Excellent evening with a great server and terrific menu!
I had reserved this restaurant based on the good reviews, but was very disappointed in both my husband's meal and mine. I had ordered chicken under a brick and while the portion was a good size, it tasted very mediocre, no spice at all, smooth mashed potatoes, but soggy brussel sprouts. Plus, it came out from being under a heat lamp and in no time was barely warm. Spouse had lobster pasta dish, literally 5 mouth size pieces of dry lobster and totally unremarkable sauce. I just expected more for the prices and reputation. I complained, mostly about my meal, and to his credit, the manager, Tyler, agreed when seeing it that it was not up to par, took my meal off the bill and tried to make amends by offering another dish and some wine. But, we just wanted to leave. Hopefully this was just a bad night for the chef, but as in any restaurant, do not settle for "diner" style food at upscale prices.
First time coming here. For a bar their dinner is exceptional! Bacon wrapped shrimp was a little greasy but my Chilean sea bass was cooked to perfection! Melt in your mouth! My boyfriend’s steak was cooked well but had a lot of peppercorns in the sauce. A little overpowering. Their popover was amazing. Never had one before. Light and airy.
The original and the best dining in Saratoga Springs
We had a very nice evening. Despite the rain, we were safe and dry on the back patio. Food and service was great.
Presentations and taste of dishes very good. Overall service okay. Considering other available restaurants in area probably will not return.
AWESOME restaurant! It was a recommendation from our b&b host and well worth it. The food was full of flavor, great service. Super clean restaurant with social distanced tables. We will definitely come back on our next trip to Saratoga!!
Patio was a great setting.
Staff was great Chris our waiter was wonderful. Tables outside were spaced safely. It was a great evening.
Food and service was good. Sat outside at our request, which was a mistake. The patio heaters were running out of fuel and ended up being way to cold (low 40’s) to be eating outdoors. There was no apology offered and in fact the manager laughed it off without acknowledging us. Disappointing the restaurant wasn’t prepared to keep customers comfortable if they are offering outdoor seating. Had dinner outdoors at another local restaurant the night before with no issues.
We made a reservation for inside seating about 10 days prior and when we arrived we were told we needed to sit outside or wait for an indoor table It was about 55 degrees. We sat outside and were given water, wine bread and ordered meals at appropriate time. But, we waited over an hour for our meal and it still was not ready. The waitress and manager repeatedly told us 5 mins, 5 mins, they are playing your food etc Still never came. Manager said if food wasn’t out in 5 mins from that point (now waiting 75 mins) we could leave and not pay for any of our wine etc. we waited 10 mins and left. It was 8:30 by then and we were starving. Don’t go there. They were even seating new customers and not able to feed the existing tables. (We weren’t the only table not fed). Have never seen anything like it
Superb wedge and Ceaser salads, excellent salmon and pasta entrees. Popovers, always good.
Good food, excellent service. Wonderful outdoor patio.
Great food and service. The courtyard was wonderful.
We asked if we could have a different kind of potatoes instead of French fries and were told that it would be a $4 up charge for each dinner. We thought that was pricey
Great location and ample outdoor seating .
Very eclectic as well. Fabulous historic restaurant.
We liked our server and services. However, the quality of the food was really disappointed . They served foods that was not fresh for NYC prices. Overall, we would not recommend this restaurant.
Kitchen was slammed bc a cook didn’t show, food and waiter service were great.
We never received our meal. Someone else got it. Waiter very nice. His kitchen hosed him good we walked out. We have eaten in several restaurants during the pandemic and Sperry’s win worst in class. Awful. Do not go. They took 2 hours of my life that I will never regain. Not to mention the awful loud music such as Bohemian rhapsody and the angry couple cursing each other out. This old Saratoga staple has turned into a poo poo show. Shame on you Sperry’s
It is always pleasant at Sperry’s. At first we were rushed a bit but after that it was fine. I get it with 50 percent capacity. Only disappointment was no Makers Mark, but what the server suggested fit the bill. The place is a must go for years.
Wonderful food entries! Pricing was a bit high though. Would definitely return.
First visit to Saratoga Springs and wanted to walk to an older established restaurant and eat ‘outside
Very strange situation at the bar... we had to leave because we felt unsafe... not sure what was going on... tried to ask a manager but it seemed he felt uncomfortable explaining the situation.
Had a great time overall. Our server was wonderful and the food was good!
Great Service and Food.
Service was exceptional server was was very knowledgeable of food & very attentive. I got the bolognese it only ok, not sure if cream in sauce, wouldn't recommend but other than that restaurant lovely.
It is our anniversary and the entire staff was great !
Even provided complimentary champagne
We love the ambiance and beauty in the outside space. The food is consistently good, it's clean, the service is good. Sperry's is has always been one of my favorite Saratoga Springs restaurants.
We absolutely love Sperry’s and for the first time the service and food was disappointing. I called in an advance to ask about the menus and was told something completely different then what the menu actually was. Overall we were hoping for a different experience than what we got.
The service and the ambiance were both good. The dinner was very good however the problem I had was the cost.
I ordered the veal chop and the mistake that I made was not asking the price of the special. I wont do that again.
The cost of the veal chop was $70.00! That's not a typo! $70.00.
I think when a special is that expensive the waiter should have advised us of that. I know veal chops are expensive and I have paid up to $40.00 for them...but come on!
So my advise is to always ask how much the special will cost. All the other prices are listed on the menu. My husbands chicken dinner was reasonably priced.
Atmosphere in the outdoor courtyard was very nice. Food and drinks were very good. Service was efficient. Only complaint is that we felt like they were rushing to get us to leave and we were not there long at all, as we did not order apps or dessert.
we have been there many times and stopped going after some bad food experience. So, we gave it another try. The good news is they have a new chef and the food was excellent.
but there are issues
we ordered a $130 bottle of wine and were presented with the cheapest glasses. I don't understand how a restaurant can do this and call themself fine dining. also the wine wasn't stored properly as it was way too warm. to the credit of the waiter he found appropriate stemware after I refused the glasses offered.
i like the main dining room in the front . But, the backroom has no ambiance and feels more like hotel function room.
its pains me to see such great food in a mindset of mediocracy .
We were disappointed that their traditional
Menu offerings were not available. No steaks or French onion soup during season?!? Shane!!! Charging $10 per shrimp for a shrimp cocktail is just wrong.
Plus side- oysters were a highlight!
Food was good; however, all ala carte and over-priced. The main disappointment was that the Menu was limited and not even similar to their on-line menu.
the patio floorshould be cleaned
Also I thought there should be a net under tree so nothing falls on our table.
Food was well served and very good
Loved the nusic
This is usually our favorite date night restaurant. We were seated on the patio, which was lovely. Our waiter was not very attentive, described the special incorrectly so when it came it was completely different. Our shrimp were cold, my husbands steak was barely seared and raw in the middle. And we never got popovers (our favorite part). I was very disappointed. Usually this is a gem but we had a bad experience this time 😞
service was good BUT food nothing like we are used to at Sperry's...the menu was limited (could be due to world woes)
Mostly everything was really overly fried.
Food was disappointing...appetizer of charcuterie was served with spoiled Salami and stale crackers. The waiter was attentive and did bring a replacement for the appetizer. The salmon was average, definitely not what was expected from this restaurant.
The meals were mediocre at best. The skirt steak was supposed to be medium but came out medium rare in large pieces. The fries were dark as if refried, and the arugula seemed wilted and salty. The salmon was al right, but the quinoa was tasteless. No herbs or almond like described, currents did not seem fresh and the peas and carrots were frozen. I would not return.
