It is not easy to find authentic Italian cuisine in the area. I'm glad I found Renzo's because they are it.
It was Valentine’s Day and we were celebrating our birthday month. They made it extra special for us. Service was amazing and the filet mignon & lobster risotto was perfect. The owner past by our table and introduced himself along with another blonde lady who was very attentive. Can’t recall her name.
We were upstairs in a nice quiet corner. Wonderful experience on Valentine'sDay. Great food, good service.
We were disappointed overall. I made the reservation two weeks before our date and we were seated upstairs where the tables are at most 18" apart. Instead of an intimate dinner for two, I felt we had dinner with strangers. The food was definitely good but not outstanding. The service was below average. My husband had to share his water with me (no refills). We even decided to forgo the dessert we had picked out. Just ready to leave.
We had never eaten at Renzo’s, but knew a few people who had been there. When we were searching for a nice place for Valentine’s Day, I looked them up on Open Table. The food is primarily Italian. My wife had eggplant parmigiana and I had a filet mignon with potatoes and spinach. We shared an arugula salad with almonds and pears. For dessert, we shared a puffed dessert with lemon filling that came with strawberries on top and chocolate gelato on the side. A Speakeasy is also available that is adjoining to the restaurant. Separate reservations may be made for the Speakeasy, or you may go in if you are dining in the restaurant. Renzo came by our table a couple of times to make sure everything was the way we expected it to be! The price was a little more than we would normally pay for a meal out, but okay for special occasions! All of the food was delicious!
Took my lady friend there for Valentines. Everything was excellent. I had the filet and she had the shrimp scampi. Everything was done timely and professionally. They even gave her a free rose! Certainly a place that we will return to in the future. Thanks for a great evening!!
Very nice Valentines Day dinner. Veal chop was wonderful and lasagne with meatballs was too.
Overall we thought it was a bit pricey for what you get. Veal chop was delicious. Sea bass, at $42, was good but nothing exciting. Biggest complaint was caprese appetizer...for $19 I was expecting delicious red tomatoes. What we got was a bland, sliced beefsteak tomato and two enormous basil leaves that required cutting up. I have to say, the mozzarella stuffed with a creamy, burrata-like filling was unusual and tasty and the prosciutto slice was good, but there was just one. The flatbread was also good. Abigail was a fine server and the ambiance, once we asked to be moved from the cramped, busy table by the kitchen window, was nice. In all, a good meal, but with so many other choices in the area, we won't be returning any time soon.
Food was wonderful as usual. Appreciated the rose for the lady when we walked in. Renzo as charming as ever.
Food was delicious. A bit different from most Italian restaurants. The difference made the experience just that much better. I had the eggplant parm. The eggplant was thinly sliced and lightly breaded and then rolled and stuffed with fresh mozzarella and fresh basil leaves and chopped tomatoes. The sauce that covered the dish was light and very mild. Best eggplant I have ever had. My husband had the lasagne with meatballs. Again he said it was the best he had ever had. Not your typical dish. Everything was so fresh and homemade. I could go on and on about every little detail that was so impressive with the entire experience. But you need to experience it yourself.
As always, the evening was great. Renzo's is the only place in town that we frequent, because the food is consistently wonderful. The service is perfect. The ambience is just what we look forward to. We love Renzo's.
Excellent - I think it's the best meal we've had in Hendersonville. The cuisine is truly authentic Italian, the atmosphere is romantic and charming and the service was personal and efficient but not rushed. We will definitely return on our next time in Hendersonville.
Great food, atmosphere, and a beautiful, somewhat quirky room. Can't wait to try the speakeasy upstairs.
To pricey for what you get. Poor to fair service. Average size portion. Not sure I would return but I do like to give a place at least two tries.
We are regulars and keep going back. It's excellent! Highly recommended!
The best minestrone soup I’ve had!
Food and service were delightful. Not rushed during the holiday weekend night. Will be back!
