Michel's at the Colony Surf
Wonderful dining experience. Food was perfection as was the service. Very pricey though at $200 for two with just one glass of wine. For a special occasion, it can’t be beat and Michael the maitre’d is a charmer.
A beautiful setting to enjoy wonderful food. Service was outstanding and I truly look forward to our next visit.
We came in to celebrate my wife and her sisters birthday, service was outstanding, the food was as good as we remember it to be, we will definitely be returning for our next special occasion!
Great service, this was me and my Wifes first true Elegant place of dining. And it was amazing. Our waiter was outstanding. Explained everything to us especially when we had a confused face. The food was outstanding and very delicious looking. Overall an outstanding place to eat at. A little pricey but for the good food and amazing view I feel it's worth it.
The best dining experience with a view in Oahu!
I went on a date with my boyfriend and we sat right next to the beach. The view was amazing. The food was delicious and the wine we had was incredible. Everything comes out slow and it’s very expensive, but it was worth the experience. I would highly recommend this place for a special occasion or birthday! Great service also!!
Michel’s was a beautiful restaurant with very good service.
My wife and I had dinner at Michel’s for our wedding anniversary. The food was, of course, delicious and more importantly the restaurant staff was excellent. The staff who took care of our table was very attentive and kind. This is a top notch restaurant with a beautiful view of the ocean. We will be back for our next celebration.
The food was good. Wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was the best thing out of the whole experience there.
Our waiter did actually forget that we ordered the table side spinach salad but he recovered pretty quickly and got it out soon enough.
My main disappointment was the service which was actually pretty good up until we were presented the dessert menu. I saw on the menu that they had soufflés available. I love chocolate soufflés and would have ordered one except for the fact that it takes 20 minutes to prepare.
I told our waiter that I would’ve ordered the soufflé had he told me earlier that it takes 20 minutes. His immediate realize was “it was at the bottom of the main food menu. We put it there so you can order it ahead of time.” REALLY?!?!
I’m paying $24 for six escargot, $36 for spinach salad, $16 for one glass of wine, etc. and you’re going to treat and respect me like some diner at a fast food joint? Instead of owning up and apologizing that he didn’t mention it earlier, he tried to put the blame on me! Give me a f*g break!!!
I love chocolate soufflés and always order it when I go to Roy’s restaurant. But even if I know about it, I won’t always remember to order it ahead of time. But, out of all the times I’ve been there (and it was many), our server ALWAYS mentioned it when taking our dinner order so we could place the order at that time.
When I go to a fine dining restaurant, I expect the service to match their prices. I don’t mind paying the prices demanded. But I demand the service that should justify those prices. It’s one thing to have mediocre service. But it’s totally another thing to blame the customer for your mistake!
I most likely won’t return to Michels. There are way too many other restaurants to choose from.
This place as always is wonderful. Great food and great service. Very kid friendly as well. I hope to go again soon
The service was excellent, as is the location. Our table was staring straight into the setting sun which was annoying. The food was excellent other than the lobster bisque that was a little underwhelming.
Went for my wife’s birthday. Food lacked salt across the board. Luckily, they have salt in the table. They gave her a free dessert but it was just a tiny bit of mousse. Underwhelming for the price of $50-60 a dish.
Ask for a table along the beach if you can - it doesn’t get more romantic or more beautiful in Waikiki. Upscale ambience and excellent French food, much of which involves table side service. Michel’s is a special date-night place that won’t disappoint. The steak Diane and seafood special were excellent.
Great ambiance and service(thanks Kalani!). We've celebrated our anniversary there the last several years and always enjoy it. We were pleasantly surprised with a reasonable tab this year, despite ordering 6 drinks. We were very content limiting the food to a few deliciously shared menu items. Bring a hat and sunglasses if you sit shore side before sunset.
Another wonderful evening at Michels. General Manger Phillip Shaw showed us to our beachside table. Chef Hardy came to visit with us 3 times during the 3 hours we enjoyed our meal. The chef prepared special request items for us which is always appreciated. The service and ambiance were both gracious and relaxing with the sunset view from our table. The food was excellent - we enjoyed fresh island fish and a chef's special entree (pork shank with guava bar-be-que sauce). Before the entrees we had abalone appetizer, caesar salad and their famous lobster bisque (soup).
My wife and I dined here on our last evening in Waikiki. The food was amazing. They have a respectable wine bottle listing. The ocean view of Waikiki is great (including the fireworks show Friday evening. That was an unexpected treat). Great restaurant and we'll definitely be back next trip
Michel’s is still my favorite . I love that they are so cooperative when you want to “ simplify “ a dish . My husband doesn’t like food that’s too rich , and he was able to get a simple preparation of fresh Opakapaka , and I could have all the “ fancy “ preparations , Lobster Bisque flambeed , Steak Diane also flamed at the fable , and we shared a Tarte Tatin for dessert . The views are gorgeous , and they still give the fabulous service one could get in upscale restaurants in the old days . In SO many other “ fine dining “ restaurants they have cut back on niceties like fine linen on the table , elegant lighting , etc . WHEN I pay top dollar for my meal like one HAS to do in so many places , I expect “ the full monty “ .
It was very nice and unforgettable birthday dinner!
I was here 50 years ago! Service is excellent. From the valet to the wait staff friendly and attentive.Soufflés were perfect. My chicken was a touch bland and dry. Others in my party said their entrees were very good.
Excellent attentive service, exceptional location for its beauty at sunset. Fresh produce , well prepared. Very memorable !
Great ambiance, food (try the lamb!), and service. Excellent, intimate setting. Will return!
Outstanding food, wine and cocktails menu selections. Gracious but attentive service. Beautiful ocean view.
Definitely Absolute recommendation for you for sure. This restaurant offers us fantastic night we’ve never experienced. Thank you for all of members in it. I hope to be there again.
On our 5th Waikiki holiday we finally got around to booking Michels. Unlike some restaurants we were ushered straight to our table which made you feel welcome. The drinks menu was comprehensive and had a good selection of wines by the glass. The escargot were outstanding and the seafood bounty platter allowed you to taste all of the outstanding seafood gems. The view is good but we now understand why the menu is so highly rated. Service was unobtrusive and prompt. Loved it and we will be back more often.
Brandon was our server and our lobster bisque maker very personable very professional and a great sense of humor he was super duper
We're still talking about it. Another table had an incident where a passing staff member tripped. Unfortunately the wine glass he was carrying flew through the air and shattered the wine glasses on the table, which ended up on the couple sitting at the table. It was mortifying, but it was a simple mistake. What was really impressive is how quickly all the wait staff came in and quietly, but efficiently, put everything back into order, and
the couple back to happy.
Great service and great food! Great view too! Nice place to have a birthday.
The service is excellent:)
I definitely would come back every time I visit Honolulu! Highly recommend!
Not good! Food was not good and waiters were overbearing. I accidentally overtipped my waiter by $60 (I meant to tip 20% but was upset about something else and did the math very wrong). It was an awful experience from start to finish.
Love you and always is amazing at sunset. The food offerings were great. And my server Jenna was awesome
Perfect sunset restaurant
Overall good restaurant! Good food, nice service, good people. The restaurant itself just needs to be updated. It seems so old and outdated. There was spider webs in the light sconces on the wall🤣 I went there 10 years ago and I felt it looked the exact same lol. Especially if there going to charge prices that are similar to the fancy restaurants today... they have to keep up with them as well.
