Always a very enjoyable evening at Zen Japanese, ultimate dinning experience

Zen puts a lot of effort to maintain their quality, variety, and service. Their food is always fresh consistent and very yummy. Though I understand why it’s so expensive (because everything is imported) I do wish the price can be a little more affordable so I can go enjoy their food more than 3 times a year 😉

The food was yummy but for the price it was really nothing special. For Omakase there are other restaurants that do it better with more unique and high-quality seafood. There was a little interaction between the chef in the customers almost 0 interaction other than giving the sushi to us.

We were finished the meal within 40 minutes. To pay roughly $300 for under one hour seemed very rushed and the food and ambience and service she didn’t have total to that much.

Doesn’t include any desserts or appetizers as well.

I recently went to Zen Restaurant in Markham for dinner and my boyfriend and we enjoyed the chef's menu. The quality of ingredients used was of the highest standard and very fresh. Also, the servers were very attentive. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience.

Great sushi as usual...seiichi sensei always deliveres the best to their customer. That's why I keep coming back for the past 20 years (from Eglinton to now Markham location) and still one of my favourite sushi place in GTA. Definitely recommended.

Sushi is as good as some of the best sushi restaurants in Tokyo! Service is welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. Love this restaurant.

LOVE. Just amazing omasake! Came here to celebrate valentines day and no regrets here. Can't wait to visit again. This and their udon location, just loving the zen empire.

The lunch menu don't have much choice and the sashimi served during the lunch is small and not as fresh as those served during dinner time.
With the price that they charged during lunch hours, I don't recommend it for my friends.

The fish for preparing the sashimi is the freshest one I have come across with in North Toronto.
The dessert for my wife's birthday is excellent.
Definitely a Japanese Restaurant choice for special occasion.

We had the Omakase sushi menu at the bar. It was a nice experience as the chef told us what he made for us as he served the sushi one piece at a time.

Definitely a gem, undoubted one of the best sushi restaurants in GTA. My wife and I had their sushi course and from the appetizer to the dessert, every serving was so delicious but having the first sushi plate of six and then the next plate with seven nigiri all made the sushi dinner so special. Shari with light red vinegar rice was simply a treat. Service was attentive and gracious with real Japanese style "omotenashi". Really appreciated a thoughtful touch of red and white monaka ice cream for our anniversary!

We have a wonderful lunch with friendly service. Quality of my sashimi order is fresh and worth the value. I highly recommend to my friends to try the lunch.

Great sushi and Japanese cuisine, the rice can be improved better!

Omakase sushi and sashimi set
Pros: pretty presentation, special consideration for birthdays, they bring out special dessert, the appetizers were the best part of the meal, all very unique and a nice addition to just sushi or sashimi
Cons: With reservations the wait was 20mins, we were forgotten about until we actively asked to be seated again
Both my friend and I had upset stomach after the meal, given we had nothing out of the ordinary earlier in the day and the overlap is the set, it’s hard to imagine what else it could have been
Food: Sushi rice was not fresh and extremely subpar, hard and fell apart, I haven’t experienced this even with prepackaged sushi in a long time
For a special night, the atmosphere was very mediocre, while that’s understandably hard to control by the restaurant, it’s worth noting if you are going for quiet ambiance (for example kids on watching movie loudly) on the other hand, it IS family friendly

Overall: Sad to say it was a disappointing experience. Not all details were considered. While service was pleasant, nothing special and almost felt routine like - no personal touch

Not worth the price tag because other omakase in the same or even lower price range offers much better experience and virtually none of the cons mentioned

I’ve been there since three years ago, and I was very satisfied taste and price. But this time I thought sashimi’s quantity were fewer and Udon Dashi taste was not like before. We enjoyed their quality of soup, not this time.
Price stays as before, which is good but they should not cut down the quality, I hope keep the quality and if necessary they could make price up. I and my friends and family like Zen,
so I want tell them.

Very good food, very authentic Japanse food. Great service and ambience. Felt like I was in Japan for a little while.
