Ship Inn Seafood and Steak
Crab Cake Sandwich
on brioche roll with lettuce, tomato, pickle, sauce verdi and french fries
We dined outside. It was lovely. The food was perfect. The salads were fresh and artfully prepared. We both had burgers which were delicious and prepared exactly as we requested.
Father’s Day dinner. Food was just ok for the price nothing special. Patio and service were wonderful!
We were excited that they had a table available for outdoor dining on short notice. Then we went and figured out why.... It was almost comical how bad it was. From hearing that they had to run out somewhere to pick up burgers to fulfill orders from the server, to the wrong drinks and being told they were out of beer only to find out a few minutes later they were not, to constantly empty drinks and forgotten dishes and glasses, to being served one slightly toasted potato slider roll as the bread before our room temp meals finally appeared over 2 hours after we sat down next to a tray of cleared dishes from another table... We won't be back.
Great place food was delicious and service outstanding
Food was good, however service was very slow and understaffed. One server did not wear a mask.
Food was very good , however the amount of flounder for $27 was a bit miniscule.
Frequented the restaurant as a single at the bar many times.
We enjoyed our meal at the Ship Inn very much. The owner Carrie, and our waitress, Debbie were very nice. Debbie was an excellent waitress. The ambiance was excellent. We would recommend it to anyone looking to get out for the first time since the pandemic!
Portions we're small for the price. Surprised by the limited seafood selection; mostly crabmeat added to other stuff. Service was great, restaurant was clean and quiet.
Had the Spanish paella - it was ok, nothing special. My meal with no alcohol, no appetizer and no coffee or dessert - so basically just paella and ice water - was $41. Way too pricey.
Food was excellent and service was first rate as well. We will return! George C.
Very nice lunch. The food and the service did not disappoint. This restaurant was very clean, the chandeliers and the windows were shining
The quality of the food was not agreeable to the price point. Service was friendly but needed managing. The building is historic and old but dirty.
Good place for a quiet dinner. Would love to see a little more on the menu for vegetarians/ healthy food consumers.
Our waitress was filling on V-day for the Ship Inn and I thought she did a wonderful job for never working there before. I didn’t like seeing managers scolding her in front of customers either. I also was impressed how other staff handled a very rude and nasty customer that was sitting behind us. This person was out of line and the staff handled themselves with patience and professionalism. The food was amazing, we did have to wait a while, but that didn’t bother us being that it was Valentine’s Day and the place was busy. We will be back!
My table did not get napkins or spoons. Finally got a napkin when my date and I had both finished our entres.
Little pricey but it was good. Good not great service.
Always great food.
Needs to do more advertising concerning Historic Inn and upscale menu. They appear to concentrate more on the Bistro section of the Inn.
My wife and I were seated in a poorly lit area with booths - the other half of the room was totally dark. No tablecloths, the feel was that of an old, worn down American pub. There was only one other couple in the room, at 7:00 pm on a Saturday night. The busy bar played old music for a geriatric crowd. No patron was below 60 or so. We were tempted to leave, but decided to give it a chance. A meager piece of bread for each was brought about 15 min. after we ordered. The food took about 40', and it was well presented, but way overcooked and not at all tasty. My wife's chicken parmesan was just OK, but the side pasta was inedible. I ordered a $32 "Spanish Paella w/ Saffron Rice", a complete travesty. I got a paltry serving of overcooked WHITE rice on one side of the plate (no saffron whatsoever), a modest meddle of overcooked seafood in the middle, and some kind of over-salted inedible dark brown thick gravy on the other side. The waitress and the manager (owner?) were attentive, and because of that we decided to eat some of what was served to us, left a generous tip, but will not return. On our way out, we checked the separate rooms further down the restaurant, which were well lit, had tablecloths and an inviting colonial atmosphere reminiscent of an assisted living facility. But for some reason, that's not where we were seated. I would advise anyone under 70, with taste buds still healthy, to stay way clear of this restaurant.
Excellent service and food! Well worth the price. I had the sea bass and it was excellent. Cooked just right and excellent flavor and texture. Apple pie for desert...all I can say is "yummy!" . Will definitely return.
Haven't visited the Ship Inn for a bit. We went for dinner and really had a nice time. The food was great as usual and the presentation was beautiful. They have made some changes to the menu that we weren't sure about but turned out to be very good. I always recommend the Ship Inn. All places have ups and downs but we are never disappointed!!!
My fiancé and I enjoy dining here! Tonight was one of the best nights! We were celebrating our anniversary and the waitress, Carrie, brought us 2 complimentary glasses of champagne! She made us feel special and gave us the perfect amount of attention. My fiancé had the Steak Diane which was cooked perfectly and I had the Tuna Special which was amazing. We sat in the historic side of the restaurant in a blue and white fabric wallpapered room next to the fireplace. The ambiance was romantic especially with candles on every table lit and the chandelier was dimmed with the right amount of light to make it even more romantic. We will definitely be back!
