Farmers Fishers Bakers
The food was delicious! Shrimp scampi was so amazing! Salmon was good too, but the best was the coconut, cucumber and ginger mussels steam pot!
15 minutes after reservation time still had no idea when I will have my table ready.
We truly enjoyed the atmosphere and the array of food options. I wished that I was aware of restaurant week prior to ordering.
First off the food was outstanding. Great selection and choices to choose from. You will find something you like. We had the a watermelon and tuna appetizer and a tuna tower as appetizers. Both were very light and flavorful but not too much for an appetizer. For our main course we selected blackened catfish and prime rib for a bit of surf and turf. Both were excellent, very tasty and fresh. While the portions are not large they are exactly the right size and for a reasonable price. The only draw backs we saw was the service was very pleasant and nice but a bit slow on the bar service. Our drinks came out after our appetizer and we were really never asked if we wanted another one. We had to track down our waiter to get another one. We gave up on another one and opted to check out some of the other local restaurants. The other draw back is it is a very loud inside the restaurant. It is well decorated but mostly concrete with little to absorb the sound but we will diffidently be going back.
I have been here a few times before and my experience has been great; however, I will not be going back during Restaurant week.
There was a wait despite our reservation (because the restaurant was very busy)
Quality meal, good staff
We loved the brunch @ FFB! It was a great place to celebrate my daughter’s birthday.
First time I haven’t loved my experience ... our waiter was extremely nice but slow forgetting orders, refresh of drinks, etc
As for food, some of the staples seemed old ... French toast was too greasy like it had been fried in oil that wasn’t hit enough ... eggs bland with other items that weren’t replenished fast enough. I still love this spot and appreciate other waiters and staff who helped when our server wasn’t available.
This is normally one of my favorites for lunch or dinner, but service during brunch was surprisingly poor given that we get our own food from the buffet. Had to request coffee multiple times, given a dirty cup, took 20 minutes to request check and have it picked up.
Beautiful day, fantastic view, delicious food and friendly servers—that about sums it up!
Always a good time. Food is always good. They’ve changed the menu since I went and it is even better!
We had a wonderful evening at Farmers Fishers Bakers. We had a reservation for 9pm, but we were not seated until 9:20pm. The waiter was wonderful and the food was amazing. It was loud and tough to carry on a conversation, but it was Friday evening and the restaurant was packed!
Food didn't take very long to come but the waiter was hard to find when needed.
It was just okay. My margarita was not pleasing. The service was underwhelming. The food was okay.
Went for restaurant week and my daughters bday. You could tell that restaurant week somehow annoys the waitstaff at a minimum. The service was pretty darn bad from a slowness and timing perspective, for example 15 minutes to get a drink. The food was just ok at a minimum and we had a large sampling including salads, burgers, pizza, onion rings, ice cream, etc. I am a huge fan of this group of restaurants but this one has become like many of the others at Georgetown waterfront...overpriced, with average food at best and amazing scenery.
This is a great place to dress up and meet friends for drinks and good food. This is NOT the place for a relaxing meal with my two kids! Too fancy, too loud, too many temping cocktails! It's near the water, but you don't actually get a view of the water. I love farm to table type restaurants but I was hoping for more farm style. Next time I come with my girlfriends and without the kids!
Delicious food, lots of options and friendly service! Thanks!
My meal at Farmers Fishers Bakers was the best I had during my visit to DC. The fried Brussels sprout salad with blue cheese was a fresh and delightful change from your average salad. There are no words to describe the Scallops Meuniere' served with risotto. Seasoned perfectly with scallops cooked to perfection! This restaurant will be on the list for my next DC visit.
I have been to FFB before and loved it. I went with my family and it was a disaster. I asked the server if the chicken tenders (which my kids ordered) were spicy - she said no. They arrived and the tenders were not plain (had some spice), the onion rings were unedible they were so spicy, and the red sauce that looked like ketchup was actually sriracha (and they failed to mention that). So my kid dipped the chicken nugget in the sauce and took a bite.... it was downhill from there. The server didn't seem to care about it. The manager did comp the dish, but it didn't make up for bad service, and the fact that the server straight-up lied about the spiciness of the dish, knowing full well it was for my kids.
