Roy's was wonderful. My husband and I went for this birthday on Saturday and sadly the restaurant was empty due to this "virus." Anyway, the service was amazing and the food was great as always. I had the sea bass and I keep thinking about it because it was so good!!

Very over-priced. Spicy dishes not noted on menu. Dishes with cheese not noted on the menu. Very poor value for the high exorbitant prices. Very uncomfortable chairs. Springs visibly poking out on most chairs since chair padding was so thin. Roy’s....Get new chairs for the sake of your customers. It’s embarrassing that they would allow springs to be visible on so many chairs. My husband could hardly sit any longer after the meal and left during dessert because he was so uncomfortable.

The restaurant was half full, no doubt because of the flu scare, but still it took an hour from ordering to eating. I ordered the sea bass but I was disappointed at the less than 2” x 2” filet. But nonetheless it was delicious. The butterfly fish was also amazing. Out the door it was easily over $100 per person not including gratuity.

There was definitely a problem in the kitchen. We waited at least an hour before our meals were served and the all of the meat dishes w ere over-cooked beyond being edible. The restaurant would have been better served by just closing for the evening. They certainly made no friends with the garbage meals that were served to everyone

As you can see we have been there many time with my now 94 year old Mom. The waitress was nice but the service was way to slow. Almost an hour between drinks and main dish not apps. Mom loved her steak. The veggie option, mash potatoes way to salty. There was also a price difference between the menu and what came in the bill.
For these resigns we may consider other options for fine dining.

Service was exceedingly slow. More than one hour to be served food. Then, food was not hot, and one item, pork chop, was unacceptable - overcooked and tasteless. Replaced with another entree, but no attempt made to compensate for poor service or the one bad item. Even insisted on up-charging for the replaced meal. Most restaurants would have compensated, somehow. This one increased the bill!

With a $40 coupon, the price was tolerable. The sea bass special was terrific and a seafood combination was very good. Without the discount, however, prices would have beyond the pale ($50/entree). Service and ambience were very good to excellent. Potions were ok. Wine by glass was very good and fairly priced.

We are frequent customers, tho this last experience was very poor. Surprising to us our meal came out burnt not once , but twice. It was brunch and if it's that inconsistent we'll just come for dinner .

There were four of us. Two had ok meals the chicken I had was beyond dry and had a brunt taste. The other one that had a bad meal was a steak that was so so, but the potatoes were questionable you did not know what they were. All our salads were good.
Had to ask for bread which turned out to be lightly toasted bread we had to wait for.
The meal itself took around one hour to get to us that was strange because the place was around 1/3 full on a Saturday evening.
Will not be going back. Have eaten there before and all the meals were good.

Our family had an incredible dinner and dining experience at Roy’s. We had numerous appetizers, entrees, drinks and their spectacular Chocolate Soufflé for dessert, along with espresso and lattes. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. This is probably the 6th or 7th time we’ve visited Roy’s and it has always met and exceeded our expectations. I admit, the price could deter some, but for us, the excellent dining experience is well worth the price. We will definitely return again.

I have been a customer here since the Roy's inception. I've met Roy and have been to his celebratory dinners long ago. The food was exceptional then. Since the restaurant has gone corporate, the quality of the food has diminished. However, I still enjoy eating at Roy's. It doesn't compare to Roy's in Waikiki.
The servers are gracious but the kitchen is a little slow.

Have been here a few times before. Quality of food has taken a dive. They were nice and gave us vouchers for $25 off next visit on a $50 dish. Daughters steak was good...But appetizer were really overcooked. ..everything else was average. The Chilean sea bass tasted like it was old and super heavy and oily because of the butter and bacon they cooked it in. My wife had it without the bacon and it just tasted again off. I did mention it to the waiter and he apparently brought an unlocked piece of Chilean sea bass to the table to prove it was fresh!! Really ?? It’s disappointing when you spend nearly $300 for a family of 4 and get below average food.

Food and service was OK. Given the prices charged for the food, it should be better than OK.
Server was very busy and barely had time to come and check on us throughout the evening.
We ordered the souffle and got the chocolate molten cake. It was good, it took a very long time, even though we told them we want the souffle before our food arrived.

