Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath
Amazing food, I got a burger! Next time will definitely get a steak on the stone- they looked great. Good service however the waiter mixed our drinks up first time as there were 4 sets of couples at the back of restaurant. We will be returning thank you!
Ate here last Saturday night with my girlfriend. We were brought to a table in an upstairs area which was more of a ‘landing’ than what felt like an actual restaurant. We were seated at a table where an overhead spotlight shone in my eyes and a number of wires and sockets were permanently in my line of vision. Mentioned the light to one of the overworked waiters and to be fair he initially had the light dimmed but when that didn’t have the desired effect, we were set up with a new table elsewhere. This new table was only a slight improvement as due to spatial constraints we were set up right beside the till which meant that there was a significant amount of activity going on behind me for the duration of the meal. I did get a slight laugh, however, out of the constant ‘psssst psssst’ noise in my ear of staff shining plates with a spray gun at said till. We noticed that more people were seated and subsequently moved from the table we initially vacated so the restaurant must be fully aware that it is not of the required standard yet they persist with seating people there.
The service was quite slow overall and we had to wait quite a bit before our order was initially taken and in between courses. I’d like to emphasise I don’t believe this was the fault of the waiting staff (who were pleasant and helpful) but because the restaurant seemed to be very understaffed. As for the food, the starters were not bad but I cannot understand how they can justify the prices of the main courses. I ordered the sirloin of beef with three peppercorn relish. The actual piece of meat was decent quality but on the small side. It came out pretty much raw and a hot stone was provided so I could cook it to my liking. However, the stone was not hot enough to properly sear the meat so it didn’t feel like I was eating a quality steak. For approximately the same price you can eat a top-class steak in the much nicer setting of somewhere like Suesey Street or Angelina’s.
Won’t be returning.
Amazing meal and lovely waiter. Top marks!!!!The food was absolutely delicious. The steak was perfectly flavoured and complimented by a lovely wine. Definitely will be recommending to my friends and going back soon😊
Main course was excellent but dessert seemed like it was prepared well in advance and just taken out of the fridge. For the price of the valentines menu I thought it could of been better.
The smoked chicken was fantastic! It was a very pleasant lunch overall.
Super experience.... Food delish...... Got there before 6pm........so busy from 6.30!!!!!!!......tables a little tight together!!! But fabulous food..........would certainly like to try again!!! Friendly staff too !!!
We really enjoyed our night in the rustic stone , the staff were fantastic, especially Mick that looked after us, he really made the night , the food was just out of this world, I look forward to visiting again, thanks again
Great service. Staff were so nice. Food was excellent and efficient. Didn’t have to wait ages for food to come. Great quality food also.
The food was delicious and service excellent. I really couldn't fault it. However I did find our wine, a bottle of Albarino at €42 very over priced.
Great service and delicious, healthy food. Really good wine.
Great staff, interesting hot stone service concept with certain dishes.
The venue and food was really great. I made a special request to have seating somewhere nice, as this meal was for my anniversary. Unfortunately, I was seated close to where there was lots of noise and movement from the kitchen. This ruined the romantic atmosphere I was hoping for. I also felt as if the staff assumed that me and partner were not going to spend a lot of money and therefore didn't require as much attention and service as other people there. Overall, this made me feel under valued.
Service was a bit rushed and disorganised on a Saturday night, but the dishes were well executed overall. The salmon tempura was slightly overcooked but the prawn lollipops very original. The 'on the stone' mains, with their DIY concept, were very good, well supported by tasty sides. A good night out.
Way overrated. Service very poor. It’s very busy so they give you a 2 hour slot and make sure you don’t transgress it. Staff obviously overworked and have little time to explain or divulge. We were seated downstairs and the ambience is fair at most (maybe the service is better upstairs who knows). Now the food...if you ask for the steak on the Stone then you’re done for. You are given a raw piece of meat and asked to cook it on a hot stone...literally. With little instruction and presumably little experience like the rest of us it all becomes one big mess. With a bite that’s rare and another that’s burnt, it becomes a rollercoaster ride of a meal. You’re better off having the pasta which is good actually.. but if you want pasta then you’re better off going to an Italian restaurant.
Food was delicious! Had the penne pesto dish, while my family had the steaks on stone.
Only downfall was our service itself. Our waiter came across as ignorant and unhelpful and as someone who works in hospitality myself. Was just a let down to see it happening when everything else was so good!
Was a bit disappointed with the burgers my friend and myself got the same and we both thought the same thing about them the steaks were lovely but for the price and no veg with them
Horrendous! Raw board was good but terrible terrible quality meat for the main course. Quite possibly the worst steak I have had in Dublin. Downstairs seating is absolutely terrible. Waiter was great but overall a terrible experience. The ambience downstairs is like a cheap road side diner in the US.
Food was delicious but FAR TOO OVERPRICED for 2 mini hamburgers and 4 chips!!