It had been a while since our last visit, so I don't know if this was just an off night, or if the quality has slipped in general. Our dinner was okay, but it was not worth what we paid. It seemed less like the farm to table fare I was expecting, and more like fast casual (think TGIFridays). The "tableside" guacamole was unceremoniously delivered to the table with a handful of brittle chips. Two of us ordered salmon, which itself was fine, but the accompaniments were subpar. The green vegetables had the brownish appearance of canned vegetables, but the texture of raw vegetables. The slice of sweet potato was mushy. The highlights of the meal were the nitro iced tea, the spinach salad, and the ice cream. And the service was quick and friendly. In the past, we have enjoyed dining here before going to shows at the Kennedy Center. Based on this most recent experience, though, we'll be exploring other pre-theatre options.
We had intended to order off the restaurant week menu, but we found it quite limited in general-only salads made the price cut set by the restaurant under appetizers and half the entree choices were excluded for the a reason. Add in the fact that one member of our party had food allergies and her choices were limited even more.
Hi KarlA: Thank you for your RW review. I am real sorry to read that the options were deemed limited on our RW menu based on the price limitations (any entree for $18 or less at lunch or $28 or less at dinner). Our team feels badly this was your takeaway and we do hope for the opportunity to have you & your guests back for another try! Please call us at 202-298-8783 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Totally overpriced and not very tasty. Way too much mayonaise with the sushis. The entrees were ok, but not great, steak was not very tasty. The desert selection for the Restaurant Week menu is very limited and not even good.
Hi lyne: Thank you for sharing your RW review with us. I am very sorry to read that this visit left much to be desired in both quality, quantity and flavor. :( We also feel badly that the dessert selection was considered limited. This said, our Culinary Team has read your feedback and will take what you shared into account. We appreciate it and please call us at 202-298-8783 for any reservation help needed in the future. -Amy
It took 25 minutes to get a cocktail because the bar "was backed-up." Food was OK. Don't know if I will go back. So noisy inside that we chose to eat outside in 94 degree heat and 99% humidity rather that have to shout at oneanother and still not be able to hear.
Hi Alice: Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am very sorry that the bar was slow & somewhat behind in cocktail preparation, the food only deemed "OK" and that the restaurant was too noisy for true enjoyment (please know we are always happy to turn down or off the music when requested). This all said, we do hope to have you back for another try and I will send you a PM to keep in touch. -Amy
Amazing food!! Wonderful service
The food is very consistent and good. They have a great variety. I ordered a dish with no onions and my friend ordered a dish with no cheese, and both entres were wrong and had to be sent back and remade. The service tends to be a little slow and it is noisy.
Hi Marjorie: We appreciate your kind words for our food, and at the same time, also appreciate you letting us know the areas of your visit that need some fine tuning. That said, I am real sorry for the miscommunication & mishap that took place with your orders this time, and also feel badly that service was slow-paced. Please know, our Management Team has read your feedback and will apply what you shared to making improvements to the overall quality of service we aim for. -Amy
The food was decent, but the service was terribly slow! My colleagues and I went for the Restaurant Week deal. We ordered at about 12:10, and our salads didn't arrive until 12:45. Overall, it was a two hour lunch. Two hours! And it's not like we were lingering over coffee; that's just how long it took to get our food.
The salads were all fine, but nothing to get excited about.
For the main courses, my colleagues said the honey pot fried chicken was quite good. The skin on my brick chicken was rubbery rather than crisp, though I did enjoy the "farmer-roni."
The desserts were pretty good. The devil's food donut wasn't as rich as I might like, but it was fine, and the ice cream was good. My colleagues said the carrot cake donuts were great.
To summarize, the food is fine but nothing special, and the service is very slow. (But the view is beautiful!)
Very very noisy. The food was good but the service seemed unorganized
Came for restaurant week - excellent offerings for that. Good quality was pretty good. But service was subpar. My appetizer never came. One of the six entrees at our table was wrong. My desert was wrong. Didn’t clear plates from table when brought next course. Server never asked about drink refills after initial pre-food order. Hostesses also seemed inexperienced. Overall, chalked it up to new, not very experienced front of the house staff. But it was enough to turn me off from going again.
