Amazing as always
This is the favorite St. Louis steak house for my friend and her daughter.
Great place for a special dinner. They provided a nice dessert to share since it was our anniversary. It is a bit pricy, but we knew that from going there before. Overall, it was a great experience!
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary dinner at Sam's and it couldn't have been more perfect. The food, atmosphere and service was outstanding. Our waiter, Greg, was attentive without being overbearing. So many restaurants now of days are so noisy, it's hard to carry on a conversation but Sam's is just lovely. Our food was cooked to perfection. Thanks for making our special anniversary celebration such a wonderful experience. Here's to Sam's for helping us build more wonderful memories.
Sam's is a hidden gem! One of the only steaks I actually enjoy at a restaurant, usually I'm fond of making them myself. I love their house salad dressing. The service is fantastically attentive!
We went @ 7pm on a Saturday and the restaurant is full, which we're not used to seeing. This time it took at least 5 minutes before we even had our water glasses filled. Normally the bussers are very attentive but not that night. We requested our server so this is nothing against her but we noticed she had to take a table in the back room taking away her attention from her section. We had so much more patience than the table next to us. The food is good and normally the service is. We will be back but hope this was a one time experience.
Excellent prime rib this time. Good size cut, well trimmed and served medium rare as requested. We had been disappointed with the prime rib on a couple of previous occasions.
Jason was an excellent server.
Steak was perfectly prepared, service was exceptional (Jason was our terrific waiter), piano player had everyone engaged. A most enjoyable evening.
Perhaps its a case of coming in with expectations, but our meal was not the special event that we had hoped for. There was nothing "wrong" with our food, the service, etc. But overall, the value was not great. The food was not amazing, just good. The service was above average, not the kind of thing you remember the place for. It feels like the other diners are right on top of you as the table placement is close. The up charges for every little thing is also annoying when you reflect on the overall meal.
Always delicious- will keep coming back!
A great place to get Prime Rib or steak. Totally recommend Sams Steakhouse
Great food ! Service was at a very nice pace. Excellent wine list. Sat in the bar and enjoyed the piano player throughout our meal. He played at a comfortable volume so we could have conversations and not be overwhelmed and yes we sat very close to the piano. Always a great experience at Sam's Steakhouse.
This was my friends and I, first time at Sams Steakhouse. We were invited by one of the Chefs that I happen to know, who by the way is an awesome person and cook. Everyone was so friendly and professional. We didn't have to wait to be seated. We didn't wait long for someone to come over to our table and take food orders and not once did we have to ask for refills on our drinks, he was bringing them right before the glass was empty. The bread and butter was so good. The salads had the best dressing, didn't taste store bought. The appetizers was scrumptious! The food came out extremely fast and of the BEST quality I've ever had! Two of us ordered Porterhouse Steaks that melted in your mouth. And whatever special sauce or glaze they use just made it taste even better. The music was relaxing that added to an already relaxed atmosphere. Food was enough for 2 days. Great quality and quantity, well worth the price. I can keep going on and on about this experience. The only minor thing that was an issue, it was a little too dark for people like me with vision problems. But I can use my cell phones flashlight again LOL! My friends and I will DEFINITELY be going back, absolutely loved this place as a whole!! Thank you!
I'll first say that the service provided by our waiter was unmatched. He was attentive and made sure our drinks were always in good supply and or food was served promptly. The food for most of the group was good instead of the pork chops which were completely raw in the center. While the other steaks were cooked fine, having raw pork served turned me off for the entire night. Again, nothing wrong with the service, but having raw pork seems unacceptable for a well established place. The servers offered to finish cooking the pork, or provide a new one, but after eating half already and reaching the raw part of the entree, my appetite was gone.
Ok experience. Prime rib was good. Rib eye was tough and lacked seasoning. Waiter offered a list of sides, but did not make it clear that many sides included a up charge. I prefer waiters that are open and honest, without me having to read the fine print on the menu
Gosh I really hate to do this but here goes....the restaurant is extremely outdated. Very dark, but not in a good way. The carpets and booth cushions are probably original to the building. The booth fabric was torn ugly and the carpets were absolutely filthy. The restaurant had a subtle foul odor....almost like someone barfed on the carpets. I kept thinking Robert Irvine, from Restaurant Impossible was needed badly there for a makeover. Good Lord rip those nasty carpets out and polish the hard wood that is probably underneath. Recover the booths. I just felt icky sitting there. The steaks, for being a steakhouse, were very blah. Not horrible, but not good or excellent. Did not have a sear and color of the steaks was odd...as if it was boiled, then cooked quickly. I want this restaurant to keep going but it needs serious help.
