grilled Mediterranean octopus, marinated onions, capers, yellow split pea pure
traditional crispy chickpea fritters, tumeric pickles, cherry tomato, tahini
tahini, preserved lemon, pine nuts, capers, golden spice vinaigrette
Very cute place. Good presentation. Food was only ok. A little overpriced for what you get. Pretty cold outside and they said they couldn’t turn on the heat lamps. Not his best restaurant but worth it if you happen to be in the area and are hungry.
A long standing staple of Penn quarter, always vibrant and energetic.
Good food and drinks with elevated outdoor seating you can enjoy the weather (umidty allowing) without seating on the curb! Don't miss the Baba gannouge, imam bayildi, and the beef soutzoukakia.
These days they offer a $35 tasting menu that is a great value too.
Good social distancing practices. A little crowded at the check in, but plenty of space between tables inside often separated by plastic dividers and lots of tables outside. All staff wears masks, and contactless menu and payment options
Was in Penn Quarter and wanted something tasty. The front desk from the Riggs recommended this place. Got the tasting menu and was happy with the variety and the fact that I didn’t have to decipher the menu. Also tried the wine flight and enjoyed the selection. Would try again but wish the location was a little more secluded.
Zaytinya is a delight always. So happy to see you all faring well and serving the community with all the love!
The food is amazing! The service impeccable. Fresh pita is delivered constantly to your table, waiters and staff are so attentive. We ate outside so the city sounds were pretty energetic. If you want quiet dining I'd recommend inside. Food was delicious and it made for a great location for a ladies night out and the food was easily shareable!
We came here for a birthday dinner and had a very disappointing experience. Even though we had a reservation, we were told that "Reservations cannot guarantee a table" which is RIDICULOUS and then were given a high-top by the bar. Which normally would be fine if we were a walk-in, but it was a special occasion and we had a reservation. Then the host completely forgot about us (we wanted to move to a real table after a drink) so we had to go back up. Then they tried to move us to a table outside by the road even though our reservation was for inside. Finally they gave us a table (about an hour after our original reservation). Food was good, but expensive. Service was poor - our waitress almost never checked on us and when she did it wasn't great. Fine service for a burger joint, but not a higher tier restaurant. There was also no birthday celebration, which is fine, but once again a little disappointing for a nicer restaurant. Overall, would not go back.
All was fine except the check in. Had to wait 35 minutes despite a booking and a confirmation. The hostess was rude, luckily a floor manager solved the problem. The service and food were great but they do have a booking issue especially for outdoor seatings
Perfect outdoor dining spot. Same phenomenal service, food, and cocktails. While servers' faces were hidden behind masks - thank you - they really showed their best selves. Grateful for a wonderful evening.
I really do feel for Zaytinya. I've visited it during very busy times, during very fun times (Dine & Dash), and now during COVID times. It is sad to see such an amazing restaurant, so empty, due to the pandemic and associated restrictions. That being said, I am happy that the restaurant has put up plexiglass walls between booths, and separated seatings in areas where this is not possible. The menu is slightly downsized, and some of the favorites are temporarily missing, but hope they make a return once things are back to normal. The food and service were great.
We went with my boyfriend for a tasting dinner and it was a very good experience! Food, atmosphere, staff - We highly recommend:)
Food was amazing. Wine was amazing. Service was amazing. Ambiance was amazing. Period.
Delicious meal and great outdoor seating! Service was excellent. The bread and labneh are a delicious combo, and the watermelon salad was my favorite starter dish. The brussel sprouts were incredible. Overall, 10/10 experience.
Great spot for a weeknight dinner!
Staff was very attended to our needs. They sanitized table before we sat, electronic menus, hand sanitizers to make us feel safe.
Food was amazing!
Great dinner, great service and friendly staff. Definitely can recommend Zaytinya. We both had the tasting menu, which offered a good value for the variety of food offered - 5 courses including dessert. The food was delicious!
Quality of food was great and the service was outstanding. We try to pass by every time we’re in DC
great covid outdoor experience, food great as always!
