Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Reston
We celebrated my and my husband’s birthdays today with family members. We are members of the wine club so we were able to enjoy the Collaboration Pinot. Our waiter, Zac, was attentive and answer all of our questions. The wine was delicious and the food was fabulous, as usual. We always enjoy our time at Coopers Hawk. See you another time!
Service is starting to be hit or miss
Excellent food and service. Portions are generous and the selection of wine is outstanding. Servers are very good at suggesting wines to go with your meal and will even give you tasters based on your preferences to zoom in on what you really like.
Outstanding selection of wine and food! Service was excellent, but had minor slips on requests for a straw and chopsticks. Will DEFINITELY be going back!
Great restaurant, I've been a handful of times. This was my first time dining outdoors on the patio and I was very unimpressed. Food was great, but service and everything else was rather neglected. It took about 15 minutes to get our glass of water, and we finished an entire bottle of wine before the entree even came out. I would dine again, but indoors.
My husband and I had a nice dinner out at Coopers Hawk. It was a Friday night and the restaurant was hopping - clearly a popular place! Though we had a reservation, the hostess quickly informed us that they were rather behind. We waited about 20 minutes for our table. It wasn't a huge deal, but it was made less comfortable by the fact that the bar was too crowded to obtain a drink while we waited. I had hoped to be seated in a booth but rather we were seated at a table very much in the open with a lot of the bustling of seating and serving tables going on all around us. Next time perhaps we'll go on a weeknight and request a quieter booth in our reservation:) As for the food - it was delicious, high quality and creative. We will certainly go back!
The service here was absolutely horrible. Our server disappeared for long stretches and we had to flag down other servers to try and get what we ordered including wine and appetizers. By the time our main courses came out, we’d been at the restaurant for an hour and a half. My steak which I ordered rare came out medium well and my husband’s short ribs were so salty, they were inedible. Of course our server had completely disappeared at this point, so we couldn’t even tell him in hopes of correcting the issues. Such a waste of time and money here.
I came in for Lunch with my friends for my birthday and had a great time! From the very beginning we were walked to our table by one of the ladies at the front desk and she told us a little about the wines since it was our first time, even offered to have a taste brought to us! So sweet. Our server was Kevin and he was fabulous, everything came out perfect and coursed. Offered more cocktails and cleared everything we weren’t using anymore, perfect manicuring as we could see he did with all of his other tables! The food was delicious as well but the service from the whole team made our experience even better! Thank you!!!
I love this restaurant chain. My food was delicious and the wine was great. Our server was a bit questionable but regardless it didn't ruin my experience. I came for the great food and atmosphere.
Ambiance is wonderful. We were seated outside which was very pleasant and afforded easy conversation. Service was prompt but unobtrusive. Portions are generous and well presented. The fish and chips is surprisingly delicious as is the crab and lobster bisque.
It was a wonderful evening with family . Our waitress was great she knew when to serve and when to leave us to our family chatting. Very personable
The food was excellent...when we finally got it. The lunch was 50 mins in coming and I had to catch a flight. The server was awesome. I gave here my CC ahead of the food so we could be ready to eat and run. The manager came over and apologized profusely for the delay and fully covered our meals. Very nice gesture and it was greatly appreciated. Again, the food are our server were excellent.
Drinks were great, meals were good. No complaints, better food quality than expected.
Excellent wine pairings with food choices. knowledgeable staff. Very professional and courteous. Our food was fantastic, the ambiance was divine, and we had a great evening.
The food and service was great. A great place to gather with friends.
Delicious food + great service = great lunch!!!
The food is usually so good, but last might was a disappointment. The Brussels sprouts were not the usual goodness and our service was awful. Definitely an off night.
Love this place and will continue to be a Club member!
We had a work function and a pretty large party. The service was excellent and the entire party was happy with their food.
This place hits a home run every time.
If you have a lunch engagement I would highly recommend Coopers Hawk.
They get it!
We had an extraordinary dining experience at Cooper's Hawk on a fairly quiet Sunday evening. Perfect place for adults -- not sure why parents would bring infants and small children to this venue? During our appetizer phase, calamari and the bacon & cheese plate, both amazing, we also were given tastings of a few of the reds we were contemplating ordering a bottle of for the evening. Our waiter was extremely experienced in serving in the dynamic environment - lots of moving parts, gracious, and very kind, even while picking up the numerous pieces of a broken glass - oops! Amongst the group of five, the caesar and wedge salads, trio of filet mignon, and scallops were all excellent! Having seen the selection of desserts on the way in, we really tried to save room, but were unsuccessful! Next time wine and something chocolate! A great evening was had by all!
Kevin was our server and he was great. We had some gluten sensitive people in our group and they had a separate menu for that!! Everyone was very happy to see that! It was a great meal, the non wine drinks aren’t great but otherwise highly recommend!
