6 Mile Chophouse
I really don't like giving bad reviews, but since you insist:
a. The service is weird! I don't know why 4-6 different people end up serving us (taking us to the table, water, menus, taking order, delivering food). Who are all these people?
b. This is the second time in the past few months I have been to 6 Mile Chophouse and both times the food was kind of "meh." It wasn't necessarily bad, but I could do better at home and when I go out to eat, I don't want to be eating something that I could make better (and a whole lot cheaper) at home. I want it to be kind of special. The salad was okay. The pork chop was okay (adding a little spice of some sort to the bland maple syrup might help) and lukewarm. The baked potato was lukewarm with a clump (yes, actually a clump) of American cheese and sour cream on it. The chocolate cake was dry and seemed to be a few days old frozen dessert (and I actually could buy better at the grocery store). And both times, we had to ask for bread. Apparently, as a savings measure, you don't get bread with your meal unless you make a special request.
c. Actually, the ambiance was fine until the end of the meal when a table for 14-20 was set up in the middle of the room and filled with very enthusiastic (and loud) young people. I felt bad for people who had gotten there after we did--that can't have been a very pleasant experience to eat with all that going on.
I won't go back. It's a little pricey not to be a better restaurant.
Decent but over priced. Service was average at best for that kinda money ive had alot better
Binrthday dinner- very pleasant
Eaten there twice great food great experience both times.
Families came together to celebrate grandma’s birthday. The dining room service was excellent, surpassed only by the food. Wonderful!! We’ll be back.
We had a lovely brunch! The omelets were great and the Challah french toast was outstanding! The large stack of pancakes was delicious and gigantic!
Great service and great food. Will definitely come back and visit. I will highly recommend this place to family and friends.
We like 6 mile very much. However, the music is usually way too loud. Music should be in the background, not so loud that it’s difficult to have a pleasant conversation with people at your table.
We traditionally attend a Mother's Day Brunch. By far our experience at the Chop House was the best ever. The waiter was excellent as was the food. We plan to attend this Brunch next year.
Normally 6 Mile is great...this time we were a little disappointed. Our server was very pleasant and apologized a lot, but seldom came around...forgot things...was not up to par as a server. Not very attentive. My wife's salmon was excellent, but my prime rib was mediocre. I ordered it medium rare, but it came out medium well and was an end piece. Forgot the au'jus and horseradish sauce. Then the au'jus was cold, as was the prime rib. We will go back, as we've always had good experiences there, but this time was disappointing.
Everything was amazing, food, staff, and our private room. Outstanding job!
To start with, the hostess didn't present the most pleasant personality. She seemed put out by having to seat us at our reserved time. The server was inexperienced, but made up for it in effort. You really should know your cuts of meat and be ready to offer recommendations when asked, but as I mentioned he did bust to try and make up for his lack of knowledge. The food? We both ordered steaks. One a ribeye medium rare, the other a KC strip medium. We ended up with two strips steaks, and if they were KC strips don't bother paying the extra for the KC instead of their regular strip because it wasn't that good. After trying to explain to the server that one of the steaks was incorrect, both in cut and doneness, I gave up and ate the steak that was presented to me. I never like to send things back to the kitchen since you never know when they may return to you or in what condition, so lesson learned. If it is a steak you want, and you want it prepared correctly, go somewhere else.
Great food and service as always!! Keep up the good work!!
Great food!! Great service!! Got loud for a few minutes, but quickly got quieter.
Full disclosure. I was on a first date and I really can’t remember anything except the conversation. From what I remember the food came quick, the waiter was, in fact, very professional, and the food was prepared properly. I had the KC Strip and she had a sirloin. The asparagus was well cooked. The decor is nice. I made the reservation online.
The food was excellent as well as the service! Very impressed and can’t wait to come back!
The food was amazing, as always. The service was pretty good! Jacob made great recommendations about food. A very nice place to go, especially for special occasions.
Service was terrible; I had to flag another waiter to get our server when we still had no food after 40 minutes after ordering (we had barely seen him since ordering). When food arrived, it was barely warm, not hot. The meat in three of the entrées in our group was overcooked. Another entrée arrived 10 to 15 minutes after the others, despite it being an appetizer ordered as the main meal. Service was so slow we were almost late for our following event. The excuse was, “the kitchen is slammed.“ it will be a long time, if ever, before we go back.
Our reservation was for five people. We had another person join last minute. We asked to be moved from a booth to a table to have more room and they pleasantly accommodated us. The server was very professional yet pleasant and attentive. We got a mix of appetizers and meals. Everything was very tasty and nicely presented. Large wine by the glass selection.
Great menu with appetizers and variety all the way to full entrees... our meal was served promptly on a busy basketball game night
Delicious food and drinks! The service was great! We had a fabulous evening.
Burnt ends were very fatty and the service slow.
Was over priced and did not meet expectations. The food was very average and nothing stood out.
Prices were too high for the quality and quantity of food. We had 2 prime rib sandwiches and a 7oz sirloin that was very small and overcooked.