Quite smokey and hot downstairs...
I have eaten at Rustic Stone many times, as always delicious food, great atmosphere and great staff.
Will be back for my birthday in April xx
Had an amazing meal with fabulous cocktails! Cannot wait to go back!
Innovative concept sporting amazing and very tasty food delivered with a smile, can't wait to come back!
I booked a quiet table as my friend and I are quite sensitive to noise. We got a table that at start was in a moderately loud place, which changed when a larger group was sat next to us in the middle of the meal (which resulted in the overall experience to go downhill for that moment).
Our waiter was friendly and attentive at the beginning. Starters arrived on time, same with mains. Vine glass was refilled swiftly.
Once that loud group was sat next to us, didn’t see our waiter any longer. We waited to order desert far too long. When finally someone came to ask if we want to order, I mentioned that we have been waiting long to order desert and that comment was totally ignored and issue not addressed by that lady. Each of us ordered something sweet and I also ordered a cocktail (which arrived when we were finishing consuming those delicious deserts).
Food is excellent. Starters were delish, mains were excellent, deserts were amazing. Unfortunately the service disappointed. In the end 4 or 5 different ppl attended our table and after the first waiter got too busy and abandoned us, we weren’t paid sufficient attention to as you would expect w
Great food and perfect service , highly recommended
Food was very poor & not to usual standard. I’m a regular guest and normally order fish, this time however I ordered lamb pasta & it was tasteless. Desserts were also served in plastic like containers which gave the impression they were mass produced rather than freshly made, this standard is something I would expect from a take away rather than a reputable restaurant. The restaurant was busy due to the aviation conference and service was average as a result. A pleasant evening with friends however the standards have slipped and I wouldn’t recommend or return based on Saturdays experience.
Great place, but we were very close to the front door. Everytime it opened we were frozen.
Not value for money. Out for a special celebration so was happy to speak extra as a treat, but food was just ok nothing special. And certainly not work the price tag. Pub food at ridiculous prices
Over-all I liked the food. I was there with a friend. We ordered two cocktails, two steaks and a bottle of wine. When we finished our steaks, half the bottle was still left. The waiter came to the table, and recommended we move to the bar downstairs to finish our drinks. I have been to so many restaurants in my life (France, Canada, Germany, I have lived in them all), and this was the first time in my life they asked me to leave my table to finish my wine at the bar. Of course, I didn't accept (graciously and politely by simply asking for the dessert menu and ordering dessert). But just wanted to give this feedback so the restaurant knows it has to pick between two options: Making a little more profit in the short-term by pushing customers out but losing its reputation as a welcoming place where people can count on a good time, or investing in the long-term and retaining the clientele and creating a positive experience. I would recommend the second option. I still recommend the place. I have a feeling the waiter regretted what he said afterwards, so will give them a second-chance.
Staff were all friendly and helpful. Food was very nice and service was quite fast. Nice atmosphere.
Very good food - a little in the pricey side
Service was poor, waiter wasn't sure on the menu when questions were asked. The quality of the steak was not up to scratch with a massive wedge of fat running through my fillet steak with the knife barely cutting through it. Really disappointing given the reputation of the restaurant.
Another great experience while celebrating a birthday.
Service was particularly good
Friendly staff, nice ambiance, but a limited enough menu. All the bowls read very well but for €18 approx you expect a bit more content and a lot less leaves. The tuna on the stone got a rave review by my quest.
First time in stone @ Rustic after years of hearing about it. Wasn’t really impressed though. The food was very average and the restaurant had an overall grubbiness to it like it’s been untouched for years. The staff were fine but inexperienced and that’s ok for one or two but all of them seemed to be just starting out. Over priced for an underwhelming night. I wouldn’t return or recommend.
We enjoyed this visit so much. Best tuna ever and never knew fennel could taste so good! Orange flavored salad for starters was gorgeous and all the fun ended up in chocolate heaven. Our favorite Austrian grape was on the wine list, perfect! Service was friendly, atmosphere cosy enough. - Only regret is not testing any of the fabulous looking coctails, even moctails available. Will try them next time!
The ribeye was fantastic! Will come back again if we come back to Dublin.
Disappointing. Food was ok. Pricey enough. I got the wrong main course (but only realised when I got the bill!).
It was my first time at Rustic Stone on New Year's Eve. The food was really really lovely, but unfortunately it was really warm in the restaurant to the point where we didn't want to order any food 'on the stone'. The lamp above our table was shining directly in our eyes, which made it very uncomfortable. We covered it with our napkins. the staff were friendly, but we were waiting for a long time to place orders. I'll happily go back a next time, hoping the slightly disappointing experience is a one-off
Great food, fantastic service. Decent pricing. Enjoyed ourselves.
We’ve spend nice hours celebrating New Year’s Eve. Perfect Service and Food.
