Rats Restaurant - Grounds for Sculpture

Charming French gem in NJ with an atmosphere that transports you back to Europe! The food and service was excellent and would definitely come back here in the Spring/Summer.

The food was okay. The French onion soup was delicious. The burger however was overly greasy and soggy and the steak was extremely raw. The service itself was terrible and slow. The waiter never asked how we were doing, never checked up on us. I wouldn’t go back.

Love this restaurant! The food is fabulous and the Wait Staff is exceptional.

It was very pleasant and our Server very engaging and efficient!!!
Despite sitting outdoors in the chill (our choice) we enjoyed it very much!!

Great food in a lovely setting

Waiter asked for drink order but took for ever to comeback to take our food order. Food took too long to get to our table. It was about 25 minutes to get the bill and just as long for the staff to figure out how to use the credit card machine.
Definitely not up to standard for a Starr restaurant. Not up to Rat's standard either, we have dined at Rat's several times before.

Wonderful meal! We ate outdoors in 40 degree weather and the only thing wrong was that they need a couple of more heaters. Otherwise excellent food and service.

Crab cake was mostly filler and not the lump crab. Otherwise the taste was good. Branzino was moist, tender and crunchy on the outside. It was delicious.

Our first time eating dinner here and everything was incredibly delicious! The French onion soup was right there with the best I've ever tasted! Definitely worth the drive and we will be back to dine again!

It’s been a long tine since I’ve eaten at Rats.. but it did not disappoint..

Food was overpriced and overhyped. The place needs a reboot on all levels.

more than just going out to eat

The service was excellent; not too attentive, but available at the right times.
The food was exceptional: limited menu for New Year's Day.
The wine and spirit menu as well as dessert menu was excellent.
Due to limited seating, the dining area was very private and comfortable.

Delicious first lunch of the year!

Though somewhat expensive, Rats is a worthwhile experience which is why we keep returning as often as possible. The service really is spectacular.

The New Years Eve menu was delicious. Enjoyed sitting on the curved couch upstairs. Olivia and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Wonderful entrance. Seated us right on time 8:30 pm. Great team of waiters full of knowledge set New Years Eve 4 course meal. Food was superb and wine pairing fun with each course. My wife had Baked Alaska dessert which was set on fire for very nice ending toa special New years Eve dinner. We both would recommend Rats Restaurant

New Years Eve dinner - The food was amazing the presentation of all the plates was beautiful the service was great the atmosphere with the candles lit and being in a room that felt like I was transported to Morrico was a real treat along with the extra treats they gave including Madeline’s and French croissant..super!!

Fabulous as always! Outstanding, incredible, inspiring, memorable. From the time I pass through the main entry gates, the overwhelming feeling of warmth transforms me back to another time. I get the sense that I’m home, this is where I belong and not wanting to depart. This never gets old, just better each time, even after being customers for over 14 years. Our favorite room to dine is the the Geverny room next to the fireplace overlooking the pond and Monets covered bridge draped with weeping Willow branches.

Excellent venue for lunch or dinner, inside or out.

Very comfortable environment & covid procedures were in place. Everyone adhered to wearing mask & social distancing. Staff was very conscientious & diligent in following safety measures when taking orders, explaining the menus or serving. Very pricey& courteous.

The service and food were incredible! The restaurant and ambience itself was so beautiful and warm, especially with all of the Christmas decorations around and the fireplace roaring 🤗we will definitely be back!

Tables too small and not enough variety on menu

It was our Anniversary and we decided to go to Rats as we love the ambience of the place.
Everything about the experience was good except the server seemed very edgy and hesitant in the beginning. But once we ordered a bottle of wine the attitude seemed to disappear and he was very courteous going forward till the end of our meal.
We were surprised with a plate of dessert with Happy Anniversary written in it and complimentary portion of home made Madelines.
Overall good experience food could have used a little more seasoning.

Food quality has gone down over the years but service remains great. Overall feel is nice toward the evening when its quiet you can have a relaxing romantic evening enjoying drinks and food.

Would love some "brunch" items on the menu (omelet, pancakes, etc.).

Great service and ambiance, but think they should add a few more shrimp and crab to their appetizers, for the price you pay.