Very limited menu for Christmas
wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Meal was wonderful. Everyone was attentive. Will return. Sorry we were unable to see the new area.
We hav always enjoyed everything we have eaten at Renzos. The only complaint we had on our last visit was the noise level, which made it very difficult to visit with our friends that we had invited to join us.
Open on Christmas Day! We had a beautiful lunch. Pretty pricey but great food and service was impeccable.
Great service we sat in the private dining room upstairs. Excellent waiter food was fantastic
It’s a real pleasure to have such a wonderful restaurant in Hendersonville. The food is always good and the service is top notch.
We went here to celebrate Christmas Eve looking forward to a relaxing romantic evening. We ended up with a very rude and overwhelmed waitress. In the hour and a half we dined she may have checked on us once. Aside from the service, the lobster was overcooked and rubbery. The risotto and green beans were severely undercooked. Overall a very disappointing evening. Lots of other choices nearby for a better experience and way less money.
The food was traditional Italian and we were there on Christmas Eve that had a more limited menu
Some of the very best Italian food this side of the Atlantic. Ambiance was delightful as was Renzo. Very accommodating and welcoming. This restaurant is a true gem in the little town of Hendersonville.
The osso buco was excellent as was the trout dish. I have the osso buco everytime I go there. The side dishes that accompanied the main courses were excellent. We had a dessert with multiple fruits, which was very good. However, we liked the chocolate mousse better. Service was well-timed and friendly, and the wines were affordable. Although it's an Italian Restaurant, we went with the California wines and were pleased with them.
Renzo’s was absolutely amazing! We had our daughter’s 21st birthday here. The ambiance, the food, the service, everything was just wonderful. We ordered her cake, brought it in earlier, and when the staff and Renzo brought it out, they all sang Happy Birthday to her along with us and the entire restaurant! We had a wonderful and enjoyable evening, and one that we will never forget. Renzo himself was amazing! Such a fine person. You must go and experience Renzo’s for yourself!
Set next to a table of drunks, bur after they left, we had a very pleasant evening. Christian was very attentive and helpful.
Awesome food and awesome service!!
Renzo's is a wonderful restaurant all around. Beautiful setting, great service, delicious food. The Speakeasy upstairs is also so much fun. You can dance away the night and the calories you just ate!
Great for family. Ossobucco was great !
Great atmosphere for date night! Food and service was awesome.
Excellent food and service!
Dirty bread plate, stuck to the table? Not what you would expect from this restaurant. Maybe when Mr. Renzo is not there the move will play.
The restaurant was quaint and cute; however, the food was subpar for the price. It was all very bland. We also had a discrepancy with our bill where the tip amount & total written on the receipt did not match the amount charged to my card. Although it was a small amount, I did call the restaurant for an explanation which I did not find to be a valid/sufficient response. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant.
Fabulous veal piccata and incredible homemade cannolis. Renzo visited our table and was charming. Upstairs is a Speakeasy. Italian medium to low priced wine list choices.
Our favorite restaurant in Hendersonville. Service is always good. Food consistent and delicious. On Saturday nights we go to the Speakeasy which is so much fun.
Love the decor - what a lovely restaurant. Unique touches here and there and just a special place. The gnocchi was very good and enough to share - glad the two of us split this entree. I was VERY disappointed in the salad. I ordered the Caesar Salad with no anchovies and no Caesar dressing. I wanted to try the house dressing on the side. The $10 salad was literally a bowl of chopped up romaine, five croutons and one anchovy. The house dressing was VERY thick and VERY mayo based, so I didn't eat it. I took the anchovy off and again - a $10 bowl of lettuce and five croutons. No cheese. Nothing. The waitress brought some fresh grated cheese to add to it. (I ended up using balsamic vinegar and olive oil, which was just fine.) My boyfriend couldn't stomach the house dressing on his salad either.
It was a Sunday, so not crowded at all. One dropped fork by my foot...but otherwise the service was good.
Would I go again? Maybe to the bar...very cute bar area.
