Salt - Marina del Rey Hotel
Fried Chicken Sandwich
Lettuce, onion, dill pickle, 'crack' sauce
English Pea Ravioli
Maitake mushroom, cherry tomato, goat gouda, preserved lemon
Avocado, cucumber, blue cheese, bacon, lemon-dijon vinaigrette
Wonderful patio seating and very courteous staff. A tiny bit pricey, but not bad.
Our server (Brad) was fantastic and the salmon was terrific. If you're gonna keep the outdoor dining as an option (post-Covid), then upgrade the furniture and ambiance.
Nice setting for my wife’s birthday dinner. We ordered the tomahawk medium rare. It was served just short of well done. Absolutely disappointing for a $135 entree. Our server sent it back and reassured us that they would prepare another tomahawk at the right temperature. We agreed to wait another 25 minutes while the rest of our party went on and ate their food. Tomahawk number 2 makes its way to our table, but arrives in the same exact condition as the first one, almost well done!!! I didn’t know what to say at that point. Dinner was an absolute disaster for my wife and me. The saving grace for Salt is that my daughter did like her halibut and grandpa enjoyed his salmon entree. Despite the two failed attempts at the tomahawk, we appreciate the service from the wait staff and the manager who were apologetic and made attempts to make our experience less painful. Nonetheless, we’re probably not coming back anytime soon, at least not for the tomahawk...
We had the best experience at both Salt and the Marina del Rey Hotel. The staff was amazing. The food was great. We also love the organization around Covid restrictions. The hotel is doing a great job managing it all. The pool reservation is an awesome additions because it allows you to still enjoy the pool during these times. We will surely return.
Beautiful view overlooking the channel. Well spaced tables great service with smiles noise was not overwhelming. I will definitely go back
Really great ambiance and service.
Went here for breakfast. Service was horrible. Food was blah and overpriced.
Safe for COVID-19! Tables actually spaced out. Delicious food, fantastic cocktails. Accommodates gluten free/dairy free. Highly recommend the octopus and the bao buns.
This was the best dining experience that I've had during COVID. Everything was perfect and the marina view was outstanding.
My boyfriend and I went during brunch for his birthday and everything was perfect. The mimosas flight was great and I looooooved the omelette.
Great view. Food was pretty good but portions were comically small and very very overpriced. Cocktails were overpriced as well (some $18+). Service was average. I don’t mind spending a lot for a great dinner experience but not great value for what you get here.
I had reservations for 4 pm and was informed that i had the table only 3 hours. The waitress was a sweetheart and said enjoy yourself hopefully you will not need to leave. We ordered allot of food, wine and even bought a bottle of wine for the table next to us. When I went to the bathroom a man came over to my friend and was extremely rude no at all professional or nice and said you have been sitting here to long and you need to , leave. Did not offer to reseat us on the other side of the bar that outon the pool side. Wrong people to treat like that we are both business owners and was talking about having a work party there.
First time going and it was great! Our hostess and waitress we’re both phenomenal.
Amazing! We loved the view, the service, the food, everything! Can’t recommend enough. Perfect spot for our honeymoon.
Little pricey,but great experience nonetheless...
Server wasn't very friendly, to begin with, and then the food was EXTREMELY over priced and such small portions. Felt it was a complete rip-off. The seats aren't comfortable and overall, I regret going. We went to get food after we left, and we had a full dinner with spending over $100. Terrible and will tell people to stay away.
Great food, great ambiance, great company. The nitro peanut butter beer was unique and yum!
The view facing the marina was beautiful however, we were placed in the back with less ambiance- like decor. For the price we spent $900, I think we shouldve had a better ambiance. The outside seating (2 parts) was nice with the fire pit and decor (or it seemed) and the back was the leftover tables and stand-up heat lamps that we either broken or kept shutting off . The service was good and the food was delish.
One of the most beautiful restaurants in socal.
Excellent service. Setting was wonderful once the sun went down. Not enough shade beforehand. Food is good but extremely overpriced.
Great outdoor dining, especially now with Covid. You can almost forget there's something "out there"...just lovely atmosphere, overlooking the Marina-but servers are covered with mask/ face gear and gloves, You scam your menu so you're not handling something that someone else touched. Was just wonderful!
Terrible food options and too pricey for such options.
Lovely Marina-side dining for brunch. We had a very attentive server, who recommended delicious food. Everything felt very safe in the time of Covid. I highly recommend this alfresco brunch spot!
Excellent food, excellent service. Will definitely be back.
We stayed here at the hotel, and tried quite a few menu items over the course of a few days. The view is great. The food was good....almost TOO fancy, though. Not the best portion size, and too many edible flowers, garnishes, etc - they should be focusing more on the flavor and size of the plates. Not a whole lot of variety on the dinner menu and the Brunch menu is a little eclectic, but ingredients tasted fresh and everything tasted pretty good for the most part.
During this pandemic they are following the rules and regulations of dining in. Their outside patio is amazing overlooking the marina. Fresh air, social distancing, wait staff wearing mask and face shield. They were very attentive and nice to us
Pretty good food overall. My Wife’s glass had was cut and they didn’t notice. She could have cut her lip wide open! On top of that, we had a 1:45 reservation and last call for food was at 2:00. We barely ordered drinks before our waitress said we had to order food. I would never book for their lunch again because of this.
