Restaurant X & Bully Boy Bar
Don't recommend the brunch. Food is brought to your table, and cold by the time it makes it to you.
Dingy and dreary
I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Great bar, wonderful new ( to us) bartender, with excellent recommendations. A special of venison was excellent. Good service and great ambience.
Delicious food and wonderful service! A wonderful way to celebrate my Mom’s 99th Birthday! They really made it special!
Sunday brunch at Restaurant X & Bully Boy Bar is an experience not to be missed! The food was wonderful and the service outstanding. Come hungry!
the host made us wait to be seated for 20 minutes because they wanted to seat customers who booked through the restaurant first. we had to wait while he called no shows before he would seat us. the service was very slow we never got salad and anytime we asked for something it seemed like a bother. They seemed short staffed the manager was pitching in to help and he was the only one who was friendly. I’m not sure i would go back there for brunch.
Sat by the fireplace and it had great ambiance and noise level was low. Food was great along with the desert. Waiter very attentive
Rib eye special
My wife and I (31 and 34) have been going to restaurant X for about 8 years now and have always had a great meal and experience. The staff is always attentive and get the orders perfect. We’ve never had anything come out to us cold unless it was intended to be served that way. It’s just a very comfortable place (can’t explain it any other way). My wife an I have been to Saddle River Inn and places in Ridgewood like Roots but at the end of the meals have said that we should’ve went to Restaurant X.
We forget what a great place Restaurant X is. The food is exceptional, as is the service. The place is perfect: romantic enough for date night, but casual enough for “just going out”. We’ve never had a bad meal or a bad time at Restaurant X.
Brunch at Restaurant X is an amazing experience. We were served 18 courses (about 4 bites per course) that included pork, beef, scallops, salmon, shrimp etc. The service was excellent and they serve you unlimited sparkling wine. We’re definitely going to do this again.
Food was delicious. Salmon & cod were great. Shrimp & calamari “tempura” appetizer was very chintzy. It would have been nice to have had an amuse bouche as well as been offered another baguette.
Hostess needs to be friendlier and more welcoming. It would have been nice of her to have said goodnight to us as we were leaving the restaurant. Restaurant’s decor needs an updating. It is very dated. Wood paneling needs paint job. Glass vases holding rose need to be replaced. They are all cracked & chipped. Lighting in back dining room is awful.
X2O is so much more enjoyable.
We have been to this restaurant in the past and always had good experiences. We are also experienced foodies that know when you go out on Valentine's Day, experiences vary from a regular night out! Saying that, we selected Restaurant X with the expectations this would not be a issue! Our experience was so poor I contacted the restaurant by email the following day asking for only one thing, an explanation. Never heard back from anyone. It's bad enough our evening was ruined but to NOT respond says much about them. List of issues:. Valet backed up at least 15-20 min, wait past reservation time 45 min, Luke warn food, room very cold temp wise, 4 other tables , people wearing coats while eating (not very clean either), and there was more. Will not return and will not recommend, not based on our experience but based on lack of follow up.
Went there for Valentine's Day dinner and it was delicious.
Restaurant X has always been looked at as the premiere restaurant in the area. Over our last couple of visits the past couple years it just seems to be getting worse and worse. Can’t help but think that Peter Kelly isn’t reinvesting in his business. The place needs a good cleaning and new tables and chairs. The food was still good, but not as good as it has been in the past.
I was there on Valentine's Day. The parking situation is a disaster. Took 25 minutes from the line into the restaurant parking lot to exiting my vehicle. Waited 20 minutes beyond my reservation time. The restaurant looked tired. Food was average. Likely not to return.
Even though it was Valentine’s Day and the restaurant was packed, service and food were outstanding.
We loved it!!!
We go to X for the food and we were not disappointed. However, the place seems old. Our chair was broken, the corner setting was drafty, table placement was extremely tight, and the valet parking was farcical. Overall, I expected the ammenities to be better. But, the rose at t he end of dinner was a nice touch!
Valentine’s Day dinner. Everything lovely until we had to wait 30 minutes in the Valet line to retrieve our car. On a busy night like that, they need a better plan. It was quite cold out to be standing in sub freezing temperatures like that.
The Thursday night special is a great meal - well prepared and nicely presented. Great job.
Food and ambiance always wonderful. Philippe, as always, took good care of us.
Quiet cozy room for chatting with friends, food was great!
We have enjoyed many wonderful meals at Restaurant X/ Bully Boy since Chef Kelly converted the old Bully Boy restaurant to one of his own.
We have enjoyed excellent service and delicious, beautifully prepared and presented meals every time!
We always recommend Xaviar restaurants t our friends and acquaintances!
Best brunch ever! Perfect from start to finish ! I have enjoyed this wonderful, Cava freely flowing feast many times over the years and it never disappoints.
Enjoyable meal, food was delicious. Service was ok. I would definitely return.
There are few restaurants in Rockland that can equal the quality, and consistency of this masterpiece. No complaints. Just praise.
It’s a special place to go.
Love this restaurant. Excellent ambiance, wonderful food, superb wines, terrific bar service.
Outstanding service, amazing food. Quaint, rustic atmosphere. Overall excellent brunch experience.
Went for Sunday Brunch and enjoyed the food, ambience, service and overall experience. Will definitely go again!
The Thursday Night special meal was delicious and a bargain at $35 plus tax and tip. We should have been directed to the bar area initially which is where the "special" dinners are required to sit. Both Kelly brothers circulated inquiring as to our satisfaction.
Parking lot is a disaster. Cars waiting on roadway waiting to get into parking lot. No one directing flow so people from the opposite direction were “cutting” the line. You have to arrive around 12:30 for the 1:00 seating. We were seated in one of the back rooms - seating is tight, ceiling is low and noise level is extremely high. Our servers seemed rushed and our glasses were empty often. Need more staff - both inside and out to provide smooth service.
Arrive at least 30 minutes prior, the traffic and parking is crazy. We were shown our table, no greeting, and the food started to arrive. No discussion, no menu, no water, etc. It was all rushed. The food was good, but I wouldn't do it again, it was like fine dinning on a subway car.
We enjoyed our meal and loved our waitress, Mary.
We were avoiding this restaurant for a while since we didn’t see the menu change, but we enjoyed the specials and a couple of the standard menu items. We will be more open to coming back again now.
Always spot on and always a pleasure to dine in such a wonderful restaurant.
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The price fixe offered a variety of options and was very reasonably priced. We enjoyed the tuna and salmon. The shrimp appetizer was delicious and crime brûlée made an excellent ending too our meal. We were with friends and the service was paced well so we could converse and catch up.
Excellent meal & service. Always a treat to dine here.
Very good dinner experience. Love this place and will go back again and again. Love their brunch too
