L'Auberge Chez Francois
Food and service was outstanding. Took family for my wife’s birthday and we were not disappointed!
Everything was delicious and prepared to perfection! The garden-fresh vegetables and tomatoes were a special treat.
Only problems: loud conversation from nearby table. Could have been seated a bit further away. Why not? Bigger problem is loud-mouthed American diners. Couldn’t get their conversation out of our heads. Other problem was non-native English of servers was not easy to understand. And in some instances, servers did not accurately understand what was said to them. But the food and drink were top notch.
As always, delicious food, left more than full, and never rushed. Worth every dollar.
Honestly for the price I'd be hard pressed to sincerely recommend. Although the food was very good it was far from outstanding and a fixed price steak dinner for $85 was a little more than what I feel was worth the entire experience. Again very good but not great.
Excellent food but offering a four course prix fixe menu for lunch was an unpleasant surprise. None of our party of four wanted that much food and two of the party do not drink wine. Thus we were paying for excellent food we could not eat as well as wine that was unnecessary. We have been coming to this restaurant for years but may have to find another venue for our celebrations as this approach to the menu was a disappointment.
Wonderful! Just the way fine dining should be. The best restaurant in Northern Virginia!
As always L'Auberge is a wonderful experience. While I have gone on multiple occasions this was a first for my guest (it was also her birthday) she had a wonderful experience and I appreciate all the service and attention to making this a great evening for her.
My wife and I have always had great service and food here. Francess, our hostess, was excellent. She was attentive and accommodating. The stock in my bouillabaisse and my wife's mussels were a little bland. The soufflé was fantastic. Overall, we were very satisfied.
Sunday brunch in the garden on a cool summer afternoon was wonderful. With butterflies and hummingbirds nearby and the vegetable garden at a short distance, even the always excellent service, food and wine seemed somehow just a little better than usual.
A wonderful evening on the Patio! Sami was awesome as usual! And Chef Jacques’ tomatoes are amazing!
Our favorite dining dining restaurant in the world. Always a delicious, outstanding experience for 25 years of celebrating there.
We were joined by another couple for an early Saturday night dinner. Cocktails before and fixed price menu resulted in an excellent multi hour meal. The bottom line is that we all said we would order our meals again. Entrees included soft shell crabs stuffed with lump crab, trout with crab and almonds, mixed grill, and a halibut dish. Pricy until you factor in the tasty food and a special evening with friends.
We enjoyed an anniversary lunch, and the service was, as always, outstanding. I didn't like the "Sea Bass" on the daily special. It looked more like a trout filet and didn't have an ocean taste. Whenever I have had sea bass, it's always a nice, thick chunk of fish with large flakes. Otherwise, everything was great. My husband swears L'Auberge's bouillabaisse is the best he's ever had.
Truly amazing experience! Food was spectacular with a special touch on every dish that came out. My girlfriend and I enjoyed it so much! Service was great, Thank you folks for making our day so special .. we will definitely be returning back soon!
great food and "white glove" service. Don't expect a quick lunch, this is a place for relaxing and enjoying your lunch mates
Having read all of the glowing reviews, we decided to celebrate a important event and it called for something extraordinary. L’Auberge was all that and more. From the moment we arrived until we walked out the door 3 hours later, we were enthralled and pampered. The food, the wine, the service and, just as important, the ambiance - casually elegant — was all as promised. Already planning our return.
And if I’m able to give more than 5stars I would’ve. Everything was impeccable, from the moment we were seated until we left. The service is fantastic.. Edmond and Wilbert were so accommodating, friendly and helpful- they made our experience even better. The food: literally everything we tasted was amazing, and the chef’s amouse bouches were delicious.
We walked around the garden and the farmed area. The setting is so pretty, the place feels like Europe.
First time there but definitely won’t be the last!
Thank you for a memorable evening!
Always have been the best in the DMV and they still hold the crown! The food was fantastic and the service impeccable. Lots of amazing choices for every course. They make every meal a special occasion.
Dining at Chez Francois is always a treat. The ambience is lovely, the food is delicious, the service is exceptional. A lovely dining experience.
Fabulous food, a wine list with excellent and hard-to-find regional wines, and attentive service. This is not not high-style French or nouvelle cuisine, this is the comfort food you never knew you needed from the Alsatian grandma you never knew you had.
Excellent and always unmatched flavors and service!
At lease once a year, my wife and I go to L'Auberge Chez Francois (for our anniversary). The staff is great and the food is fantastic. Every time they treat us in such an outstanding manner.
We will be back - hopefully sooner rather than later!
Excellent Food, Service, Ambiance... Perfect spot for a special ocassion
Another wonderful family celebration...thank you to all the staff, and kudos to M Haeringer...
Charming and attentive servers and delicious food--what more could one ask for, in a delightful setting? Nothing more. This was a wonderful experience!
A simply delightful dining experience. Our server, David, really helped with choices that brought out the best of each of our selections.
Still superb after all these years. Fine classic dining. A pleasant change from loud, trendy places and small plates. We particularly love the dignified pace of the dining experience. We received water, bread, and a cocktail menu instantly upon being seated. Then we were left alone to enjoy our drinks for 10 minutes or more. Then the server brought menus, discussed the night's specials, and gave us a decent amount of time to make up our minds. In all, dinner for two ran well over 2 hours, which was exactly want we wanted. We will return.
My favorite restaurant. The food, service and ambience makes this a 5 star restaurant. Because we live a distance away, we only go on special occasions. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for the best.
Enjoyed our dinner while sitting in the garden in a gazebo. Lovely evening. Nice and quiet do we really enjoyed each other's company. And, of course, the food! It was excellent, as always. My husband had the tournedos, they we cooked just the way he liked. The lamb was cooked to perfection also. We always enjoy our visit each time we come.
The food was excellent, but the service was a bit slow.
Excellent as usual !!
L'Augerge is a unique experience, from the decor to the menu selections. It's hard to find another French country inn to visit for lunch. We've been enjoying the place for over 20 years and hope for another 20!
Simply a classic. Corny, dated, predictable and JUST AWESOME!! Love everything about it. Quintessential Alcasian cuisine. Don’t eat for the day before! A feast!
Another excellent lunch at L'Auberge. Service was impeccable and all courses were delicious. The asparagus and country ham with gruyere appetizer was outstanding. No stringy asparagus here - peeled as they should be. Lunch is a great value considering you get a small glass of wine and four courses. What impresses the most is the consistently wonderful food and service over the many years. Old fashioned, perhaps, but there's a reason the restaurant is top-rated in the DC area.
This is, for us, unquestionably the best restaurant in Northern Virginia. The only restaurant that meets the L'Auberge experience is the Inn at Little Washington, and we like the ambiance and staff presence of L'Auberge better. We come here for special occasions. This occasion was our 60th wedding anniversary.
I have recommended this restaurant to many people. We visit DC yearly and this restaurant is my absolute favorite dining experience.
