Food was good as for value for money i think burgers should come with fries for that kind of money .
Excellent Sunday roast, good service and nice ambience
Shame it was empty but food was amazing
A quiet night in town, unsurprising given current restrictions, but it didn't help the ambience in the restaurant which was very dark. The bar was more lively and we would have preferred to have been offered the bar menu. My wife's meal was tepid and needed to be re-heated, and came back only marginally warmer. The quality of my steak was poor, very sinewy. If this is the dining experience in a more central location we will stay local. Disappointing
Small black flies bothering us around the table . Shepard’s pie decidedly average. Tastier one at home
Very nice food, well presented. Good service. A bit expensive but very good
Very good Sunday roast and great service.
The autumnal chill matched the funereal atmosphere in the room. As we walked in it felt like something terrible had just happened. The restaurant was almost empty. We were offered a large table near the window with low seats. The staff happily showed us to another table but the steely blue formica style tables and deep blue seats continued the morgue-like theme in the stark lighting. An injection of colour and warmth is needed. Perhaps when the sun shines through the impressive curved Georgian windows there is more joy inside the dining room. Our meals were good but the ambience let down the whole experience.
The food was amazing, only problem what we had is with the loud music, we almost had to scream to each other.
Great food, relaxed but friendly and professional service. WOuld love to come back when next in the area
Very good as usual and the staff and manager are a real asset to the place, very professional.
Would recommend for sure.
Can never go wrong with any of Gordons restaurants. Love them all.
Very attentive and polite service, but sadly the food was a little boring. We ordered beetroot salads, which were great, but our burgers that followed were overcooked and the bread was dry and stale.
We tried the 'Love London' menu, so the meal was good value and the food quality was fair, but we would have been disappointed if we were paying full price.
Always excellent with first class food and service. Very accommodating of our young daughter.
Had a lovely roast here, highly recommend! They had a tasty vegetarian option and my husband had the beef, which he said was cooked perfectly. Amazing food and service.
The food was lovely - fish and chips and the chicken burger followed by toffee sundae and brownie. Nice and quiet, plenty of space around us. Two of their chairs need an update but that’s nothing to complain about. Service was attentive and efficient and the Rose wine was light and fruity.
I rarely put feedback but felt I needed to this time.
Booked thinking that a Gordon Ramsay restaurant would be good quality. It wasn’t.
Restaurant: gastropub. Neither restaurant or pub. A bit shabby.
Service: Friendly. Took food off the bill that wasn’t up to standard.
Food: limited selection and a bit basic. Cottage pie ok but nothing special with tasteless broccoli. Chicken burger looked and tasted awful. Covered in a sickly spicy/cheese sauce. My wife couldn’t touch it. Kids menu looked ok. 5 yr old had fish/chips. Floury batter not up to standard. Chips fine.
Drinks: no complaints.
Facilities: nasty smell downstairs from the loos. Baring in mind it’s COVID, the loos were dirty.
Lovely staff amazing food. Great atmosphere
Fantastic cozy pub, an ideal spot to catch up with friends
Lovely location and polite staff but need better quality food.
The menu online is not the one you get to chose from when you get there. It was very misleading and the offer menu was disappointing.
Gorgeous... Only rated low for Ambience due to Covid
Good Saturday lunch date.
First dinner out since Lockdown and was a positive experience. We sat outside. Menus were online. There was hand sanitizer inside the doorway. Extra sanitizer in the bathroom as well as soap and hand cream.
We had chosen the restaurant as we expected this from a GRH establishment.
Food as always was good. The Love London Menu was extremely good value for money.
Great food and great service at an affordable price. the Manager and staff are all very professional and we had a great evening thanks to them
Pleasant, spacious surroundings. Chairs literally OTT. Fish starters and main courses excellent. Wine OK. Steak not up to standard. Meat quality poor.
Great food and atmosphere. Very friendly service. I would recommend this place.
food and service was fantastic
Always excellent, helpful staff and excellent food/wine.
We went shortly after Lockdown was lifted. So our experience might have been affected by the unusual circumstances. The restaurant was very quiet with little atmosphere. We ordered Old Fashioned cocktails, which were not well made at all and difficult to finish. The starters were fine but small. We had burgers which were pretty good. Dessert was disappointing.
Overall you would not think that this was a fancy gastro-pub, certainly not for the price paid.
A great Sunday roast, the staff were excellent, I left very happy and satisfied.
Food was so lovely and yummy! The Cornish cod was so good and cooked perfectly.
Kids dine for free and v yummy too.
Love the gingerbread house outside!
Other customers behaved badly had to wait 45 minutes for wine chips came after finished
The food at the Albany and York was delicious. Both my friend and I chose the cauliflower as a main and it was exquisite. However the staff were a bit slow to ask if we wanted a drink when we sat down. Also the bare tables made the place feel more like a refectory than a restaurant. Although the staff weren’t wearing masks it was clear they were taking Covid seriously.
Nice place but the photos on here make it look more fancier than it is. We were placed out the back inside & it looked rather quiet & bland. Make sure your phone is charged to look at the menus. I had difficulties downloading and had to use my friends phone. Roast meal arrived quick but when asked about drinks the waiter had to go back and forth to the bar person to answer if they had certain drinks as they didn't give us time to look at the online menu which we were both trying to download. Most disappointing was the dessert I ordered of Brownie with Duce le luce and salted caramel ice cream. I had to send it back to the kitchen as it was firstly served in a cracked bowl, second there was the brownie that was the size of a £2 coin. It was literally only ice cream and the luce. Felt slighty disappointed as was expecting good things from the restaurant from previous reviews. When i paid at the end the waitress was really rude when we didn't pay the full service charge. I understand the current situation is hard but service was sub par and i personally wouldnt have paid the full service charge if I don't get the service you would expect at a restaurant.
Good food if a little overpriced
Despite lockdown the service and the food was enjoyable. Perfect for a dinner for two and celebrate a birthday.
As one would expect from a Ramsay restaurant, every detail was taken into account. The staff were exceptional, the right balance of professionalism and friendly. Nothing was too much for the wonderful gentleman who served us. He was from Barcelona.
The food was perfect in size portion and bursting with flavour. My husband had Mackrel to start and hake first main, both of which were sublime. I opted for buratta for starter and roast cauliflower for main. So packed with flavour and perfectly cooked. The only down side was a male guest screaming and cackling so loudly but this cannot be helped. Will certainly return. Thank you.
My boyfriend and I went for dinner at the York and Albany on Saturday (I.e the first night out of lock down!) and it was just brilliant. Really friendly staff made us feel so comfortable with the situation and keeping everything social distanced. We both ordered the steak frites, which came nice and quickly and was delicious. Our waiter Miguel was absolutely amazing, really attentive and chose a brilliant red for us. When we asked later if we could enjoy our wine on the sofas he was so accommodating, thank you Miguel, you made the experience so great.
A brilliant first night out, 5 stars!
Thank you for such a great rating. Y&A Team