Of all the restaurants on the corner of 6th and Wakarusa, this is, for now, the best. Wine down Wednesday's add to the recommendation as all bottles of wine on their extensive list are 1/2 price. The menu hasn't changed, recently. The crab cakes were OK. The chicken was tenderized appropriately with a bit too much sauce, perhaps it could be drizzled to the side. The Walleye was disappointing only because I am a fan of the fish. The breading was a bit much and it appeared to be cooked in too low a temperature as the breading had significant oil content. This all written, it was a very pleasant evening with pleasant wait staff (always seems to be case here). We will return.
We had a wonderful experience at 6 mile Chophouse! It was our first time dining there and we greatly enjoyed our evening. Top Notch drink selections including the best Moscow mules. We enjoyed their appetizers and had a full dinner. Service was wonderful.
After our experience Saturday not sure i would for a while. We have eaten at 6 Mile on other occasions and it has been good but Saturday was terrible. WE had guests with us and they couldn't get what they wanted as you were out of 2 items that they wanted. My husband's meal was not good either. He said it was the worst meal he had ever had there and the service was terrible. It was busy but i would of thought you would have been prepared for a busy evening and i made reservations so we planned ahead. It will be hard to take guest back there.
My wife and I eat out A LOT!! We have given 6 Mile several tries, but have not been impressed. Service is usually good and we like not having to go to K.C. for a steak. This time my wife ordered Prime Rib m/r and it came out refrigerator cold. Sent back and got medium well. My strip steak was equally unimpressive. On most occasions I order a baked potato. They just need to give up offering this. Underdone, barely warm. Ordered double bacardi and coke. Was more like water and coke. Silly enough to order a second. Same way.
The manager on duty did visit table, but was generic in response.
This place is always busy, but we just don't get it. Must be missing something.
This is our go-to neighborhood restaurant. There are now many on the corner of Sixth and Wakarusa. All are in walking distance (1 mile) from our house. While there is a TV in the dining room (which I dislike), there are more in the bar scene and restaurant bar. The seating is comfortable and the noise is reasonable to allow a quiet conversation. Sound deadening is sufficient to disallow hearing others unless they are sitting in the middle isle and happen to be loud. The food is reasonably good. On this occasion, we had share appetizers, a few salads, grilled cheese, pork shop. All claimed the food was good. The spirits menu and wine list are acceptable and diverse. The beer menu is short, particularly on tap. In general, we will keep going back. If we want a sports bar, we can go next door (same kitchen) or to one of the other establishments on the corner. But, for a quiet dinner with above average food, this is place to go on the corner.
Great Staff and amazing food. I arrived early for my reservation and was seated immediately.
We enjoyed a good dinner with choices from the happy hour and regular menu... service was prompt and friendly
Restaurant was clean and staff were attentive and very helpful. Server made 2 wine recommendations and both were excellent. Low marks come from how the food came to the table. Appetizers came before salad was finished and entrees came before either salad or appetizers were finished. At one time we each had a salad, appetizer & entree in front of us. Also portion of the baked potato was cool to the touch.
Overall it was a good experience and I would dine here again and recommend it to others.
Appetizers was cold, steak over cooked. Fries were good.
Enjoyed the meal, as always! Will definitely return.
We were there Christmas Eve. Our server seemed a bit overwhelmed and the kitchen didn’t seem to be on top of their game.
Found the food to be good-not great for the price paid. Impressed with the wine and beer list. Look forward to giving this spot another shot-didn’t match up to previous visits-but blame it on the holiday.
The food was actually fairly good, but the service left a lot to be desired. One of us ordered a vegetarian option, but both the salad and entree arrived with bacon although the waitress was alerted. The entrees came out well before we could eat our appetizers. The side then arrived well after we finished our entrees after our server was reminded of the order. Our server was, nevertheless, pleasant and friendly.
We frequently go to this restaurant because it is within walking distance (0.8 miles) and therefore can have a bottle of wine and a closing cocktail. Usually the ambience is reasonably quiet but this happened to be a very busy night, even with 615 reservations. It was quite loud. I suspect the business pushed the waiter to push us through the meal. After the fourth time of being shooed as we ate our appetizer and drank wine, he relaxed. The wine list was the usual reasonably wide selection. The appetizer (crab cakes) were typically good although the sauce, which is good, overwhelms the crab if you aren't careful. The meal was second in a row where I was disappointed. I had Ahi Tuna salad. The Ahi Tuna was not seared properly and was stringy. While still appropriately raw in the center the top and bottom were not cooked. Couple this with the previous time where the special was so heavily spiced the subtlety of the fish medley could not be tasted, perhaps folks should stick with beef/pork options. Will we go again? We probably will as it is the 'best' of the restaurants on those four corners. Is it worth driving across town? Maybe.
My wife’s lamb chops were overdone. The ranch dressing was watered down and flavorless. Management did a good job rectifying the over done lamb chops, we ordered a burger in place of them, which was not impressive by any means. For the amount of money we spent, we were not happy with the food and would not recommend this restaurant. The service was fair.
Steaks were over cooked and poor quality.