First time eating here. Expected the food to be better and better portions for the price range.
Salmon tasted weird and too fishy. Waiter mentioned some items were shareable but he forgot to mention if I was under 9yrs old. Waste of money. Plus too many flies/mosquitos. If they are going to charge large amounts for very small portions, at least make the food and atmosphere worth it. Just because you can stare at boats on a body of water isn’t worth it.
The restaurant located inside the Marina Del Rey Hotel. Open parking. No valet. Restaurant seating area outside next to the marina. Nice view with good ambiance. Peaceful. Service slow, but we didn't mind since we were enjoying the boats come and go.
Food is ok. Price is fair for the area. Enjoyed our mimosas and the the view.
Would recommend for the ambiance.
Very limited menu. Parking is terrible. Bathroom was dirty. Not recommended.
All things considered, this seemed like a very safe environment for a nice dinner out. I appreciated that the menu was on the phone, and that there was sufficient space between the tables. The atmosphere was lovely, and the food and service was excellent. I particularly liked the rye cocktail and two of the appetizers: the tuna tartare and the pork bao. Look forward to going again.
I had a very bad service. The server was very rude and obvious that he did not want to be there. I wasn't sure what cocktail I wanted so I asked him what his recommendation is telling him what kind of alcohol I like. He seemed very annoyed by the fact that I didn't know what drink I wanted and he kept of sighing. I know there are servers who are out going and can be friendly and sarcastic with the customer. I welcome that. But this experience was not like that. He is genuinely annoyed by me and felt unwelcomed. He also forgot one of the food I ordered on top of that and when I mentioned that the food hasn't come out yet, he tried to convince me that i didn't order. Sometimes servers can forget the order, i totally understand. And sometimes customers can be wrong i get that too. But my partner and I really did order the food and I really see no point in the server trying to convince and argue with me that I didn't order it.
In the end when I asked for the check, he already had that in his pocket but he took forever to take the check. Instead, he was bussing other tables rushing over to take the check to see how much tip he got for different tables. There are busser for a reason. And you are a server. It took him good 15 to 20minutes to take the check. And then, it took him about 10 to 15minutes to bring the check back. As we were leaving he rushed over to take the check, open the check, to see the tip amount. I am.pretty sure he wasn't pleasant about it. It was a very unwelcoming and unpleasant experience. The food was great though.
Great location and the view was spectacular!
We arrived for Brunch at 11 am on Saturday and it was pretty quiet (though it was full by the time we left).
Sitting outside overlooking the marina was all the ambience we needed. The staff was all friendly and helpful. We enjoyed trying different juices with the mimosas. The food was all very solid... I ordered the short rib Reuben- which was super tender and well balanced flavors. My wife had the chicken sandwich which had some nice spice from the chipotle sauce. The blue crab dip was good but the server brought it with our meal instead of as the appetizer, thus it's more subtle flavors were lost among the sauerkraut on my Reuben. All in all it was a wonderful meal and a relaxing morning.
Parking: Parked anywhere that wasn't reserved and near the restaurant (shared hotel)
Entered the hotel and on the right side of front desks, it has a sign for SALT. Waited few min and told the front desk we are here for the restaurant. We were seated and covered with umbrella (it was hot already).
Covid19 awareness: the place was clean and well sanitized. Servers worn masks all throughout. I felt safe.
Food: Wanted to try the dinner menus, but they only accommodate brunch menus at the time when we visited. Dinner menus definitely has more varieties and looked much delicious. Felt like Brunch was nothing special or out of the norm.
We've ordered Rice Bowl, Caramelized Onion dip, Chicken Sandwich Burger.
Caramelized Onion dip - couple of salted chips with onion dip (felt like you can get these at target or at the costco). ($12-15?)
Rice Bowl - Sunny side up eggs, pork belly, rice, variety of other small ingredients. Nothing special. ($13)
Burger - Chicken was good and well made, lettuce, pickles were regular. and sauce on the side (if you want). ($16?)
2 x Bacon - Bacon came in about 4 pieces. regular bacon, too expensive - $6 (per plate)
Mimosa- regular mimosa, expensive side. $16 (ea)
I think night time experience would of been better for the ambiance to see the ocean from where you are sitting. Felt like you paid for the location more than the food.
Price - 2/ 5 (more on the pricey side vs food quality)
Ambiance 4/5 - Quiet in the morning (might have to come at nighttime)
COVID19 4.5/5 - Staff and everyone was being careful and felt safe
Parking 4/5 - lots of parking area, but can get packed due to shared with hotel
Staff 4/5 - staff were friendly and approachable
Total avg point: 74/100
Everything was great but portions a little small. Highly recommend
Delicious food and amazing staff/service! I will be coming back.
Took my sister to Salt for her bday dinner. I haven’t been there since covid but they did a great job transitioning everything outdoors. We went at 5pm on a Thursday, with a reservation. Pretty busy. Nice view of the water and the food is always good.
