Simpson's In The Strandの評価
Me and my husband were given some vouchers as a wedding gift. I'd not heard of Simpsons before but following our experience, we can't wait to go back. The ambiance is great, service was incredible (thank you to Nina and the team) and we were very well attended to all afternoon. Very nice personable staff whilst maintaining the upmost service and realising that we had recently got married. Last but definately not least, the food which was absolutely delicious. Easily the best roast we have ever eaten and plenty of it!!! Not sure how they manage to make it so delicious. Overall a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon.
Went for lunch with my partner, absolutely fantastic, attentive but not to attentive waiter/dining room manager he's name was jeet , food was incredible, if you want to treat yourself to a little bit of luxury then this is the place to go, wine waiter was superb too although I didn't get his name, will defo be going back next time in London
As a Simpsons fan of old I couldnt help feeling the changes; staff were excellent but the excellent ,charismatic ,french sommelier no longer there, barring a few simple errors in service by a junior waiter bringing extra pepper sauce for our beef Wellington, leaving the empty ones on the table as the small jars ( instead of a gravy boat) they provided were clearly just enough to leave you wanting, it was the usual great British experience.
Crab salad poor in presentation but delicious & on the small side and do not seem to match the sumptuous photographs online.
I missed the duck with apple sauce from the old menu.
Refreshing to note a number of young, international , well dressed & fashionable couples
clearly enjoying themselves.
A great British institution.
Our second visit to this former gentlemen’s chess club did not disappoint. The service is meticulous, the food sublime and the knowledge of the waiting staff is exemplary. This is a somewhat formal establishment, very British, hence a Bill of Fare rather than a Menu but not stuffy or uptight.
We had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The welcome was warm, the service attentive and pitched at the right level. Food was as good as we had hoped but we were a bit disappointed with swede and carrot being the only vegetables. Something green would have enhanced the plate.
A lovely experience and we would recommend it.
This was our first visit to the refurbished Simpson’s after being regulars for the last 35 years. The updated decor was well done and the room retains the same ambience as before. The menu was different but attractive and the food I had was delicious - salt-baked beets and Daphne’s Welsh lamb rack. My partner was slightly disappointed by the lamb on the trolley, which was a leg rather than the saddle they used to serve. Service was, as ever, impeccable although there were only a few left of the old staff, which is a shame.
We chose Simpsons for a special occasion (wedding anniversary). The service was great, the restaurant is lovely. The food was very good and we really enjoyed it. The only issue we had as that there is no wine list on the website (no doubt if people saw the cost of the wine they would be put off booking) and we were taken aback by the eye-watering cost of even the cheapest bottle wine. The food is well priced but the price of the wine would prevent us returning, much as we enjoyed the experience. Wine lists that start at £50 a bottle are simply elitist - Simpsons has so much to offer so that is a shame.
About 15 years since my last visit ( a business dinner)... this time I took the wife and kids (ages 10-14). Had an absolutely wonderful time...such a special place. Service was impeccable - everyone made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We found the menu offerings to be nimble enough for our kids and their 'selective' choices. Food was great...special cocktails for the kids...great wine for the adults. Food was great...ideal portions, tasty sides and desserts as well. Two of my kids shared a fish/chips...which was a little on the bread/battery side, but still good. The rest of us enjoyed selections from the carving cart.
The crowd was interesting...a Sunday evening. Seemed like a brand spectrum of guests, many whom were very casually dressed... and I suppose that was the only real disappointment. We made a concerted effort to dress smartly (men in jackets, women in dresses) which was in compliance with the suggested dress code. And there were plenty of others who got the memo as well...but more than a few looked as if they had come directly from a football match. So, because Simpsons is such a special and traditional dining experience, I wish they would more strictly enforce their dress policy.
I have been searching for a good roast for a long time. I am a good cook so I was after something special. well, my searching was rewarded; at last. the beef, served on trolley and on the bone (rib). med, rare was requested. the meat was wonderful. so tasty and tender. the gravy was so good another was ordered. the veg was sublime , much like the beef. they offer lamb which I am looking forward to trying next time. shame the yorkies were luke warm, because they were great also. wonderful service and dinning room. great value also. thankyou
Lunch at Simpson’s in the Strand was a pleasure from start to finish. The wait staff were courteous, discrete, and friendly. I ordered a lamb chop, salad, glass of wine, and baked Alaska. It was perhaps the best lamb chop I have ever eaten, and I am not overly fond of lamb. The food was simply prepared and very good. The atmosphere has an old-fashioned charm that is disappearing. People dressed for lunch - leave the jeans at home - leave the baby at home, for that matter.
I was expecting a traditional silver service type dinner. I was a little embarrassed to find my main course was served in something that looked like a cross between a fruit bowl and a pasta bowl. It was a very nice bowl - for use, perhaps, in bella pasta etc - but completely inappropriate for the meal and the venue. It would be best change this back to a plain white china plate with a single quiet trim round the edge if desired.
The ambiance of the place is great. The food and drinks were good and expensive, but we knew (you can check the menu on the website) and accepted. The money was worth the experience. We would even have spent more money if the waiter(s) had taken notice of us. After the main course it took ages to even partially clear the table and nobody asked us if we wanted dessert or coffee. For a restaurant at this standing as was expecting better. So we asked the bill, the table was fully cleared, paid and we left. I guess/hope we were just unlucky since other tables definitely got more attention. I still would recommend in worst case for a 1 time experience.
Had an outstanding experience .Fabulous food a culinary delight although very pricy so would only be an occasional visit for a special occasion. We dressed up for the occasion and adhered to the dress code but was disappointed to see a lot of quite scruffy people and one young chap in jeans and a tee shirt which lowered to tone somewhat. Only criticism I have is that we ordered a glass of port with our coffee and they forgot it only remembering when we had nearly finished our coffee but they did apologise and didn't charge for it which was nice of them. Also when one of the waiters was carving the meat for the table next to us he somehow wedged himself between the carving trolley and our table so his butt was overhanging our table , a view we would preferred not to have had as we were eating our meal , hence the deduction of one star.Would have been nice to have seen a bit of literature on the history of the place as if I hadn't read about the place on the internet beforehand I wouldn't have known.
Overall would highly recommend
Took my parents for pre-theatre meal. Everything was superb apart from the fact that there seemed to be a little bit of resistance when we wanted to make a couple of small changes on the menu; additionally my father wanted a real ale and they were unable to oblige.
Boxing Day is my birthday and it is not always easy to find somewhere to celebrate. (not wanting cold turkey leftovers). Booked for a late lunch and arrived in good time to enjoy the upstairs bar. The welcome and service was excellent, as was the food, served very promptly. I was pleased to see the English wine option which proved excellent also. Thank you to all the staff who made a special day a bit more special.
