The food was very good. The dish under the salad plate didn't look very clean. The waiter was rushing around as though there were not enough waiters to serve the customers. The prices are too high. We go to Sam's about twice a years due to the high prices. The employees there keep calling us "guys". That's okay for a regular restaurant, but not for one that is high class.
Greeting at our table took a little longer than we would like. More than 5 minutes without anyone coming over. But we were in a back room and our server was amazing. Foods was excellent and drinks were on point. Twice baked potato lives up to it's name.
Disappointing. Arrived 45 minutes early for our reservation to have a drink in the bar. Ready to sit at our reservation time, but table was not ready for 30 additional minutes. After seating, waited at least 10 minutes for server to arrive. Overall, food was good, but there are much better steakhouses in the area that I would go to first.
The food is always delicious and we like the casual elegance of the bar seating. Greg is a phenomenal waiter who always remembers everything!
Love the food, service and piano in the bar area
As always, the food was on point at Sam's. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the Brandy Alexander for desert was phenomenal. Our server, Piero, did an excellent job rectifying an issue with the appetizer. We'll definitely be back.
Sam's is the BEST! Has the best of both worlds -- if you want quieter sit in the spacious main dining rooms or for more entertainment sit in the bar. Still able to have a conversation and enjoy the piano bar!!! Food as always was Delicious!
I have been to Sam's Steakhouse three times and always great atmosphere, service and food is amazing. The prices are high, but you never have to worry about the service or food.
Excellent visit, as always!
I've never written a review on a restaurant - good or bad - but, I were so disappointed in Sams Steakhouse I felt I needed to. First - for such a nice restaurant and the prices they want the silverware was so cheap I was shocked. You could find nicer silverware at IHOP. As far as the food, I ordered the linguine w/lobster. The lobster was so tough and chewy it was awful. My salad had so much blue cheese dressing in it you couldn't even see the color of the lettuce. My husband ordered a steak. He said it was pretty good but his potato was not cooked thoroughly through. The best part of the whole meal was the bread. It was delicious. Needless to say, we were very disappointed and won't be going back.
Fantastic prime rib. Large, Large baked potato.
Loved the food. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.
As always, Sams is a most enjoyable restaurant in which to dine. The food, ambiance, and service is always wonderful. Greg, our server, is like family and treats us as such. Would highly recommend to anyone in the South County area who is tired of "fast food" restaurants and looking for a fine dining establishment without the overly stuffiness that usually comes with such a place.
I have been recommending Sam's for years. Whenever I want a good steak, Sam's is where I go.
Great, as usual... steaks, a particularly good selection of wines by the glass, excellent service.
Had a great time on a Thursday night. It was not busy, and we had a group of six that could socialize. Food was delicious and Jay our waiter was awesome.
We were visiting St. Louis from Nashville to attend a concert at the River City Casino on a Tuesday night and wanted to have dinner before the show. Our 1st thought was to eat at one of the restaurants as the casino but their two best venues were closed and Monday and Tuesday. I found Sam's on Trip Advisor and booked a reservation for 6 based on the menu, the reviews and it's proximity to the casino. The restaurant is very old school with décor that must date back to the 70's. It is also old school in that the food and service were very good. We found a very nice bottle Malbec for $35 and liked it so much we ordered a 2nd. In the end we were very pleasantly surprised, I would eat there again without any hesitation if I returned to St. Louis.
Horrible experience. Had reservation at 5:45 pm did not get entree till 7:15. Steak was not what I ordered. Waiter never came to check on us. Husbands steak was over cooked. Asked to speak with a manager and he never came to the table. Had to walk to the front of the restaurant to pay our bill. No one apologized or tried to make it right.
The food and setting were what we had hoped for - old school steakhouse but not overly stuffy. Food was great and our waiter was very pleasant. There were a couple of minor service issues. We asked for no onion on our salad and it came with onion. We asked for our bernaise sauce on the aide and it came on the steak. We asked for some additional dressing and it took quite a while to get it. The busboy was not well schooled on proper clearing of dishes. I know these are all minor but not what you would expect for the place and the price. Would definitely return again since the food was so good and good atmosphere.
The service was excellent. The food was fantastic, our steak was cooked as ordered. Would recommend for special occasions.
Excellent food and service. I would prefer a quieter atmosphere as I have trouble hearing and use hearing aids. Background noise makes it difficult for me to hear. Otherwise a very nice experience.
It was fine, just not as good as I expected. I had a filet and my friend got the ribeye. We both agreed that our meal was not as good as other steak houses. Steaks not all that tasty.
Great as always...we had a large group so we were a bit too loud and I felt bad for the guests sitting around us. Food and service were perfect!
The ambiance was lovely, the food fabulous, the staff was conscripted and considerate. It was a wonderful dining experience
Celebrated a birthday and anniversary. Service and ambiance for standard dinning was very good. The bar scene was the place to be, great atmosphere
I had a very pleasant experience. I made a reservation for my Boyfriends Birthday online and put in a special note letting them know it was for his birthday so I didn’t have to be awkward and tell them in front of him.
We have dined many times at Sam's. This time we were disappointed in our service. It wasn't up to the standards it has been in the past. The server forgot to bring butter for our bread. He forgot our daughter in law's cocktail. He was serving to many tables to give us personalized service which we expect from Sam's. The food was delicious as usual though. We still plan on continuing to go there. Maybe a fluke of a night.
Excellent service and steak. Mayfair dressing good. Sides unremarkable.
For Birthday and an anniversary and we had an amazing experience.
Excellent food and service! We will definitely be coming here again!!
I was there on a gift card. I would not go back if I was paying for it myself. I would recommend Sam's to people who have the money to pay the prices. I prefer Tucker's for the food and the cost. I will say however at Christmas it is worth the prices to see the decorations
My wife and I ordered the prime rib. It wasn’t as tender as usual and had much more fat than normal. It still had good taste. Other items, salad, potato, etc was very good. Could not ask for better service. Overall it was a nice Anniversary night out. Sam’s has been our favorite steak house for years.
Excellent food and service as always.
The food here is good. The people at the front of the house seem to be clueless.
We wanted a special place to celebrate a birthday. We were given the choice to sit in the bar area where there was live music, or in the restaurant. We chose the bar. Great service, lovely music and a wonderful meal.
Always a wonderful experience! The steak is always perfect and the overall meal is delicious.
The food was good large amount. The restuarant did have a smell that wasn't pleasant like spoiled water or dirty carpet.
Great place for a client dinner.
My steak was embarrassingly thin, I ordered the Cowboy steak and it was so thin that I could not see the doneness of the meat Appetizers were overcooked and salad greens were not fresh and crispy. It was a very disappointing experience. On my reservation I had asked not to be seated in thebar area and of course that is where we were taken. It was corrected but....
This was my first time eating there and I was impressed. Our server Greg was awesomely amazing!!! The food.. atmosphere...and service were top notch. Whenever I return to St Louis I will certainly come back.
