Stage Left Steak
Make the trip every year for my birthday. The best steak place around, with the best service!!! Love you guys and don’t mind the price at all! I am OK in paying for good food...thanks much
This is the best steakhouse I’ve dined at in a long time. Wonderful drinks and meal.
Had strip steak which wasn't the best. Pricey restaurant for quality of food. Don't mind spending those prices but expect food to be much better than it was.
We went to for restaurant week so prices were a bit lower than usual, for the price portions were small, none of the less it was good but not the best I ever had. Meaning that if the prices were lower that week. Ifw they're serving the same quality of food when the prices are higher it wouldn't make sense for me to spend that amount of money on okay tasting food.
Great meal and environment to catch up with friends. It was also amazing to meet the owner, who was incredibly welcoming. Will definitely be back!
Calamari and the Stage Left Burger were delicious!!
Restaurant week deak - very good food. Service was a little sluggish at the beginning but vey good afterwards. Mistake on the final check was quickly corrected. I had the calamari, the flank steak and coconut desert. Food was very good.
Service was great, food was ok. Management did take care of our issues, just a little disappointed the food did not meet our expectations for the price.
Wonderful experience! We will return soon.
Restaurant week promoted us to celebrate our anniversary here. We haven’t been here in many years feeling it was too expensive. What a mistake... prices are in line with other New Brunswick restaurants and the service and the food are outstanding. We had two appetizers...iberico ribs with chipotle sauce... delicious and fell off the bone. The Star was the tomato salad with ramps and fresh Parmesan...absolutely tasted like sunshine! We both chose the salmon for main course. The fish was cooked perfectly. The sides were amazing..charred corn and onions...delicious. We took two different desserts, the coconut sabayon and a bread pudding. We were surprised with a crepe brûlée decorated with a happy anniversary message. So wonderful! We enjoyed the sommelier’s suggestion for a French white wine that paired nicely with the salmon. A truly wonderful evening.
We tried the Restaurant Week menu and it was great. The food is thoughtfully prepared, seasonal, and delicious. The tomato and ramp salad was a real pleasure. Service was attentive without being overbearing. The wine and beer list is extensive and the waiter was helpful in making selections.
Overall, a terrific meal and the quiet atmosphere was a rare pleasure.
My boyfriend and I shared the bone-in New York strip on a salt block and it was absolutely fantastic! Definitely a wonderful experience and quite delicious.
We had a WONDERFUL experience and would highly recommend Stage Left!
I was disappointed in Stage Left. Restaurant week got us in the door, but we didn’t end up having the pre-fix menu. The Caesar salad was pleasantly large, but average. We are also on a search for the best cheeseburger in the state; the burger was good, the truffle fries were better, but still underwhelming based on how jacked up the prices are. HUGE bar menu. Dessert was also underwhelming- the sticky toffee pudding was dry. I would not come back here. I wanted to like it!
Great restaurant, we come once or twice a year and always enjoy!
We attended the 4th of July BBQ event. We shared the fresh corn risotto entrée as our appetizer - absolutely amazing! We enjoyed flor de cana 4 yr rum pina coladas - so yummy. For our entrees, we selected the Stage Left cheeseburger - we had sides of roasted asparagus and the mushrooms - just delicious. We capped off this decadent meal with the fresh raspberry crème brulee - words can't describe the lusciousness. All in all, quite the taste experience! And the service is impeccable.
Stage Left Steak never disappoints on any level. The food, drinks, atmosphere, wait staff and owners always make you feel special and welcome. A must for any occasion!
Absolutely the best hamburger I've ever eaten.. Already recommending the burger to all my friends and colleagues.. this is a gem right in New Brunswick NJ
This is the first time I've been to SL in years, probably decades...it was still as good as I remember. The salmon was perfect.
Never disappoints! Best quality and service. And that wine list...
It's a great place, with great service and food is so delicious.
Came here for a celebration when family came to visit. Great experience and even surprised with a special dessert at the end of the meal. Definitely recommend coming here to celebration any special event!
Alejandro was great. The food was superb. The atmosphere was delightful. Would definitely go back.
