My son had a wonderful 30 bday dinner we had our own tent which was really perfect for our pregnant girl felt very comfortable
Best dinner in a tent I've had since summer camp as a kid
Thank goodness for Rachel. If you stop in the wine list is a bear. Rachel, will walk you through it.
We really enjoyed our meal here. The food and service were very good. We did the early bird which was a great deal.
Great service. Above average food, considering it was a Thanksgiving dinner. Friendly staff. Nice setup under the tent.
Wonderful, wonderful even outside dining during covid is wonderful.
Our first time dining at Sardine Factory since moving to the area. One of the nicest outdoor tent set-ups we have been to so far. We arrived in time to enjoy their early bird menu and were pleasantly surprised by the large portions. Drinks were delicious, abalone bisque amazing, and the calamari steak with lemon caper sauce was great as well.
They had ample heating, but we both don’t get cold easily so that may have factored in. Others were wearing jackets the whole time but we didn’t even need ours. Also, even though they don’t have as many tables due to restrictions we never felt rushed to leave as we have at a couple of other restaurants.
The highlight of the night was the service. Marissa was amazing! And when she found out we were celebrating a new job she made our evening even better with a delicious dessert! The dessert coffee and espresso were also delicious and capped off a fantastic night. We will definitely return.
The food here is amazing and the staff are really attentive and welcoming. The scallops were perfection as was my husbands tuna. Could not recommend more.
Hi Tiffany, Thank you for taking the time to write to us about your visit to The Sardine Factory. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to serving you again!
Food and service was fantastic. Our food came out in courses and was perfectly timed by our server. All the heaters and decorations were a nice touch for having to eat outside.
Everything here is great. Food and service was immaculate
We had a very nice dinner with excellent food and superb service!
However, due to COVID regulations we had dinner in a tent, decorated nicely, but we froze to death!!
It was a disappointment. It was not their fault that it was freezing. It was their fault that the food was terrible and cold. The fish and chips were awful. The fish batter was soggy and the fries were inedible, greasy, mushy and overcooked at the same time with a distinctive bad oil taste. My seafood trio was cold by ok, although I would never have it again. For the money, not a great experience or investment.
Dear CyndiK, Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. We are saddened to hear that the meal fell short of your expectations. Every day we strive to give our customers a memorable and delicious experience, we obviously missed our opportunity with you. I will pass your comments along to the Chef, Management and Owners. Please consider allowing us to serve you again in the future.
Great food, great service! Outdoor dining only due to COVID restrictions but they had a nice tent and heaters set up.
It was great to have a nice dinner out for a change. We had to sit outdoors but it was very comfortable and everyone was spread out accordingly. Dawn was very welcoming and attentive. Thank you!
Although the prices have remained the same, the service and food has definitely taken a hit since COVID. Also, being across the street from a vet clinic with housed animals, and only a single speaker near the front to combat the noise, all we heard was the constant barking. People are lovely as ever, but they clearly cut back on staffing for COVID (perhaps a bit too much). Food was good, but lacked the finesse it had pre-COVID.
Our visit is reflective of the Covid-19 experience while eating under ridiculous conditions that the government has placed upon the Sardine Factory.
Due to the stupidity of the government you can no longer eat inside because the Covid only lives inside. But the Covid is completely immune to being passed around in a tent in a parking lot. So be prepared to wear an extra layer of clothing because you're eating outside. They have placed heaters out to help keep things warm.
The food is prepared in the kitchen and delivered to your table. Eat quickly because the plates cool off and the food gets cold.
Service is as good as can be expected under the circumstances. The sommelier is a nice touch when you want a good wine pairing with your dinner. She was very helpful.
The staff is friendly and tries to make your experience as positive as possible. Everyone is extremely friendly and excited to serve you.
Hopefully the governor of California pulls his head out of his backside and allows restaurants to reopen to regular capacity and menus. He's killing the restaurant business and those who rely upon it. This is beyond ridiculous.
My experience was not very good this time at the Sardine Factory. I understand the Covid precautions that have to be followed and had no objections with that. Outside dining was comfortable and warm as they had heaters. However the quality of the food was less than desirable. I had the special halibut ($49.99) which was overcooked and the sauce was like mayonnaise with food colour. And too much sauce. I am not a sauce kind of person as I like to taste the food and not have it covered with sauce so all you taste is the sauce. The size of the halibut was disproportionate to the cost of the dish. Perhaps my choice of meal was my error. Maybe I should have stuck with the rack of lamb, but I had that type night before at another restaurant. My server, her name is Row, was absolutely wonderful. I would hire her to work at my restaurant if I had one. She was friendly, courteous, I could feel the smile on her face through the mask. Not sure if I would go back to the Sardine Factory. But who knows...

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Sardine Factory and everything was fabulous, even if we had to do outside dining only due to COViD-19. The outside tents were set up nicely and protected from the wind with heaters... the ambience was very nice and service was spectacular. The food was amazing and delicious as usual. Definitely a great place to come celebrate a special occasion if you are in Monterey! Thank you for a fabulous anniversary dinner!
Dear Bugaboo, Thank you for choosing The Sardine Factory to celebrate your special occasion and for your review. We are delighted you enjoyed your delicious food, memorable atmosphere and great service. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to serving you again!