We had a wonderful dinner a few nights ago. We asked the waiter for advice on menu and drink choices. He was spot on with every suggestion. We split the Seafood Sampler, added a side of rice with crab, and polished it off with the Pineapple Upside Down Cake. The signature cocktail & wine recommendations were also perfect!

Have been to Roy's numerous times, and always loved it. However, this visit was a bit disappointing. The restaurant was very crowded and busy, so we did not get the attentive service which we have come to expect there. Had to wait a long time for drinks, and needed to flag down waiters and bus boys several times to follow up on our orders. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and the atmosphere was a bit chaotic; not typical of our previous dining experiences. It just did not seem "special" in the way we experienced previous dining occasions. On a positive note, the food was delicious, as always. I think the staff was trying hard, but they were just too busy that night.

We made a meal of three appetizers. Egg rolls,pork ribs and tempura shrimp all lacked flavor and the curry sauce on the shrimp destroy the crispiness of one usually associates with tempura.

Roy's has been just so-so the last couple of times I've gone to Woodland Hills location. Food is good, but it doesn't wow you. Service is a bit slow, but it was busy since it was a Saturday on a holiday weekend near Valentine's Day, so I can't hold them too accountable this last visit. I had the macadamia nut encrusted Mahi Mahi and it was moist, but it was not encrusted and had no crunch to it because of the moisture. The nuts were ground into something akin to a hummus texture and put on like a spread, so flavor-wise you don't really taste it at all. I've had this dish at other restaurants in Hawaii and they definitely were drier, but you knew there were macadamia nuts and they were encrusted with them. Their desserts are excellent, both the chocolate lava cake soufflé and the pineapple upside down cake. I didn't get a coffee as the last couple of times I had it, it was very watery. I am shocked they don't serve a great cup of Kona coffee being a Hawaiian influenced restaurant.

Made reservations here on Valentine's Day at 8pm and did not get seated until 930pm. When making a reservation it's generally expected to sit in a reasonable time for other things that have been planned throughout the day. By the time we got seated certain items weren't available for order anymore and no bread was provided. Very poor service for the price they charged on Valentine's Day. We might as well have gone to Maestro's, In n Out, or even Chili's at least they would have provided a level of service expected of them. I do no recommend eating here. My steak wasn't even cooked appropriately.

We made a reservation with Open Table and arrived 10 minutes early. We then waited over an hour to be seated. The food was just okay. Given the price, the food was not worth what we paid. Overall it was an expensive and disappointing experience.

Went for Valentine's Day 2020. Had a 7:45 reservation. Were told there would be a 45 minute wait, due to people not leaving. We were finally able to get a seat in the very crowded bar to wait. The place was packed with long faces. Bad vibes for V-Day. Waited one hour. To find people hosts just wandered around looking and calling names. At bar bill close-out time, they tried to charge us for appetizers, even though we were doing the set-price 4-course dinner. No explanation that everything would be separate despite one price on menu. Sat at a tiny table, no candle, in the corner. Server apologized and blamed backed-up kitchen. Had to ask for water. Appetizers and soup were great. No bread with soup. Main dishes were very tasteless and not cooked properly. Tiger shrimp had no sauce, season, or moisture, over a bed of tasteless noodles. No pan-Asian or Hawaiian flavors at all. I asked for lemon to season my shrimp. Husband got Surf and Turf, where the Lobster at least had a butter sauce and mashed potatoes. Butter was main seasoning. Fillet was ordered Medium Rare and it was simply purple, raw. Not edible. Final check included several specialty drinks and incorrect food items. At that point they also explained the separation of food items. All in all, people in love can get through a rough restaurant evening, but Roy's, at these prices, we expected more, and will not be on our future date agenda, nor would I feel comfortable recommending to friends. We're from HI and really find it disappointing that Roy's cannot provide an ounce of Polynesian flavor or Aloha spirit. Additionally, why can't you get a busy holiday service together? With multiple locations, I would think you have the tools and experience to manage a busy kitchen, somebody must be pre-tasting and approving these dishes. Also, set some time windows for folks. Get a texting system for the wait line, and provide some bread with soup. Aloha.

Seated 45 minutes past our reservation time. Took nearly 90 minutes to get our entrees and the food (all, everyone’s) was so over seasoned and salty that nobody ate their meal. Because it took forever to get our food, we weren’t interested in waiting for the food again. We will NEVER eat there again. Oh yes, dinner for the four of us was $400.00.
