Shearwater at Stage Neck Inn
We loved the new raw bar on Thursday! This is a great addition to the menu! Service was excellent and fast.
Had a wonderfully relaxed lunch. Our server was professional and friendly, never made us feel rushed. The onion soup was fabulous! We’ll definitely be back!
Just everything was fantastic
food was good and attractively plated. Ambience is excellent. However, the wait between courses is unacceptable. We ordered a light meal and intended to order dessert and cordials. But after waiting 45 minutes for a salad, we threw in the towel. I left and waited in the car and it still took an additional 25 minutes for my husband to pay the bill. We felt very unwelcome at Shearwater.
Would like healthy food on the menu like a nice iceberg lettuce salad with fresh veggies on it. Organic quiche with antibiotic free eggs and organic orange juice for breakfast. Organic soup. Thank you.
Enjoyed a quiet dinner by the fireplace. Had a light dinner of fried oysters, truffle fries, Brussels sprouts and Reuben sandwich. Everything was good except for the truffle fries which were lackluster. The blueberry pie with mango was exceptional.
The drinks were outstanding and the food was excellent and was well-presented. The service was friendly and accommodating. Sitting in the bar area, which we elected to do, was a bit nosier. However, the piano music really enhanced the dining experience. Making a reservation online was particularly convenient.
Everything was as enjoyable as always. Food, service, ambiance was wonderful. I highly recommend it.
Gorgeous setting for a Cordon Bleu lunch. Ty Kyle, Brian and CHEF!! WOW!
Good food and spectacular setting if you are staying at the Stage Neck Inn.
We were unable to eat in the Shearwater restaurant and were seated in a different area overlooking the harbor. Unfortunately the tide was out so not too attractive. Not nearly as pleasant. My friends' rib eye was tough and I opted for the haddock. I felt the fried leek topping was overdone and tasted burned. It almost seemed the kitchen was overwhelmed by the private party in the Shearwater restaurant.
I had dined there before and it was lovely but not so this time.
Three of us enjoyed our encrusted Haddock very nice the other member went for a turkey sandwich which he enjoyed. We had expresso martinis that we enjoyed. The ambiance was pleasant. 👍
When we arrived we were informed the main dining room was not available. The alternate dining area was quiet and had nice ambiance.
My wife and I always at least one dinner and and a drop-in date night at Shearwater whoever we’re visiting York Beach!!
Shearwater has to decide if they are a dining facility or a bar. The piano was too loud and some of the customers were very loud and there was no effort by the staff to quiet them down. I had made reservations three months in advance and requested a window seat and we were seated three rows away from the windows in the middle of the room. The wait staff were not exceptional and the food was only adequate. Will not be returning as the view did not make up for the other factors.
Beautiful restaurant, great service. The lobster was great but my husbands chicken was on the dry side. Great homemade soups, terrific desserts. Good wine list.
Stopped in for lunch on a sunny day and the view from our outdoor table was worth the trip all by itself, as were the Adirondack chairs we relaxed in after our meal. We both had the haddock sandwich, fish was cooked perfectly. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back.
The menu was really interesting and had a good mix standards and new items. The Ahi Tuna Poke appetizer was really well executed, and the scallops with spicy thai rice was delicious. The bar has a virgin cocktail with gingerale and blood orange puree that was excellent, and even better when they added gin. Wait staff were available without being pushy, and the view is unbeatable.
You can't beat the view. The food is okay. Some options were wonderful; others okay; and some not so good. Service was good except that waitress seemed like she would rather be someplace else. It's quiet and someplace I've been going to for years and held some family events. We'll be back. We know what to order.
Food was excellent and ambiance awesome. Service was extremely slow as the meal went on. For example, our desert arrived 25 minutes after we ordered it.
We had an excellent evening. Our only complaint is the limited menu and none of the extras that you expect from that level of dining.
Inventive takes on classics --- delicious. Service was spot on and the ambiance was lovely.
The menu is too limited. Everything, including bread, is extra. There are other choices in the area.
We have been eating here for years every time we come to Maine for weekends away. The place is pricey, but the food, choices, presentation, and service don’t disappoint. This visit was exceptional like those in our past and only more memorable because of the service extended by our fantastic waitress kiley. Although she conveyed early on that she was new, her bubbly personality and will to doing a good job we’re evident throughout our dining experience. Thank you to Kiley and Shearwater for making our night there the highlight of our weekend. 🥂
Uneven: The dlicious appetizers are followed by skimpy entrees at twice the price. Eat here from the first course menu only.
Our waiter was exceptional. Very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.
Our server Crystal was awesome!
Food was delicious and outdoor seating very nice!
First...we are sort of foodies...The view and restaurant ambiance are great! We had a very informative and attentive waiter and saw he had quite a few tables but still was on top of things without looking harried. My daughter ordered a pear martini which came back very dark and tasted like Robitussin cough syrup. The waiter stated he also is also a bartender, but didn't make this, and didn't know what it was made of. He personally made her another pear martini cocktail which was good! We ordered a few appetizers...white bean dip, fries with a cheese sauce, and burrata. The fries were obviously frozen and the "cheese sauce" ...didn't taste like cheese sauce. We did let the manager on duty know when she made the courtesy rounds and she took them off the bill...not our intent but a very weak menu item. More like a packaged sauce of sorts. All other appetizers just "meh." Our dinners were better...haddock and tuna tart tare...but nothing special. I had the rib-eye with an Au Pouvoir sauce which was more like a gravy and tasted like a powdered product. Not great. The restaurant was very accommodating in ordering a birthday cake from Hannaford's and the server again was great in serving and making it special. We'd certainly go back for a drink outside on an Adirondack chair outside enjoying the view but they need to change the kitchen and do much better for repeat business. They could have a gold mine!
Great Dining, Great Service, and Perfect View!
Great meal. Terrific server. Not rushed. Quiet setting. Beautiful view.
Food is amazing and the service very good. The only concern is that the menu is limited and if you are staying at the hotel then finding different foods to eat on the second and third night may be a struggle
A simple hospitality oversight on the part of management blemished an otherwise excellent experience at Shearwater. Our server was (apparently) new to her task and forgot to put our order in for our appetizers, and they were forgotten until I mentioned to the person delivering our entrees of the oversight. While the manager on duty did come to apologize and ask if we still wanted them, it was a moot point since our (delicious) entrees had arrived. Ordinarily, in an establishment that touts excellence, there would (should) have been a gesture for a free desert or after dinner drink to make amends for the oversight. Lesson learned, I hope, but this is clearly one area that needs improvement.
We arrived early and we were accommodated early at a nice water view spacious table for 6. The service was excellent and the food was also excellent. Great experience!
Tommy, our server, was excellent. He was such a friendly person. He made sure we were happy with our choices. The view can not be beat.
We went to Shearwater to celebrate a big birthday for my wife. We had with us three of my children, their husbands and two grandchildren. The youngest were 3 years and nine months, so taking them along was a risky proposition. All went very well. My wife had the "Best lobster roll of her life" and my granddaughter had the best hotdog of her life. Now that's menu range! The setting is gorgeous and the staff was fantastic. Bloody Marys are worth coming back for.
Thank you for a perfect brunch.
Susie is my favorite server .i ask fir her always ..i do however miss the scones that use to be in the bakery section of the buffett and my grandchildren would like pancakes instead of the fried french toast and regular french toast as a change on sunday mornings as thats when we come thanks so much see you soon
Caecars salad was served warm with little bacon.
