    I ordered the fresh fish special, swordfish. Server did not include the price in her description. $56 was exorbitant. My husband was happy with his salad & our friends with their usual appetizer selections. We have been regular patrons of this restaurant but this overcharge for the fish special was excessive.

    My husband and I frequent Roy's and we ae San Diego locals. We have been to Roy's in Hawaii on may occasions, as well. I felt compelled to write about our most recent experience because it was so disappointing. We had a reservation when they first opened on Sunday for lunch to celebrate my husbands birthday. This part of the experience was lovely as they acknowledged his birthday and gave him a birthday card signed by the staff. We did not receive the standard Aloha or Mahalo throughout our day (as we have always in the past both in San Diego and Hawaii as its part of the experience), but this was not the downfall. The service from our waitress was very good and she did the best she could with what was coming out of the kitchen last Sunday. The lobster potstickers as our appetizer were so overcooked (almost burnt) left them dry and unappetizing. We ordered the sea bass which was average (not the level of Roy's or fine dining) and we also ordered there signature monkfish or black cod and it arrived so fishy (not the sea) it smelt bad and I took a bite and it was not fresh. Our waitress was polite and accommodating and apologetic and returned it to the kitchen. She stopped and spoke to her manager (who never had the hospitality or professionalism to stop by our table) and he informed the waitress this type of fish is supposed to smell??? The waitress had the kitchen cook a different meal for me but did not take my husbands meal to refire accordingly, so we literally ate lunch separately on his birthday.(it took 20 minutes to make a new dish) I would not recommend Roy's at the Marriot as there are so many fine dining places in San Diego who honor fresh fish, hospitality and a great customer experience.

    The food was excellent and the ambience was fantastic.  I think our order got lost because they had to come back and ask us what we had ordered, and then it was another 20 minutes before we got it Total waiting time was a little over an hour.

    Roy’s was fantastic! We loved Roy’s in Dallas and were so disappointed when it closed. So we were delighted to visit the San Diego location. The food was as great as we remember, the Hawaiian martini was still outsmarting, and the atmosphere/marina view was much better than what the Dallas location had to offer. Incredible atmosphere! Highly recommend!!

    The lobster bisque was broken. If you know that means that’s all you need to know. The Caesar salad was drowned. The two appetizers were very good. They’re very nice waiters very pretty girl. Did not know her product didn’t know it was like couldn’t tell us if it was spicy or not. The manager came over and was basically useless. If Gordon Ramsay was there, he would recommend closing the restaurant.