Food was really bad.
Food was good as usual, had the garlic pepper wing starter and they were sweet with a hint of garlic. Prime rib and sides were seasoned well and good portion however the service was incredibly slow. The waiter seems confused on what to do with the tables he served. Decadent prices and ambience was busy, hopefully a better experience next time.
Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am really sorry to read that the service was slow-paced and somewhat missed the mark this time. :/ We appreciate your feedback and our Management Team will follow up with our staff that worked during your visit on Sunday. -Amy
We enjoyed the food however the service was lacking. I asked our server about the different drink bowls and she acted bothered and said they are all pretty much the same. Why would there be 3 different drinks on the menu but be the same. I had to ask her to ask the bar staff to get a real answered. Once I ordered the bowl of punch we wanted she quickly took the coffee glasses away and walked away not allowing us to order additional drink items.
Once my friend finally got to order her coffee it took a very long time for someone to bring the coffee to her. The staff member pouring the coffee ended up spilling it and it went on her as well as her seat and purse. The staff member did apologize and felt bad. However no one ever followed up with us to ensure my friend was okay. The coffee was very hot.
I enjoy the food but wish we had better service.
The unlimited "brunch" barely featured any breakfast food options. Dining at 10:30am, the options were limited to scrambled eggs, bacon, french toast and fruit. The focus was way more on fried rice, sushi, chicken, etc.
The food was great ! Very tasty and a huge selection with regular replenishment so everything was fresh to eat. The service was good too - there when we needed a server but not so attentive that they felt like an extra guest at the table.
8" piece of plastic cooked onto my steak. had to place three orders since they were out of first two things I ordered. took 120 minutes to get our food - was 11pm by the time we finally got our order. and with the plastic cooked into the steak, best the manager did was comp our meal. what the heck is happening there? washpost gave them ZERO stars - now I see why after being a regular for over 10 years.
Made reservation, seated 20 minutes late, special requests were not honored or even acknowledged. Food was so so-, especially for the price. Some dishes were cold. Deafening noise level.
I would like to share my experience at Farmers Fishers Bakers on Saturday evening.
I had made a reservation on Friday, and since Saturday at 8:30pm was all I could get for the evening, I checked in person around 6:30pm Saturday to see if there might be an earlier seating time available. Hostess Tristen said she could text me if an earlier time arose, probably 8pm at best. She was able to seat us earlier, which was terrific. It was busy, yet not overly noisy - most easy to have a conversation. We sat inside in a booth by a window looking out to the water fountain and the waterfront. Very picturesque.
My lovely date and I shared a calamari appetizer. The Virginia Cracker Calamari tasted fresh, and was deep fried with a hint of pepper - just right.
My date ordered NY Strip Steak with Enchildas (with street corn & avocado salad). She offered me a taste of steak - grilled just as ordered. The NY strip steak had a wonderful, lightly charred flavor). I ordered Scallops Meuniere with Butternut Squash Risotto (perfectly sauteed - the scallops were plump and flavorful, while the risotto had a smooth consistency with very good squash flavor).
My date did not want her own dessert, but said she may try a taste of the vanilla bean cheesecake I ordered. I had the fruit add on with blueberry, strawberry, and raspberry.
The cheesecake was outstanding! This is coming from a former NYer who has eaten cheesecake from some amazing Bronx bakeries throughout the years. My date and I were hysterically laughing at a few stories, and before I knew it, she had a few forkfuls because she said it was incredible. What a way to top off a perfect meal and company.
Our wait staff, hostess Tristen, the support servers/bus people, were all operating super promptly/smoothly, were genuinely friendly, and worked together seamlessly, even under a super busy time frame. A++
I went on a Saturday night. Service was slow and food was not all that great. The noise level in there is so loud you have to lean into your dining companion to hear what they are saying. We couldn't hear a thing the server said when she was tell us what the specials were.
Food was awesome. Sustainable never tasted so good. I would recommend this place. The noise level was really high when we arrived. We spoke to the manager and she turned the music down and the noise level improved dramatically. An awesome place.
