Comfortable, attractive place with excellent food and attentive service.. interesting menu, lovely presentation.. chef knows what he/she is doing
Just the thing for a relaxed, informal Friday night supper. Good value, active friendly service, decent grub. All in all, we’d go back.
Excellent restaurant very close to Chelsea market and highline. Food very wholesome and tasty. We had large group of 11 and Spaghetti and Meatballs was fantastic and plenty of it. Service excellent. No issue with recommending this place.
A pleasant neighborhood Italian place. Service was inattentive and the food was fair, but large portions.
Food and service were excellent. Tables were very close together but fortunately we didn’t have anyone right next to us. We’d definitely return.
We had the tagliatelle with mushrooms and the gnocchi bolognese. Both delicious. The wine was warm. There was a large party going on, but despite it being pretty crowded it was quiet enough to easily hear each other. Delicious and comforting Italian.
Great Experience! We had a large party and they handled it well. Good food, reasonable prices.
Delicious pasta and rice balls. The baked clams were a bit chewy.
We decided to dine here for our Christmas Eve dinner, and it was a fabulous dinner + service. The wine, bruschetta, and pasta entrees were delicious. A lovely ambience and the staff truly caters to you.
We were a party of 20! The staff handled it like pros! Everything worked out perfectly. Huge portions. Great food. Highly recommend!
1 waiter for the whole place. He was good but management didn’t staff up appropriately. We had to wait a long time for our food.
Wonderful food and staff was very friendly. Would definitely go back.
Delicious salads and pizza and very reasonably priced. Will go back again!
Service was polite, efficient and attentive. Food was very good, especially for the price range.
Convenient neighborhood restaurant with good, traditional Italian food and better than average noise level.
The food and decor was very run of the mill. The chicken franchese and shrimp scampi
were virtually tasteless.
Great food, service and portions. Would definitely return.
It's a good neighborhood place that isn't too expensive. The service was slow.
Food was great. But service was slowwwww. Like, go and find the waiter, slow.
Very good. Vegan Pizza was very good. My date enjoyed his salad. Thank you!!
Lovely pizza and salad. Got the Cesar and lo and behold it actually had anchovies in it! I feel like I never see that (though I'm not an anchovy fan but it felt fancy seeing them in the salad. Salad was great and not over dressed. Pizza was just the right size for two people (I can't imagine only one eating it but I'm sure it could be done!) Nice atmosphere and really liked the tables by the windows. The bar is nice too - I can imagine stopping in here for a glass of wine on my own!
Extremely hot inside and made it even hotter eating hot food. Waiter was extremely aloof and forgot to get entree orders for everyone at our table. Would not recommend.
Loved the style and ambiance of Zia Maria. Authentic Italian food and it was delicious. The pear and prosciutto arugula salad was delicious and a nice large size. Two of us split the salad and it was still plenty! We both had pasta dishes and they were both fabulous. The penne vodka was very tasty. The service was great, we weren't rushed at all, left us plenty of time in between the salad and main course to relax and talk. Their cosmo was one of the best I've ever had.
Pasta dishes okay. Watch out-no free refills on drinks!
Went there on PRIDE day. Busiest day of the year.
They were very short staffed. Only 1 waiter!!
It took one hour from when we were seated until we got the food.
Our drinks and coffee never came! Very disappointed
The Gnocchi is the best I have ever had!!!
It was ok. I have had better Italian food but it was close to where a friend was staying from out of town and she was hungry. Wouldn’t go back.
Though the AC was broken while we dined, the salad and brick oven pizza was some of the best Italian I’ve had. I think this is a fabulous spot for dining. They have an excellent wine selection.
Wait staff was rude and rushed us, the place was empty.
Amongst the best Italian food I’ve had in NYC
The food here was pretty good. I had the gluten free pizza (Salcicca) and it was crunchy and tasty. A good casual spot for gluten free Italian.
Food was absolutely excellent, and the prices were very reasonable for NYC. Service was decent but a little challenged - hard to get their attention for more than a second and sometimes a little slow - but there was also a very large party of about 20 people at the same time so that likely had their regular cadence thrown off. It was clear that everyone in there was working very hard and as fast as they could. All in all, I would highly recommend Zia Maria and wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Che Peccato... what a shame. Let’s see, where shall I begin. A group (2 Italians) make a res for an authentic Italian meal including pizza based upon reviews. The restaurant was full but immediately we noticed very disorganized without an identifiable Manager on the floor. Our server was overwhelmed (in his defense) with a huge section of tables spread out and only one bartender on a Saturday night. Therein lies the problem... not enough staff, not enough direction and no communication. Our drinks took 20 minutes and our food came out at different times. My pizza arrived 40 minutes after two other of my guests received their food. My fourth guest ordered pasta with a modification request and when we asked an older man who was running food and said he was the Manager (when asked) where was her Funghi pasta dish- he responded in an accusatory tone that she already got her pasta pointing to a dish that belonged to my other guest. He stormed off without apology and then our server returned apologetic (he forgot to put the order in) I also asked why did my pizza take so long and he responded that they had large parties that backed up the oven. Okay well would have been nice if the “Manager” would have told after waiting 20 minutes for a simple Margherita instead of sitting for 40 without anything while two out of 4 guests were eating... by the way funghi pasta dish cane last after we all were done. No apologies from the Manager, no discount or comp for the inconvenience. 2 stars only and only 2 stars because we felt sorry for the overwhelmed server. In Italian... Che Peccato... what a shame truly.
My best friend and my husband and I had dinner here before a screening at the Tribeca film Festival. The food as well as the service were excellent. I was very happy that they had gluten-free choices such as pizza and pasta. (Although I think five dollars extra for a gluten-free pizza crust is a little too high). They accommodated me by changing the sauce on my Gluten-free penne puttanesca, which was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding. We will definitely return!
The waiter was lazy and distant. Never asked if we wanted something from the bar. We had to chase him just to order.
The food was great, wonderful service - a real neighborhood find!
