Delicious food. Wonderful ambiance. Thanks for another great dinner!
Kosher and not kosher consumers will love the creative and tasty menu. Only disappointment was that there wasn’t a soup du jour that night.
We decided to go to Zagafen last minute on a Tuesday night.
It’s lovely inside
We ordered pizza and salad
YUM - delicious
Can’t wait to try some of the pasta dishes next time
Love the food; excellent restaurant. Love the creative eggplant parm! The pizzas are delicious!
We loved the ambience and space, it was a pleasure to be there. The staff was very very nice and friendly. Our food was disappointing - the bass was a very small portion with little fish and the salmon was nothing special in its spices, a little overcooked. The pizza was good. The chocolate cake was dry and, perhaps we have unsophisticated tastes but the hot chocolate tasted off.
We liked the atmosphere and staff enough we would try it again and hope for better luck on the menu.
Amazing fish dishes, small plates and desserts. Wonderful evening.
Delicious food! Great service. Beautiful ambiance and Kid friendly
The server was very goodnot in keeping with the theme of the restaurant.. Unfortunately, the food was not. The salmon was overcooked and the gnocchi was too dense. The background music was too loud and
The Kennett pizza was outstanding as was the fried cauliflower!
The food at zagefan is fabulous.
We started with a pizza which had pistachio and arugula on it. It had a wonderful crispy crust and great flavors
For dinner We had several small plate. Spaghetti squash, baked fish with vegetables, spinach salad the hummus came with wonderful fluffy pita.
It was all great!!
I would take out the pizza any night. I think it’s the best pizza around
The ambiance is tranquil. It’s really a beautiful space
Great decor, good food, less than stellar service. If this place would level up its service I would absolutely go bad.
The food was excellent; more high-end than expected and portions were more than ample. The cocktail menu was creative. The space is a major improvement and ideal place if you would like to have a conversation, business meeting or a pleasant drink. Looking forward to their opening for lunch.
Tom is the beta manager
Several things not available on the menu, but not a problem. Everything was very yummy and the service was excellent. It is rather pricey for what you get, It was Thursday and there weren’t too many people there, not sure if the two were related.
Outstanding! The only thing we didn't like were the fries, which seemed like they would be better fitted for a pizza joint. We also had the kale salad which was delicious. The Kennet square pizza was perfectly well done and my partner had the Rosa pizza. The chocolate butter cake was one of the best desserts I've had in the Philadelphia area in years!
Delicious and daring offerings and was such a treat to be able to eat anything on the menu. We especially enjoyed the beet salad, bass and the risotto with pesto and appreciated how quickly they hopped to and produced plates for hungry cranky kids.
The restaurant has a lovely ambiance, and it’s great to have a charming kosher dairy option. I wish the food was just a little better. The beets were undercooked, the eggplant parmesean was gloppy and unflavorful, the pizza had no crispness. The pasta had good flavor though, and the kale salad was very good as well. I hope they can work to improve food quality a little, it is so close!
The ambience was nice and our waitress Maddy was attentive. The fried cauliflower was way too spicy. The caeser salad was very good. The margarita pizza was fair- could have had more flavor. The eggplant rolatini was the best thing we ordered.
We left with a bad taste in our mouth after getting the bill. They actually charged us $1 for a tiny amount of parm cheese that we asked for assuming it was a courtesy. They also charged a ridiculous $3.50 for a mini bottle of coke. This makes us not want to go back!
The food was tasty, the decor pleasant. It was fairly noisy. Prices are somewhat high for the larger plates- my wife’s salmon was sparse and cost $24. The waiter was very congenial, but the kitchen let him and us down. The restaurant policy is to bring plates out when prepared, not a good idea, because some of us received plates about 30 minutes before others. Good restaurants should plan to time the cooking so all guests at a table receive freshly-prepared food at the same time. The restaurant apologized and removed the charge for the 3 plates that came out long after the first 3, a very courteous and professional thing to do. The kitchen may have been short handed tonight.
We have found almost every single dish at Zagafen to be savory and interesting (out of four visits, 2 were just ok). We have enjoyed the aesthetics, food, and surprisingly for our suburban neighborhood, the somewhat diverse crowd.
We had a large group so we were in the lovely semi private room. The food was very good. The service was mostly good but sometimes somewhat slow, possibly because the bar was understaffed. Overall we enjoyed our evening.
Such a lovely space!!
Menus was interesting and contained versatile fish and pasta , not the usual salmon and tilapia. Wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. Service time from ordering to food arrival was timely. We spent alot of time at the table and did not feel rushed even though it was a busy time.
Everything we ordered was delicious. Portions were on the smaller side yet no one left hungry. Will definatly return and recommend.
Outstanding food, terrific service, beautiful atmosphere. We were five people and tried many things on the menu. We will return again and again. A fantastic restaurant that just so happens to be kosher unlike many kosher restaurants in the Phila area that offer little other than the fact that they are kosher.
Everything was fine except for initially being seated in the "kitchen" and then the doorway. We had to wait about 10 minutes to get a table "in the restaurant." Other than that, it was a very enjoyable anniversary dinner for both of us.
Service started out fantastic but the kitchen was very slow. Dishes came out randomly and one diner’s entree came out at least 20 minutes after the rest of the food.
Please just let the customer know when they make reservations if you will have cholov yisroel available-(or not)
The food was very good- we may just want some more fish and healthy options for the entree.
Wonderful waiter and the food is always incredible!
Screaming kids-go after 8pm.
Uninspired menu, mediocre
We really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. We did have a problem with the hostess when we first arrived but the manager swiftly handled the problem.
Great service and food.
WE concentrated on "small plates" salad and a Green(!) pasta dish. W passed on the pizza and main dishes this time but will probably try those on a return visit. Everything we tried was delicious and unique. Definitely worth a visit.
Great experience- we will be back!
Expensive, noisy and limited parking. The salad dressing on the roasted red beet salad was delicious, but the Margharita pizza was ordinary. Everything was ala carte, so the price can escalate very quickly.
Zagafen was perfect for our family dinner. We were a mix of 4 adults and 5 kids and everyone left with a smile on their face. Food was delicious, service was fantastic, and the ambiance was the optimal combination of fine dining meets neighborhood familiarity. Would have been equally great for a romantic night out with my wife. We definitely plan to go back!.. Only regret was not leaving room for the cheesecake;)
Another excellent meal in a lovely space
I’ve been there three times since it opened. I tried different things every time and it’s all been great! So happy to have it in the neighborhood
Excellent food. Not too greasy and not too much frying. I will go there again and again.