The evening started out with no silverware on our table. They finally brought out the bread which was basically enough for one person and we had five at our table. Service was very slow. The bartender was unable to make a Singapore sling. My wife was served the wrong dinner. In my opinion there were some major issues with the kitchen and in their organization. We had been there before without any issues But tonight was not a good experience. Not sure if we will be back.
We are wine club members and love the food, but the service has gone down considerably over the past couple of months at both Reston and Ashburn locations.
Didn’t see a waiter for 15 minutes after sitting down. Then, order drinks and didn’t see them for another 15 minutes. We asked for bread but never got it. Manager gave us a free app, but this caused us to miss our movie.
Recently joined and so glad I did. Service, food, and atmosphere were of high quality. Best feature is the of the month wine.
Server took forever to get us utensil and bread before food was served. (got all at once when food was served at that point bread was no use...)
We dined at the Cooper’s Hawk in Reston with my parents in law for my wife’s birthday dinner. Our evening was sub-par when compared to past visits and the experience I believe they are trying to create. Overall this visit was “okay”, but not worth what it cost us.
The primary shortcoming was the service provided by our waiter. Things started off alright; the waiter was polite, and he was punctual with taking our drink orders. He seemed a bit flustered, though, as he approached the table and interrupted our conversation to introduce himself and ask for drink orders. The pace of our interactions quickly changed from feeling punctual to rushed. We were served a round of waters and were still waiting for our drinks to come out from the bar when the waiter began prodding us for appetizer and entree orders. We requested a little more time. We placed our food orders once we had a chance to look through the menu while trying to maintain a nice conversation. After the food orders were placed, the pace of the service slowed way down. Eventually the waiter stopped by our table to inform me that he had trouble submitting my side order of scallops, and he said to let him know if they didn’t come out with the rest of the food. We tried one wine and decided not to try anymore because of how infrequently we were now seeing our waiter. The apps and entrees came out at a nice rate (sans side scallops). I wanted to inquire about the scallops, but no one checked on us until we were almost finished with our entrees. I asked the waiter to cancel the side order when we finally saw him again, which he did without issue. At the end of the evening my wife had boxed and bagged her leftovers. When the waiter was rearranging some items next us, he bumped the leftovers off the table, said “Oh sorry!”, and continued what he was doing without picking them up from the floor.
Secondarily, the gnocchi carbonara was not impressive. I expected it to be better than the carbonara I make at home.
Appetizers and drinks with friends went better than planned. Naz (I hope I got that right) was very patient and attentive to the individual needs of a group of eight. Food and wine was excellent. Always happy to have visited Cooper's Hawk.
A gem of a find in Northern Virginia. The wines of their own winery are excellent. I would say they are better than most of the ones you get at Virginia’s many wineries. The food is very tasty and fresh, particularly the seafood. Our waiter was extremely courteous and knowledgeable. Joining the Cooper’s Hawk Wine membership is a great deal any which way you look at it. We signed up for 2 wines a month at store pick-up. The charge is around $36.95 as far as I remember. And you get a free wine bottle. Plus many other benefits of membership including exclusive discounts.
Meh - the food was good - I had shrimp and scallop risotto and it was tasty and full of fresh veggies, but not the creamy risotto I was expecting. Warm pretzel bread at the table would be better with a liberal amount of SALTED butter. Service was distracted and we had to ask for drink refills multiple times. All in all the food and ambiance are good but my entree was $32 - total check table of 4 $140 - and that's more than I want to spend for "so-so" service and "good" food for lunch.
The food selection was amazing. We have nothing but great experiences at Cooper's Hawk
They need to have more tables for group of 10 and 20 people available!!!
Very fun place to visit, taste some wine and get a great meal.
We've been to Coopers Hawk before. They have an interesting menu and the food is always good. What pulls my rating down is that the service is lethargic.
Our waitress was very pleasant and was usually "available"; so I suspect that the long waits for beverages & food were due more to getting items from either the bar or getting food out of the kitchen,
Birthday celebration. Wonderful , outstanding waiter, Jonathan
We had a bad experience with our waiter. He seemed new and there was no manager that was shadowing him to make sure things were going well. We waited and waited....sigh. I am a member of their wine club and we had a great time even though our meal took over 3 hours. The first hour we were just waiting to order. We tipped our waiter anyway, because we could see he was floundering but trying. I do wish they had put him on the floor with a manager to oversee him.
Indifferent, very slow service. Also, there were 5 or 6 empty tables around us with dirty dishes on them for extended periods of time. Server asked us to help him pick up dishes on our table. Generally unfriendly, aloof staff. Food is really great, but this place is not a pleasant experience.
Our waiter Wesley Haleck was the BEST!!! Would come back just to have him as our waiter!!!
The Customer service is great. The kitchen continues to create delays due to the lack of care used when preparing, stocking meat on the line "crowd pleasers", and plating standard food with some level of care. Front of the house Management and servers are absolutely amazing; however, their day becomes a bit complicated when the kitchen falls short.
Lunch with family member who had never been to Coopers Hawk!