Disappointing. I came here to get a good quality steak. I ordered a flatiron to be cooked medium well. It was rare. In fact, rarer than my husband’s who actually ordered his steak rare. You have to order sides; nothing but the steak comes on the plates...Looks a bit lonely and bare. The staff was kind enough to give us a desert on the house (cost much less than the undercooked steak), a nice gesture nonetheless. I won’t come back here again. I’ll go to another place for a steak properly cooked.
We have been to Stage Left a few times. Each time we anticipate an exceptional experience but we are usually disappointed. This last time was no different. We saw that they were having a "lobster and Gin" dinner hosted by Hendrick's Gin, and it sounded like something we would love. When we arrived, we were surprised by how empty the restaurant was. We expected many more people to be enjoying a lobster feast. I ordered a lobster roll, and was given an onion roll (!) with a fairly small serving of the chopped crustacean. My husband ordered lobster tempura and was basically served an appetizer sized portion of battered fried lobster. Although the lobster entrees were all well priced at around $25, they came with nothing, and the sides were not well priced. By the time we were done, we ended with a bill of about $350 (after the tip) for three people. We wouldn't mind the cost if it was really great, but it is mostly "meh".
The burgers are still excellent, and worth the trip from Central NJ.
Love this restaurant but not tonight. First of all, never experienced it and I really do not like the fact they required my credit card to make a reservation in Open Table. I don't know if this is new but it leaves a very uneasy feeling.
As for the meal. Something just didn't click tonight. i'm not sure if it was the overly loud waiter or the reaching in front of me from the table clearing and other times. Lastly the meal was just mediocre. Not what I expect for a $300 meal. This is a far cry from my experience in the past and hopefully it is not a sign of the future.
It least it ended on a bright note with an ice cream desert in a rounded bowl of a salt block.
My husband and I had a great time at Stage Left. We enjoyed the seafood salad appetizer and one of the pepper appetizer specials. Our entrees and sides were delicious. The Staff was friendly, attentive and made the evening special. We are looking forward to visiting again.
Excellent dining experience!
Party of 4 for Mother’s Day Brunch at last sitting. We were seated at the foot of the kitchen entrance when many other tables were available. Requested to be moved. Two of us ordered filet minion each cost a$25 add on for a total of $69.99. Ordered medium and medium well. Both filets were presented rare and blue in the center. Obviously the chef do not cook with a food thermometer. Returned to the kitchen not once but twice. Came back inedible
Mother's Day Brunch had a nice assortment of apps and mains.
I went for a pre-mother’s day dinner. Had the the tomahawk steak. Food was excellent and service was impeccable.
Stage Left consistently provides fine dining in a contemporary and gracious setting with attentive service by staff. Meals are prepared carefully and delicious.
Amazing place & we were greeted with wax sealed menus and a special dessert for our Anniversary. Everything was perfect & can’t wait to go back!!
great food, great service, a little pricey and dessert menu needs more variety. cheese cake, sorbet or keylime pie would be a nice addition. otherwise a pleasant experience.
Always spectacular. Even when we are in a rush they still exhibit professionalism and grace.
The best burgers in the state! All the sides and drinks just as amazing!
Great food, great service, great atmosphere!
We went for the Easter Brunch and had a great meal. My husband is still raving about the "fried chicken" dish he had.
But...Really disappointed. I’ve been going to SL since it opened. It was a little bit of NYC in New Brunswick. Not anymore. It was lackluster, not anything special, tired. Needed a good cleaning especially the carpet. Maybe they are waiting until the construction next door to be completed...they should be planning an update. Btw the server did not which owner is Philip.
Hi Janny, We're sorry you were disappointed. Construction of the NB Performing Arts Center is presenting some challenges to our usual aesthetic standards. It will be completed in July. Btw: My name is Francis. There's no Philip here. That would explain the waiter's confusion. We're saddened that, with TWENTY-SEVEN years of great dinners, you wouldn't call us before posting your discontent publicly, and that your first OT review, in all that time, is a negative one. Francis (aka: Philip)