I have loved dining here several times. My most recent visit in September 2020. I don't feel comfortable eating indoors, and I was able to reserve an outdoor table for my mom's birthday dinner. The ambiance was lovely, pretty quiet even though they're in a busy part of town. Lovely lights over the patio. We described is as magical several times throughout the evening. Food never disappoints. Started with two spreads, then got two meat dishes, (lamb and beef) and an order of the Brussels. They are a not to be missed item. We ordered a second plate for our dessert! Seriously - you must order them. Food flavors are vibrant yet subtle. Highly recommend if you like Mediterranean food!
We had a superb dinner at Zaytinya’s outdoor patio. The menu has been updated and there are lots of terrific new dishes, along with old favorites. It’s fun to order a variety of Mezze small plates and share them, getting a good taste of everything. Each dish was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Can’t wait to go back again.
Fruit salad followed by octopus was delightful
It was a bit expensive but everything was delicious!
Outdoor seating was perfect! Food was delicious, service (Marlon and his team) were great - quite attentive, but not at all intrusive. Zaytinya has outside dining in the time of Covid down to a science!
This was a lovely experience. I had dined here before, about a year ago, and enjoyed it, but this patio dining was great. It felt like a normal (pre-Covid) summer terrace dinner out. The service was very attentive and considerate, and the food was delicious overall. One of the most seamless restaurant experiences we have had since the pandemic began.
Loved our evening at Zaytinya. Great food and service, beautiful, and we felt very safe.
Over all the place is good be of my favorites. The downside was the time. It seems like we arrived during the shift change and our services was very bad. We have been there several times and love the food, I really thing it had to do with the time of day. Oh well...
The food was awful. We ordered an omelette - which was raw / runny inside. We sent it back to be recooked as we don’t eat runny eggs - it came back EXACTLY the same. Still runny. The pide (with tomato, cinnamon, spices and halloumi) was basically a flatbread pizza, and tasted as such. The fried potatoes (we were assuming some kind of baby potatoes) were just French fries with a white sauce on the site. So basically we had a pizza and French fries. We asked for the halloumi from the “old” menu, and they said it’s not available. This was one of our favorite restaurants but the quality and taste of the Covid menu was beyond disappointing. It was like their chef was gone and they had someone else throw together a menu. I would warn anyone to just wait for the normal menu to be back and not waste your money on the substandard fare.
Amazing place!! And the food is delicious, very well priced
Outdoor dining was perfect here. I felt safe, the ambiance was still great, and the servers/wait staff were extremely attentive. The food was great incredible, I'll definitely come back again.
Great food and service.
Great lunch with outside dining during COVID. The restaurant is clearly taking staff and client safety seriously. Fabulous food! Fabulous service! I will definitely be back.
Overall good. Service was great! My only issue was we had some mosquitos buzzing around us our entire meal it was a bit annoying. Also I felt prices were a bit much for the portions.
Wonderful in all respects! Outdoor eating area was nicest in the area ... to say nothing of the food, service, and care!
Daughter has moved to DC
Amazing food and terrific service. I wanted everything on the menu. I will definitely be back. The servers wiped everything down before we sat down at our table outside. I felt pretty safe eating there during the pandemic.
Very friendly service and delicious options. Met all expectations!
good distance between tables, hand sanitizer available, masks required for servers and diners, good food as always, very good experience
Zaytinya disappointed me for the first time. Food and everything is still great but you have to update your OpenTable availability if you have reduced hours -which I totally understand. I was even able to book a table at 9:30 pm so I figured they were closing at least a little later and I booked a table for 9 pm. When we arrived I immediately asked for the closing time because I would hate to keep people late who work hard in this environment. They said the kitchen was already closed but they were gonna take our order anyway. I’m so glad no one else booked that spot at 9:30 pm! We ate and left pretty quickly but it’s really misleading not to update your primary booking platform.(and you can update it even momentarily so no excuses there) I probably will be returning because I still love the food but it was a tad annoying.
Went here for restaurant week and the food was delicious! Much larger portions for tapas then I was expecting.
