Scarpetta Beach

Our waiter Dominic was so awesome. He helped choose our menu from apps to dessert the first night and we enjoyed the meal so much, we went back the following night and asked to be seated in his section. Once again, he designed our menu and it was totally different than the night before but equally delicious. I loved staying at the hotel and being at the beach but I think we might have to plan another trip with some friends just to eat at the restaurant again.

Although the food was outstanding (steak and duck) the service was terrible . . . at the beginning. We arrived early, was told our table was NOT ready (that was okay) but we wanted to have a drink and was told to go outside. We sat for almost 30 minutes for the wait staff to even notice us. When our table was finally ready, again, we waited for 15 minutes before ANYONE took our drink order. They made up for it - somewhat - by apologizing profusely and offering our drinks on the house.

We dine here about 4 times a year. We love Montauk. The restaurant is beautiful. The food is great! Just wish there was a little more of a variety.

Never disappoints

We are a Spanish couple living in NYC. We initially went to Gurneys to spend 4th of July weekend and we loved their COVID-friendly environment so much, we've ended up spending most of the rest of the year at what we now call home away from home. As one would imagine, we've had numerous dinners at the restaurant throughout the summer and into the winter and loved every single one of them. The overall experience and quality is as consistent as it can get in the current situation and the team (who we now call family) work every night as if it was their first one. Including Christmas Eve two days ago, where we had a wonderful dinner with family, kids and even Ringo, our dog. Polenta is a must, wagyu striploin is truly special and as you would expect - all pasta dishes are great, perfect sophistication-to-size balance. Thanks for looking after us Roberto and Team, looking forward to New Years Eve!

Food was incredible - my dad is a huge critic and absolutely loved everything our waiter recommended (the lobster pasta!)

Service was great and everyone was accommodating for COVID. Sat outside by the heat lamps.

Amazing experience! The service was impeccable and the food was even better. It was a bit too cold to sit outside but you can hear the waves as you eat. Inside was amazing and some music in the background. The food is a bit pricey but expected as it is the best hotel / spot in Montauk.

The food was EXCELLENT!!! Our favorite was the braised short rib - we were almost licking the plate from how good it was! Everything was 5 stars from service to food to ambiance. Food is a little pricey but would definitely recommend for date nights or special occasions.

Beautiful setting, excellent service and an interesting expolatory menu. Small servings at a premium. Great date location.

All of the people that we encountered that represent gurneys and scarpetta beach were extremely rude. We asked to sit outside due to COVID and several times we were treated like garbage for not feeling comfortable to be inside. As soon as we sat the server said are you sure you will want to sit here and actually stay because the last three couples have moved so....what a welcome! We had to wait over 20 mins to even put in a drink order and overall it was just so disappointing because we are trying to support restaurants but this was such a disappointment. Will not be coming back.

Wow! Celebrated my birthday there and had a beautiful time! Food was stellar. Francisco was our server, and he was such a gem. Thoughtful and knowledgeable!!! Big thank you to Juan!!

The best place out East. Always a treat to eat here. The Staff guess above and beyond to make your night special. Can’t wait to return.

Disappointed with the service. My wife ordered the duck medium well and it came to the table rare. The server took the duck back but left my entree on the table. It took so long for the duck to come back that my entree got cold. The server took my entree back to warm up and left my wife’s entree on our table. Each of us ate part of dinner without the other one eating. This is poor staff training. No apologies were given my the management.

Rushed service, have had better service at a hotdog cart. Totally ruined our experience

Experience was good, waiter was a bit standoffish, not very attentive or friendly, had to saw at my duck with a butter knife for about half my meal before I flagged another server down who was great and ran to get me a steak knife. Host was lovely. Food was good. Can’t beat being right on the beach:)

Amazing experience. From the food, service, and atmosphere, top notch. Fish was perfectly cooked and the pasta was divine.

Was excited to come here after always going to the Scarpetta in philly and having an awesome experience every-time.

This was the opposite for Scarpetta beach. The front desk staff could not have been ruder. They didn’t look at us or give us the time of day. Our waiter was miserable and never asked us one time how our dinner was or if there was anything else he could get us. I had to ask for another glass of wine. We had to ask to have dessert. He tried to close us out before we could order another Round of drinks Or dessert. Did not seem friendly at all and unfortunately it was so unpleasant it ruined our dinner experience and we couldn’t wait to get out of there.

Great seafood.. great apps .. beet salad was amazing. Service was excellent. Great vibe without being too pretentious . Crowds a bit snobby but just ignore them and do your thing. The feel and scenery is incredible overlooking the ocean.

Great food. Too bad the weather was not nice to enjoy the ocean view.

I had eaten here back in July and it was great from service to food I mean they even sat our party earlier then the reservation time . Very accommodating . But this time around I cannot say anything good about Scarpetta beach and will never be stepping foot in this establishment again .Also keep in mind I been coming out to Montauk for the last 15 years and staying at Gurneys when I had a time share back when it was called Gurneys inn . First a party of three was shoved at a two person table and to have a dead bug on the window next to us ( very clean and classy right ) next the waitress comes over to us and we said we are waiting for the manager to seat us at another table I mean who wants a dead bug next to them eating there polenta I mean really . So we said can we order some drinks in the mean while the waitress bluntly said No right to my face and you need to wait for your server. Ok RUDE! ( she ended up being our waitress anyway in the end cause she said since will be moved to a different section she can’t take the order ) an hour finally goes by we got there at 9:15 for our 9:30 reservation and did not be seated at a new table till 10:30 and finally the rude waitress takes our drink order . The manager wasn’t to helpful he first says the round of drinks is on the house sorry for everything just to see they charged us anyway . Totally unacceptable for what you pay for I mean we had these reservations weeks in advanced and the manager was basically saying without saying it like I don’t care if you had it years in advanced . Overall horrible service and experience . Rude staff and for the money you spend to stay here it’s completely overrated . Gurneys lost its originality and Scarpetta beach is the reason .
