Shaw's Crab House - Chicago

Excellent outdoor dining experience and the food was terrific! We were warm and the layout is very COVID friendly.

Overall a great experience. Waiters are incredibly attentive and polite. Outdoor ambiance is so cute and comfortable. They are doing an excellent job with all of the covid regulations. I hope they continue to get the support they need to be the great restaurant and team that they are.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary last week at Shaws, one of our favorite places. The outdoor dining area is so nice! The photo on the website captures the cozy, festive atmosphere there. Although it is mid-January, we didn’t need our coats because we had a propane heater at our table. We could also have had a heated blanket, but didn’t need it. We ordered Bloody Marys to start, and King Salmon and Dover Sole for dinner. Everything was so so delicious, perfectly prepared and presented. The wait staff was very attentive. We finished the evening with Perfect Manhattans and peppermint ice cream. We will definitely be back. It was a great experience.

The outside area at Shaw's is lovely and plenty warm enough. WE had a lovely evening and were so glad to be able to eat at one of our favorite places. We will be back soon! Kudos to Shaw's for providing an excellent dining experience in very challenging circumstances.

I was happy to be outside of the house. It was outdoor dining. They did the best they could do. We under the bridge out back. The staff did a great job of checking in on us.

Overall good evening with good food. Warning blanket was a plus.

Cory was nice and accommodating, but...we found ourselves in constant need of his attention and having to ask other servers/managers for assistance.

In the midst of the pandemic, Shaw's did not disappoint. When I initially made the outdoor reservations, I didn't know what to expect. When we arrived, it looked "a lot like Christmas!" What a wonderful outdoor dining experience. If it wasn't for the sounds of Chicago, it would have been hard to tell that we were literally dining outside. There were heaters near every table and the impeccable service made up of anything that would have been lost (but was not). Job well done!

New Year’s Eve

One of the few outdoor winter dining experiences where I feel truly comfortable during this pandemic. It is warmed by heaters, and really very cozy. The food at Shaw's has always been great, and they are continuing with that through this tough time. The staff is welcoming and the service is excellent. We will be back!

Nice setting but very mediocre food and service. The hostess was lovely and helpful, but our waiter kept taking down his mask to talk. We had to ask him not to do it.

We came here for my dad's birthday and the food was amazing!! They had an outdoor tent to accommodate outdoor seating and it was decorated for the holidays- so cute and quaint!

We came for our 25th anniversary celebration. We let them know ahead of time, and they did not do anything to acknowledge that. I appreciate that they were very creative to have outside, safe place to eat. We had to ask twice to get warm towels. We asked about something regarding our meal and the wAiter never got back to us about it. The food was average and expensive. Overall not terrible but certainly not worth the $150 bill. Last year we went to the Tortoise Supper Club and had an outstanding experience. We’ll go back there next year.

Shaws is a Chicago classic still worth visiting. Great cesaer salad. Walleye to die for--and it came piping hot, both fish and plate. A little disappointed in the clam chowder--to my taste, over-thickened and skimpy on the clams; potatoes a little underdone. But still hits the spot. The "patio" feels precious; great job of turning a kind of ugly spot into a holiday oasis. Service was amazing!

We had Christmas Eve dinner in Shaw’s festive and cozy outdoor space. It was a lovely, albeit different, Christmas Eve.

Incredible! The best dining experience we have in a “tent” temperature was exceptional and the ambiance is everything you would want in a dining experience. Our server was Cody and he was absolutely amazing, I would recommend requesting him specifically, though I’m sure anyone would just great!

Dinner at Shaws is a Christmas tradition for our family. We were delighted to have a wonderful holiday meal this past week on Shaw's outdoor patio!

Although we love the holiday cheer in the indoor dining room, our holiday experience was not diminished in any way due to the wonderful service from the attentive staff and the always outstanding cuisine.

We look forward to a return visit in the near future!

Absolutely incredible food. Seriously some of the best seafood I have ever experienced. The lobster bisque was rich, and velvety. The delicately flakey crab cakes were fresh and pleasantly spiced. Due to the covid necessitated outdoor setting under the roadway, Icouldn't give high marks for ambiance, but once the main room is open again, that looked simply charming. Outdoors was actually fine, and individual warmed blankets are offered. Some quite efficient heaters are available to keep everyone toasty. I'm just glad they're open and able to keep their high quality menu and service. I found it worth the price tag for a seafood splurge.