Sons 21st Birthday
The food was very good. The dish under the salad plate didn't look very clean. The waiter was rushing around as though there were not enough waiters to serve the customers. The prices are too high. We go to Sam's about twice a years due to the high prices. The employees there keep calling us "guys". That's okay for a regular restaurant, but not for one that is high class.
Greeting at our table took a little longer than we would like. More than 5 minutes without anyone coming over. But we were in a back room and our server was amazing. Foods was excellent and drinks were on point. Twice baked potato lives up to it's name.
Disappointing. Arrived 45 minutes early for our reservation to have a drink in the bar. Ready to sit at our reservation time, but table was not ready for 30 additional minutes. After seating, waited at least 10 minutes for server to arrive. Overall, food was good, but there are much better steakhouses in the area that I would go to first.
The food is always delicious and we like the casual elegance of the bar seating. Greg is a phenomenal waiter who always remembers everything!
Love the food, service and piano in the bar area
As always, the food was on point at Sam's. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the Brandy Alexander for desert was phenomenal. Our server, Piero, did an excellent job rectifying an issue with the appetizer. We'll definitely be back.
Sam's is the BEST! Has the best of both worlds -- if you want quieter sit in the spacious main dining rooms or for more entertainment sit in the bar. Still able to have a conversation and enjoy the piano bar!!! Food as always was Delicious!
I have been to Sam's Steakhouse three times and always great atmosphere, service and food is amazing. The prices are high, but you never have to worry about the service or food.
Excellent visit, as always!
Waiter was great. Food was good but wife was not happy with her side. Asparagus ends were not cut off and were not quite done.
I've never written a review on a restaurant - good or bad - but, I were so disappointed in Sams Steakhouse I felt I needed to. First - for such a nice restaurant and the prices they want the silverware was so cheap I was shocked. You could find nicer silverware at IHOP. As far as the food, I ordered the linguine w/lobster. The lobster was so tough and chewy it was awful. My salad had so much blue cheese dressing in it you couldn't even see the color of the lettuce. My husband ordered a steak. He said it was pretty good but his potato was not cooked thoroughly through. The best part of the whole meal was the bread. It was delicious. Needless to say, we were very disappointed and won't be going back.
Fantastic prime rib. Large, Large baked potato.
Loved the food. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.
As always, Sams is a most enjoyable restaurant in which to dine. The food, ambiance, and service is always wonderful. Greg, our server, is like family and treats us as such. Would highly recommend to anyone in the South County area who is tired of "fast food" restaurants and looking for a fine dining establishment without the overly stuffiness that usually comes with such a place.
I have been recommending Sam's for years. Whenever I want a good steak, Sam's is where I go.
Great, as usual... steaks, a particularly good selection of wines by the glass, excellent service.
Had a great time on a Thursday night. It was not busy, and we had a group of six that could socialize. Food was delicious and Jay our waiter was awesome.
We were visiting St. Louis from Nashville to attend a concert at the River City Casino on a Tuesday night and wanted to have dinner before the show. Our 1st thought was to eat at one of the restaurants as the casino but their two best venues were closed and Monday and Tuesday. I found Sam's on Trip Advisor and booked a reservation for 6 based on the menu, the reviews and it's proximity to the casino. The restaurant is very old school with décor that must date back to the 70's. It is also old school in that the food and service were very good. We found a very nice bottle Malbec for $35 and liked it so much we ordered a 2nd. In the end we were very pleasantly surprised, I would eat there again without any hesitation if I returned to St. Louis.
Horrible experience. Had reservation at 5:45 pm did not get entree till 7:15. Steak was not what I ordered. Waiter never came to check on us. Husbands steak was over cooked. Asked to speak with a manager and he never came to the table. Had to walk to the front of the restaurant to pay our bill. No one apologized or tried to make it right.
The food and setting were what we had hoped for - old school steakhouse but not overly stuffy. Food was great and our waiter was very pleasant. There were a couple of minor service issues. We asked for no onion on our salad and it came with onion. We asked for our bernaise sauce on the aide and it came on the steak. We asked for some additional dressing and it took quite a while to get it. The busboy was not well schooled on proper clearing of dishes. I know these are all minor but not what you would expect for the place and the price. Would definitely return again since the food was so good and good atmosphere.
The service was excellent. The food was fantastic, our steak was cooked as ordered. Would recommend for special occasions.
Excellent food and service. I would prefer a quieter atmosphere as I have trouble hearing and use hearing aids. Background noise makes it difficult for me to hear. Otherwise a very nice experience.
