff and good atmosphere
Right in middle of Santa Monica, 1 block from Palisades Park, 1 block from the Promenade..you won't be disappointed...nice tables outside but we chose inside for atmosphere.
Our server was so wonderful...the atmosphere very cool but casual. Fish n chips the best!
Went with some friends visiting from out of the country and it was great. Most of us got the fish and chips; the “queen size” is more than enough for an adult. Smart thing to do is split the “king size” and just get another side (if you’re into the whole sharing thing). Nice drinks and a cool bar attached to keep the night going!
3 years ago I took my future husband here on his first trip to America from the UK. We went back again to celebrate. Service is great. Food was great. Vegetarian options galore. Thank you!
Fantastic meal all 3 of us were incredibly satisfied!
We loved it and the food was great.
Very good pub style meals, the service could be better
We spent most of the day here. Started with breakfast where we ordered the full English Breakfast and were transported back to an English pub. Not bad for a Pub in Santa Monica. Loved their decor....but the food was the star. Eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, grilled tomatoes and fried bread. The fried bread wasn’t quite up to English standards because it was a bit soppy. But all in all, we shall return. After a relaxed breakfast, we headed into the bar area for a soccer match. Of course it was loud in there, but great fun since they utilize 3 incredibly huge pull down screens to broadcast on. The pub was jumping, the Guinness was flowing and since Liverpool won, it was a great day.
English Breakfast -- for those that know - know -- it was great!
Kudos to the staff! They were very accomodating with our group. Getting Cold Ice water to the table took asking 3 + times-- I think the waitress I had at 11:30 didn't realize I had already been there since 10 and ate a full meal.
The group was taken care of professionally and one of the guests had their Fish and Chips done over and was very happy-
My Lox bagel was excellent- though I would have preferred a garlic bagel-- and more tomatoes-
Overall everything was excellent- the location and ambiance are excellent-- the staff is overall friendly and welcoming- highly recommend and hope to return for Tea!
terrible, fish was so grease, it is not spouse to be like that
We stop there every time we're in that part of the greater LA area. Food is always great and the service is super friendly!
Love the pub and it authentic original menu and brews.
Great food, great service, great ambience...AS ALWAYS !!!!
Fun place with great food - perfect for large groups
Service was friendly and attentive.
As always, this is a great place to meet family and friends. The food selection is great, the quality is excellent and it feels as if you are travelling to the UK. The hostess is very friendly and the staff is very accommodating. I have been going here for decades and will continue to be a regular. Highly recommend.
The Sandwiches were so delicious and the scone was excellant with clotted cream and jam.
The desserts were yummy. A few more selections for tea choices would be good. Overall I would so go again.
Standard faire for Brits but really this place needs to up their game. Ordered the lamb roast and the beef roast for Sunday. The meat was mediocre. The veggies horrible. I don't eat potatoes. Like going back in time to the 70's and what would have been considered quality then, not so now. Like when you got that iceberg salad with 2 croutons and a few shreds of grated carrots on top. Yeah, expect that.
Been coming here since 1984. Love it. The food is good, the staff is friendly. Only complaint is it's often crowded.
Food and service were exceptional.
