SAN LORENZO - wimbledon
Wimbledon's most successful restaurant has served both a local and an international clientéle for over 40 years, with a unique blend of Tuscan-rooted recipes. Virtually everything, from bread to cantucci, pasta and ice-cream is hand-made on the premises, ensuring a culinary style of the highest quality, true to it's maternal traditions.
Deceptively large, with modern, classic interiors furnished with many important artworks, and with a beautiful summer courtyard for perfectly secluded al-fresco dining, right in the heart of SW19.
Possibly the most enduring restaurant south of the river, San Lorenzo Fuoriporta's longevity reflects its quality pedigree by adhering to the basic principles of quality and simplicity.
Excellent experience, as always!
It was my wife's birthday and I asked for a bottle of champagne to be on the table for when we arrived
I knew something was wrong when they gave me a choice of tables ??? - No champagne.? My sone drinks Lager , it was served in a small wine glass as they had ran out of beer glasses but we got charged the same price. I ordered a bottle of Brunello , decanting was not offered and it was served ina atable glass , i had to ask for a glass appropriate to the wine - the did not have one.
We enjoyed the food , it was fine but the staff that served us had no training , did not no the menu
Fabulous meal. So lucky to have this on our doorstep. The quality of the food was exceptional. Ghigo and his staff went out of their way to make our birthday lunch special.
The food was fantastic, especially the pasta starter and I would highly recommend this restaurant for NYE. A good atmosphere and dancing from midnight. Lets hope 2020 goes just as smoothly!
The food was not great but the service was good. Staff are very young. But very pleasant and keen to please.
The wine recommendation was good but the food was not good.
A small and friendly restaurant. Very good service and great food.
Food was nice but sat by front door which was draughty so ruined the experience
Food was be nice but service very slow, I don’t expect that kind of experience at these kinds of prices. Took a while to be given a menu, then the main courses (both pasta) took ages to arrive despite it being very quiet - this was not such an issue but then also had to ask 3 times to get the bill and then eventually get someone to come and take payment so it became annoying and spoiled the experience.
Perhaps because we sat in the back room - clearly a mistake!
Great value for money set menu lovely quality and service
We booked because we could not get into the Wimbledon Tennis restaurants. The staff were very welcoming and the food superb (good old fashioned Italian).
We will always book here when going to Wimbledon Tennis in the future.
This is one of the classic restaurants in Wimbledon. Definitely worth a go. If at all possible go a bit early in order to get a table on the covered patio. Food, service and ambiance are all great.
Finest Italian in SW19.
The back patio is a delight.
Shrimp dishes delectable
Go and go and go
Fabulous table in the back on the patio
Great food and wine
You feel like San Lorenzo is your home away from home
Ghigo, Paolo and Diego receive their patrons with very warm greetings.
San Lorenzo is absolutely the best restaurant in Wimbledon
Their patio out back is delightful
Went on Father’s Day. Was a bit disappointed. Italian food shouldn’t be that expensive and the service really wasn’t great. Had to ask for everything several times. Wouldn’t go back.
After seeing reviews wasn't sure we would enjoy our evening but that to one side , we really enjoyed the evening, the service was prompt and the food was great , haven't eaten there for a long time would go back with friends very soon!!!
Few issues with underdone food for us and another table nearby but quickly rectified by the staff. Service was fine and professional but staff tripped over each other a lot
This was the third time we had been to San Lorenzo. To be honest wasn’t impressed previously with the service. It’s been two years so we tried again and a revelation. Fabulous food and service. If you haven’t been, try it!
Relaxing. Limited menu but reasonable choice and very well presented and cooked. Excellent attentive service.
The service was very good and the food was well-cooked as always. Care was taken with the need to avoid gluten.
Very disappointed with the quality of food.
The soup was poorly made and the calves liver had to go back as undercooked !
Service was dreadful .
Came for a business lunch and the setting was nice and quiet with attentive service and a very good value for money lunch menu.
We try this restaurant every now and then on the off chance it may have improved. It hasn’t the food was average at best and over cooked The waiting staff were friendly but clearly not sure of how to be waiters. I won’t bother going here again
Poor service. Very little atmosphere. Good food, but over priced.
Service was fantastic! Really polite waiters, but the food was terrible. The pizza.. was below standard. Would not come back here again.
On main course was forgotten and long wait for those we did get
It was "busy" .Well shouldn't book for more than the kitchen can manage. Food good when it came
Very nice food, would recommend for a nice get together!
Good was excellent, great atmosphere, we will definitely return.
I live in wimbledon so wanted to try San Lorenzo for a while. We were sat out the back as it was a nice day (they have an outside area) and didn’t have any choice on this but I think I would have preferred to sit inside as the furniture was a little cheap - green plastic garden chairs and wobbly table. The waiting staff didn’t really know anything about the menu when we asked questions or about the wine. The food was your tasty traditional Italian, nothing special, but very over-priced for the quality. We personally would not go back.
Excellent food and friendly service. All very good.
Great atmosphere, proper Italian food , great garden
Post Wimbledon dinner. Sat outside, lively atmosphere and set up. Would go again.
This was our first time at this restaurant and we had a lovely table by the window. We were not so keen initially being seated near the kitchen but as soon as another table became free we were moved without any fuss. The service was absolutely delightful. All the food was exceptionally delicious, and we will definitely return.
Food was average. Service was ok. Too expensive for what it was.
Lovely evening with friends - special menu very good value 😀
San Lorenzo is the best Italian restaurant in London! The food is wonderful and the service is spectacular. Highly recommended!
The staff were very attentive, helpful and genuinely friendly. The atmosphere was welcoming, smart and comfortable. The food was very good, but not quite outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
We went for my dad’s birthday and it was lovely! The food was decently priced (or maybe a little expensive) but otherwise service was great. They also treated us to a surprise tiramisu cake at the end!
