Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar - KIHEI, Maui
My wife likes sushi . So for our last dinner on Maui we chose here. Server named Jess was great. Helped get me thru my meal as I don’t eat sushi. Food was good however their restaurant on the north end of the island is better according to my wife for sushi. We dined there on our last trip. All in all a solid choice if you are staying in the Wailea area.
We wanted sushi really badly while in Maui. We had been recommended to go to miso phat and sansei’s. Sansei’s provided a higher quality sushi with more selection to choose from and we really did enjoy the appetizers and full courses we had ordered. Sashimi was very fresh, dynamite shrimp was a great way to start and their Hawaii Kona Roll was very refreshing. Great place to eat!
Wahr ok! Sehr laut! Sehr gutes essen. Teuer!
The waitress was wonderful, food delicious, only drawback was that 2 of our party of 6 ordered noodle dishes, and 4 of us were nearly finished our entrees when their noodle entrees appeared. The waitress was apologetic, it was not her fault, and can only reason that the kitchen was busy, and maybe had to start from scratch with the noodles. My entree was tempura shrimp and vegetables. The amount served was A LOT! Took home quite bit of it, and reheated it in an oven the next day - still crispy and delicious! Will definitely go again!!
Food was excellent and super fresh. We had an early dinner and though the hot foods arrived quickly we had a longer than expected wait for the sushi items we ordered.
Checked in at 6:45 for a 7 pm reservation, was advised they were running on time and they would let us know when our table was ready, was seated at 7:17, service was very slow and the hot kitchen food arrive 20 minutes after sushi which made for a poor dining experience, food was good but $200 for 3 is pricey
It was a nice and relaxed atmosphere. Our waitress recommended her favorites on the special menu and it was delicious.
Great food but bring a sweater since they keep the restaurant temperature cold enough for the sushi but too cold for there customers
My two boys said the sushi was the best they’ve ever tasted in their life and though I don’t eat sushi I thought the goal be ribs the tempura and I’m trying to think of what else I had but it was delicious. I would definitely go back again and suggested to anyone who is in the area vacationing.
THE SHRIMP CAKE WAS VERY TASTY AS ALWAYS HOWEVER THE SHRIMP WERE NON EXISTENT ,
THE SEAFOOD ON CHOW FUN NOODLES THE SHRIMP AND SCALLOPS WERE TOP OF THE LINE THE NOODLES WERE SOFT AND PASTY.
Great experience as always. Amazing sushi! Our server was great.
It was okay, not the best but definitely not the worst. Its too crowded and noisy.
Our waiter was the perfect waiter, great service and good value.
We sat at the Sushi bar. Service was great and so was the food. One of the better Mai Tai’s I’ve had. I would definitely recommend.
We love our Sansei experience! Sushi and sashimi are delicious. Next year they will be moving to a new location about a block north of them. We look forward to trying out this new location.
Good sushi. Pricey though. $11 for yellowtail sushi
First time back to Sansei in over 15 years. It’s still just as amazing. The staff had so much Aloha. We had some good allergy issues, and our waiter was very attentive to it and ensured us every step of the way of what was safe and what wasn’t. The quality of the seafood and the creative assortment of dishes to choose from went beyond our expectations. We can’t wait to come back again.
We love to come here every time we are on Maui! We had EXCELLENT service & the food is always SOOO GOOD. Highly recommend.
This is a “must” Sansei experience in Kihei Maui. We usually go multiple times during our stay. Very friendly staff.
Great dinner and delicious food!
Very good place, we recommend it. Inventive food !
Just great fresh sushi with an inventive twist.
Super fast and excellent sushi. Had to order it twice!!
Good variety of options
Our favorite place for sushi/sashimi on Maui. We were seated promptly, our waiter was well informed regarding selections which are extensive. Wine list has been put together by owner who is a master sommeliere- choices go well with the food.
The food was incredible, and the service was remarkable. I highly recommend visiting Sansei for everyday dining or for special occasions.
We’ve been here before and enjoyed it but we will never go back after last night. The food was okay but nothing great. The service was awful and refused to accommodate a very simple request. The bathrooms were disgusting. Sad to see this restaurant decline this quickly.
This is truly a local gem. Where to go for sushi and sashimi. Fun and inventive food with a great variety. Try it all! Our server was very helpful and the place, while crowded was not overly loud for a Saturday night.
Been coming to Sansei for many years
Was disappointed with the service and quality of food.
Has really gone downhill
We were seated right away. Waited quite some time for water and to place a drink order. Food was just ok this time. The hawaiian roll was off. Everything else was ok not the usual. Wait help was overwhelmed and I’m sure that caused the wait time. I noted it was a birthday and when dessert arrives there was nothing. Ugh. All in all we were there to celebrate a birthday and we did despite the below average everything.
The food and service is always amazing
Every thing is good
We went for dinner here on our trip to Maui and found the food to be ok. There wasn't anything I hated but nothing stood out, in terms of flavor. I was quite displeased that the edamame was served cold and th sushi portions were more than a mouthful. Large sushi shouldn't be a thing... if it isn't bite-sized, it falls apart while it's being eating. I would not return.
After reading all the high reviews, we decided to have dinner there. What a huge disappointment! The decor is old and not truly Japanese. It felt like a coffee shop with a bar area and a small sushi bar. The food was below average, nothing special at all. We saw all the awards on the wall but left unimpressed. We wasted our first evening on Maui! Read that it was a cross between Kabuki and Sushi Roku. That's just false!! We go to Kabuki in Huntington Beach and Irvine Spectrum a lot as well as Sushi Roku in Newport Beach Fashion Island. This place is NOT in the same caliber. We will not be returning. Sorry we believed all the hype.
Excellent food and service. Had a variety of rolls, all were excellent. Fresh food, total quality!
Food is good. Seems overpriced, but that could be the Californian in me talking with little Hawai'i context.
We enjoyed our dinner. The Fish was super fresh and everything was great.
It was a great evening and everything was all right.