Limited menu choices. Two out of three entrees wer barely edible!!!!!
There were six of us that went to the Ship's Inn for New Year's Eve. I suggested this restaurant since my wife and I went there for Thanksgiving dinner and were very pleased. Our New Year's Eve experience, however, was terrible. First of all, everyone ordered drinks which took some time to be served. One of the women in our party ordered a Lemondrop martini and it was served in a wine glass and did not taste right. She sent it back and ordered a glass of wine.
We had to wait about 1/2 hour before our dinner orders were taken. The dinners were finally delivered about one hour after that. Two of the women ordered scallops which were cold and had a balsamic sauce topping them which was different than what was described on the menu. Both women, sent the food back and ordered something else.
Two in our party ordered beef which was served luke warm. Neither of these dinners were sent back. The remaining two in our party ordered the crab cakes. The crab cakes were hot but the sides were cool. These dinners were not sent back.
The four diners who opted to keep their dinners were just about finished when the replacement dinners were served. The woman who ordered a combination of appetizers was surprised that she couldn't eat the shrimp because it was so undercooked. When we alerted the waiter he told use she would not be charged for that dinner but he would pack it up for her to take home. We were not charged but the packed meal was never brought out.
Based on this experience, we would not be visiting the restaurant any time soon, especially not on a holiday.
Very nice overall experience
I would like to Ship Inn to offer a 'short'pour when I order my 2nd wine. Sometime 2 full glasses of wine is too much. That would be appreciated. Thank you
Our first time at the Ship Inn and we thoroughly enjoyed it! I had the special stuffed shrimp and my husband had the paella, both were excellent! We hesitated going because of some negative reviews but are so glad we did go! We will be back!
Holiday luncheon with my family. Servers were good, but didn’t seem to understand that we wanted to relax a bit with drinks. Kids meals were served and we were asked about ordering 4x before we said we would signal when ready. Meals were good, but pricey for the size of the salads and entrees. Desserts were very good. Best part of the night was the after dinner drinks at the bar with Donnie.
First, I booked on Open Table for 6pm and was sent a confirmation email. Later, I received a phone call saying that the 6pm time was not available. I had to change it to 4:30. Both emails I requested a room with a fireplace. When we got there we were seated all the way in the back even though there were MANY tables available in the rooms with the fireplace. I asked about it and the comment was that those tables were reserved. Well, my table was reserved too but I got put in the back room.
I inquired about the crab cakes and whether there was a lot of filler and was told no. I’ve eaten many crab cakes that had much less filler.
Also, it would have been nice to include a chicken dish in the Christmas Eve menu.
Always a wonderful time here, and perfect for a dinner out near the holidays. Everything was just beautiful--I loved my fish and my soup, and everyone with me had a lovely night out.
Easy reservation process, waitress was very nice and helpful. The ambience is awesome as our table was near the fireplace. Great food!
I would only say three stars. Food was so-so. Potato wasn't cooked all the way and filet was not good quality. We were there on a Sunday night and there were not many people there (to be expected). Was always anxious to try this place but once was enough for me.
Food was ok , service was not so great , considering the place was almost empty
The waitress was so incompetent, had to ask for everything a number of times
Based on our lunch, yes indeed. We ordered the coconut shrimp for lunch and it was delicious. It was served with carrots and green beans and we substituted the potatoes for a delicious side salad. Our server was excellent and never rushed us. We will definitely go back to the Ship Inn!
The steak was good, but the scallop was very disappointing. We were surprised to see only 3 small, thin pieces of scallops for the dinner portion. It looked smaller than an appetizer. This dish cost $30+ For 3 pieces was not right.
The waitress seemed to be inexperienced. She Was nice but forgot the bread, messed up our orders and also absent minded.
Two Turkey dinners were great but they ran out of mashers at 7:00. Not a big deal. BUT the Fillet Mignon was some other cut of meat. Not fillet! They agreed the cut was ‘bad’. Although it was cooked ok the next piece was the same cut and under cooked. We opted for the NY Strip to take home. It was ok but thin and they tried to charge the full $37 price. I complained and they knocked off $15 and gave 2 deserts. This is not a steak house and It’s over priced. By the way management never came to the table to ‘have a discussion’.
Food was great service was as well we will come back
I think this was very overbooked for a holiday. It was so noisy and we did not get seated in the dining room. We were seated in the bar area , in a booth. I felt like I was celebrating Thanksgiving in a diner. The dinner was very good but I would not dine here on a holiday again. I like a tablecloth.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner and food and service was good. Usually on a holiday, dinner is not always the best. We were presently surprised.. We have not been to the restaurant in a couple of years but will go again. Saying we will go again is saying a lot.
