Had been looking forward to dining at the restaurant at this Reeds restaurant. Server was nice, missed one of the appetizers, but with the masks and the music we understood that. But the food was such a disappointment and an insult given the $200+ price tag. Needed to aggressively saw at the short ribs, shrimp cocktail was a little slimy and the salad was tragic - hardly any dressing with cubed cold chicken, burnt croutons, no Parmesan and radishes for some reason.
Place was very dirty in room that had water views. Crumbs all Over the floor and table they sat us at. We asked to be moved and the inside area was better. Numerous items not available. Scallop dinner was good. Burger was 19.00 and came with one choose of cheese. And frankly was small for that price. Will not return and definitely would not recommend.
Two for Easter dinner.
I was disappointed with the room, the view of the bay was lovely, however the room inside was much less. There was food on the floor, I’m thinking pieces of bread or French fries which ever staff person just walked over. A table with flowers used for centerpieces sitting up front? I do realize with COVID-19 tables were set apart and I thank them for that but this was the large room used for wedding reception and the like so it needed more warmth.
The menu was strange, corn bread served in an iron skillet, not even warm? Our server was very busy but did stop by to check on things, no water was refilled.
All and all it was ok not what I expected from THE REEDS.
The menu items had very high price points with several entrees priced over $40.00. There were no vegetarian or vegan entrees listed on the menu at all which is very disappointing in this day and age. I ordered the meatloaf for $29.00 and had to send it back because the mash potatoes were cold. This restaurant must’ve changed chefs. I found no compelling reason to return. PJ, our server, was both prompt and attentive. His service was the only high point of our dining experience.
Birthday, offer nice birthday dessert
Considering COVID guidelines, the overall experience was fine. Our server was super attentive -- she was great. We ordered an entree caesar salad that we sent back twice and was finally taken off the final bill. Wilted brown lettuce with croutons [that came from a box] sloppily overflowing in a bowl was simply not acceptable given the level of restaurant and hotel. The acoustics in the room were such that the singer who performed during dinner was too loud and screechy. At one point we found ourselves cringing at how bad he sounded which made for a mediocre experience. We will likely return to enjoy the outdoor deck.
We ate at SAX for my husband's birthday, and we're so glad we did! My scallops were delicious and his filet was cooked to perfection. The salads and desserts were also fabulous. The service was attentive and professional. We will definitely be back!
We had a lovely evening at Sax. Our server really knew his wines and helped us make a great choice. The meals were delicious and we were able to have a wonderful reunion with friends in a socially distanced dining room with great food, wine and cocktails.
Waitress was Okay. Seemed a little overwhelmed. When our food came out of the kitchen by another person it was taken to several tables. Some people shook their heads meaning "not ours". The food was set on the table of a couple across the room. It took several minutes for them to realize it was not their food. It was then taken to a table of 3 men who were dressed in work cloths (tee shirts). The food sat on their table for several minutes. They may have sampled the food. Eventually the food came to us and we asked that it be thrown away and new food be prepared. The waitress was very sorry and bought us a drink. We went to the bar for a night cap. The bar was backed up with dirty glasses and dishes.
Excellent food. Better menu than Waterstar Grille but without the awesome deck.
Chicken pot pie without chicken or vegetables, overly thick sauce lacked flavor and a pastry crust which was hard and also tasteless. Roasted chicken was way over cooked and skin was rubbery. The portion size was not even close to warrant the $33 price. The garlic mashed potatoes were okay and filled the majority of the plate. Creamed spinach was a thick sauce with shreds of spinach added for color but certainly not worth eating. Appetizers were much better but overall way overpriced for diner quality fare.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at SAX. The restaurant was quite busy but everything was great. Our server was outstanding. He appreciated our desire to dine, not just eat and run. It was a really realxing evening. The tuna tartare appetizer is too good...don't hesitate to ask for a few extra wontons if you like them b/c it only comes with 2. The wedge salad is so big you could feed at least 3 people. And the tuna entree is absolutely outstanding!! But make sure you save room for dessert. There is a wonderful chocolate dessert that comes in this very unique glass bowl (almost looks like a small vase or fish bowl) . It is as delicious as it is funky cool to look at:-) I highly recommend a night out at SAX!
Service needs to tighten up. Appeared new servers need more training. Multi course foods, apps, salad, and soup should not all be served at once.
Ther Server was very attentive and made sure that our food orders were exactly as we had requested. The food was very high quality and the portion sizes were large. I would eat here again.
Everything was excellent our drinks from the very very nice bartender were delicious. The waiters and service was great. Everyone was so nice. Would definitely recommend going. We had breakfast the next morning and again everything was so nice and delicious.
Excellent social distancing and service. Food very good.
We had a wonderful night to celebrate my birthday! It was extremely socially distanced with excellent service. Great food and ambience. Highly recommend!
