Rats Restaurant - Grounds for Sculpture
Service as always was outstanding as was the food. Great go to.
Excellent food and cocktails! Very good service. Lobster risotto and seared di er scallops were outstanding! Creme brulee was only slightly better than average, though, and the chocolate semi freddo was a frozen too hard to eat...had to wait about 20 minutes before my spoon could penetrate. Once it had thawed a bit, it was worth the wait!
Birthday Lobster Risotto was delicious!! Can’t wait to go back
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Food and service were fantastic as well as the atmosphere!
We planned a wonderful day at Grounds for Sculpture with dinner at Rats. Our reservation was at which left us enough time to enjoy more of the beautiful gardens.
We chose to sit inside because of the heat but the view outside is gorgeous. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The bread was so delicious and chewy. The special on Friday is bouillabaisse. It was very tasty with lots of shellfish and branzino and served with hot popovers with a perfect crust.
For dessert we ordered the creme brûlée and a selection of ice cream and sorbets. All very good!
Everything was served efficiently and quickly. Would go back regularly if it was closer.
Waiter must be having a bad day. He took our order and never checked back with us till it’s almost time to pay. Nevertheless, he’s entitled to a bad day and we simply did not let that spoil our plan to enjoy our birthday celebration.
It’s like you’re in a Monet painting. The Monet bridge, water lilies, and sculptures provide a unique, relaxing dining experience. We all had burgers they were juicy and delicious. A duck wandered into the restaurant looking for a meal. Our server, Rob, was witty and made our dining experience pleasurable. He said the ducks do that sometimes. We will return to GFS and Rats again.
Fantastic ambiance especially for outdoor dining on a fine summer day. Menu changed for the better. Service is good and quick. Turkey Croissant sandwich was served with an ample size side salad. I had the trout entree and it was delicious.
Ice cream/ sorbet dessert was not only refreshing but presented prettily.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant and setting; very reminiscent of Giverny. Service was excellent. Food was good, nothing special for the money. The beauty of the setting should be experienced.
The setting was amazing and the food great. My only criticism of the evening was the music being played on the patio detracted from the ambiance. Odd playlist of pop? music played too loud. Unfortunately, we were told the music could not be changed.
The food was good. Service was excellent. I recommend the mussels and short rib.
Classy, great food and service. Beautiful view of grounds and lake. We were thankful to get a table outside.
Fantastic dining experience. Excellent food and very attentive staff.
Beautiful restaurant in an idyllic setting on the site of Grounds For Sculpture. The food was delicious, service impressive, and the restaurant itself is simply gorgeous. Drinks were on the pricey side, but there were a good number of wine selections that were reasonable.
I’ve been here quite a few times and it’s always a nice experience.
It was like dining inside an impressionist’s painting. Every thing was wonderful.
First time going for brunch. Awful. They were out of everything. We had drinks and left.
Beautiful view,great food and service
I absolutely loved this place! Grounds for Sculpture was amazing and the restaurant atmosphere was top notch!!! I will be back very soon
The setting of the restaurant was awesome. You really felt that you were part of a Monet painting. The service was wonderful and the food was really good. The value of the food was good and time spent in the restaurant was memorable.
Beautiful dining room and patio over looking gardens and a pond . Nice menu for Sunday brunch including fritatta, lox and bagels, and eggs benedict as well as salads and more substantial entrees. We enjoyed the food and the attentive service. Unfortuantly, a patio reservation is not guaranteed, so go when the restaurant first opens if that is where you would like to be seated. Visiting the Gardens for Sculpture is a must see!
Friends said we had to go to Rats. They were right.
Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere and views. Went for Sunday brunch and sat outside.
The food was very good and creative choices, including drinks.
It's an hour and 10 minutes away but we will definitely go back.
We dined there 15 years ago and it was remarkable. We had dinner there last Saturday evening and it was very disappointing. We had to get up from our seats in order to get our server's attention. Waiting along time for the entrée. The duck was served cold. The Beef was fair. Disappointing
This is a beautiful place with wonderful staff and service. Make sure you allow time to walk the grounds before or after dinner! Food is good, smaller portions so add an appetizer. Creme Brule for dessert cannot be missed !
We had dined at Rats previously and had an excellent experience. This time we received a call the day before to tell us we would be seated upstairs as there would be a private party downstairs. I asked several questions as we had never been upstairs and had a guest with us who had never been to Rats. Upon arrival I again discussed seating with the hostess. However, we were taken to a noisy table in the bar. Although we enjoyed the evening we were surrounded by members of the private party which made it a bit uncomfortable. My only suggestion is to be insistent about seating when dining at Rats. We totally enjoyed the food and service and plan to return to Rats in the future.
There were 2 private affairs going on which made the patio seating, a main attraction, unavailable. We should have been notified of this when making the reservation. The lunch menu was somewhat limited, although the food was quite good. Our sever was excellent.
We had an exquisite view of the outdoors from the second floor. Chris was attentive to our needs. The food was tasty and the wine had a good selection.
Even if the food wasn’t delicious, which it is, the ambience here is amazing.
We were fortunate to score outdoor seating overlooking the pond and the Monet bridge and were treated to just a beautiful view while we ate.
The soup of the day was watermelon peach gazpacho, and I’d return just for that, but had a delicious chicken salad sandwich with a nicely dressed salad.
My first trip here, but I’ll surely return!
Great ambiance and delicious food!
Beautiful setting. Great food and service! Family and duck friendly.
We went to Rats for an early lunch, and thence to the Grounds. The service was very good and the food, too, was very good. We sat out in the terrace and had a leisurely lunch. We were not rushed and were treated well by the staff.
Rats is a place to go when you want to enjoy your company and have time to linger over a meal. We did both and were rewarded.
Was amazed by the view from the patio! The food outstanding. the staff wonderful. Will be back 100%! of the course walking the grounds after lunch was spectacular as well.
It's been many years since my wife and I had been to Rats; our memories recalled a terrific meal followed by a disappoint one and so on. Ultimately we felt that the risk of mediocrity wasn't worth the risk to price ratio. Fast forward to 2019, we wanted a local-ish place but didn't want to go to our old haunts, we booked Rats. The grounds and atmosphere - inside and out we predictably exceptional. Hello old friend.
We were met with a surprisingly and welcomely (w?) menu that seemed more bistro than the older haute cuisine from years gone by. Refreshingly so. Not wanting to drone on about meal specifics (navel gazing IMHO) each dish was thoughtfully prepared, simple, fresh and well executed. Our waitress - Krista - was an absolute delight. Professional, fun, well informed, always there when we needed her but never hovering. Summarily, the facility has always been world class - this new (?) simplified take on modern french bistro fare with a farm to table motif is a welcome theme. Gone is the precious stuffiness; a little more relaxed and I feel a whole lot better. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommended indeed!
It’s been a while and so glad we returned! As before every thing was perfect!!!
A fantastic evening all around. Beautiful setting made us feel like we were far away on vacation. Great food and service, and a very pleasant group of people rounded out the night. Highly recommend.
As always, a great meal in a beautiful setting.
The patio is so tranquil.
I have enjoyed the experience at Rats restaurant a few times now and it has been better each time. Excellent food, nice people, and an aesthetically pleasing location... I will be going back soon.
Great food and ambiance
Great service. My friend ordered a hamburger medium well & she got it we’ll done and complained about it being dry. My chicken salad was just ok. Drinks were very good.