Shout out to our server Paul and to the live entertainment of MS Fadden. Both were amazing -
For starters, I doubt there was even liquor in our drink. The Caesar salad had just as many salty croutons as it had lettuce also there was hardly any dressing and there were radishes in it I never heard of radishes in a Caesar salad. The filet mignon was ordered medium rare and was received rare, the New York strip was ordered medium and was rare at best but not even ...the steak was raw and cold inside. The filet mignon came with some creepy french fries that were sprinkled with cheese and soggy as pasta. I asked multiple times if a cook prepared my food or a chef I was told multiple times that they had a chef but I seriously doubt it if they do he needs to go back to school. The dipping oil for the bread had some spices at the bottom but if you actually got any of them on your bread it tasted like nothing but salt .it’s four hours after I ate my dinner and my lips are still burning from all the salt on my food.
Had Valentine's dinner here. First timers and really enjoyed the whold experience. Tables were well distanced and menus were non-existent. QR code scanned to smart phone did the trick.
My fiancé and I both ordered the valentines prefix menu and the food was amazing.
We were a party of 7 celebrating 2 birthdays and Valentine’s Day. The food was excellent - we shared the Brussel sprouts, bruschetta, charcuterie and clams for appetizers. Our favorites wereq the brussel sprouts and clams. For dinner most of us ordered the short ribs, which were delicious. We also shared two wines- the Forefathers Sauvignon Blanc and the Luigi Righetti Amarone. They were both outstanding! For dessert we shared the hot blonde and pumpkin cheesecake which were both delicious. We really enjoyed our meal and also enjoyed the entertainment (Steve was excellent on the piano). I highly recommend Sax for your next special occasion.
Went for a Valentine’s Dinner. Ambiance was lovely. Food was sensational. The only negative was that our actual waiter just seemed to be going their the motions. He seemed to have little desire to be working. That said, the rest of the staff and manager was phenomenal. Friendly, attentive and all-around tremendous.
I had a wonderful evening at SAX. Everything from the service to the food was outstanding and Demond my expectations. The shrimp cocktail was one of the best I have ever had! And the sesame ginger tuna was outstanding. My husband loved the tuna entree and I had the scallops. The portion of scallops was unlike any restaurant I have ever been to and much appreciated.
I would highly recommend the restaurant to friends. My only reco would be for a better wine list. It’s too heavily skewed to California wines. I prefer French whites ans Italian reds. That said, we enjoyed the cocktails that the bartender prepared 😊
It was so nice to enjoy an evening out!!
The service was excellent! From the moment we arrived the hostess was attentive. She worked hard to make sure everyone had a seat for a cocktail with social distancing in mind. The bartender was friendly and prompt and the cocktails were perfect. Can’t say enough about our waiter. He went out of his way to make sure everything was taken care of and had great recommendations. We can’t wait to go back.
We waited 10 minutes to get water. Had to request a different waiter the service was so poor.
Unfortunately we had poor service. The restaurant is nice, the food was good, but the sever did take care of us. When we asked for the second drink , he said that he forget about it.... he never brought bread , we had to ask the food runner for it.
Very disappointed. I ordered the Pot Pie (probably a bad choice) overall the taste was very bland. What was really disappointing was there was literally 3 small cubes of chicken in it. I ate maybe 5 bites. Waiter asked if everything was excellent. I said nothing. He took my bowl and said nothing even though it was basically an uneaten meal. Honestly a store bought frozen one you ate as a kid is a much better value.
My wife had the scallops and risotto. Risotto was undercooked and the scallops were very salty. She ate the scallops and left the entire plate dull of Risotto.
Atmosphere was nice. Desert was good. But waiter didn’t even ask if we wanted coffee.
Disappointed. Will avoid this place in the future.
One of my favorite restaurants! Food is epic.
The food was excellent and the servers and hostess were extremely friendly. Overall a great experience
Great food, felt safe, great service
We enjoyed our Christmas dinner at SAX very much! The atmosphere was beautiful, the staff was exceptional, and the food was absolutely delicious... especially the Terrarium dessert! Thank you for a very special experience.
Wonderful experience! Emily was our waitress and she was awesome! The food and ambiance were perfect to celebrate Christmas Eve!
Holiday get together
We always enjoy dining at Sax and being at the Reeds.
Both the service and food were outstanding. The tables were distant from any others and staff took clear safety precautions and followed required protocols. It was a wonderful date night!
Food and service never fail. Just love the Reeds Restaurant!
We ate inside, but the weather was great, so many people sat outside and saw a great sunset.
We were expecting more from such an exclusive hotel in Stone Harbor, NJ. It was just ok!
My BFF and I enjoyed a long overdue get away. Covid_19 has been a challenge for many restaurants, but SAX is shining through! We ate indoors, nicely spaced, feeling safe as servers and (most) patrons wearing mask if moving around. We had a gorgeous bay view. We enjoyed the acoustic guitarist as we dined. Firepit Fridays on the deck provides a great vibe for all. Our meals were delicious (NY strip and Beef Filet) cooked to perfection and yummy sides including creamed spinach, mushrooms and string beans. The shrimp cocktail app was also delish!
