St Margarets Tavern
Good food and excellent service. We had a delicious Sunday roast.
Great, organised, safe and efficient. Exactly what I wanted for my evening out
Nice Friday lunch. Pub was quite quiet and so lots of seating available, attentive waiting staff and food was served quickly. Good for groups as a large dining area.
A very pleasant way to celebrate my 70th birthday. Weather was perfect as well.
Local Pub to go for a chilled evening. Good quality food and drinks, the Halloumi fries and Thai fried chicken are a must! Thank you guys!
Great pub, looks lovely and a very friendly welcome but the food just isn't up to scratch, especially considering the price. Roast chicken was very disappointing - overcooked chicken, really thick gloopy gravy, the cabbage was the best thing about the plate. For dessert we had chocolate brownie that tasted burnt and over cooked. We paid our bill and then the waitress asked if we enjoyed it. She could see we'd barely touched the dessert and these should've been removed from our bill.
Good wine selection and friendly staff but the kitchen really needs some work.
Great food, calm and comfortable atmosphere, safe & clean throughout and really friendly staff... oh and great beer too. Top pub 👌
We actually booked for drinks only so can’t comment on the food but the atmosphere was very relaxed . I have a particular issue with music in pubs so would prefer it quieter. The service was excellent, the wine good quality and social distancing observed with opportunities to sanitise and contactless payment- good all round!!
Really enjoyed our evening here. The staff ensured they adhered to the Covid secure requirements and were attentive to ensure we had a pleasurable experience. The food was great for pub food - even catering to my GF requirements.
Great food, great service. Could not fault the fish and chips!
Excellent service. Warm welcome and food was great, came out very quickly
Lovely pub , plenty of space , great service
Very enjoyable...lovely evening.food delicious and included in eat out to help out.would definitely some again.
The service was a big let down. It took ages to get our first drinks so we ordered our wine well in advance. It took several reminders to get this delivered to our table. Food was good though and it's a nice enough place and well laid out. A proper app for ordering food would be much better. There are other places nearby that give much better service and there was nothing special enough here to make me want to go back.
Nice place for a pub lunch, food is nice however quiet expensive for what it is. Would come more often if the prices dropped
The Roast Beef dinner was really good but the accompaniment vegetables were missing like the roasted parsnips and the cabbage was undercooked but the beef was cooked to near perfection.
However, my friend’s order of roasted pork belly was underwhelming, firsts the crackling was not near crisp, it’s overcooked and dry and there’s a tangy undertone to it.
The Eton Mess was good but the apple crumble was so tart I thought I was eating rhubarb instead the saving thing for it was the crumble topping and the service thought they forgot my dessert when I ordered along with my meal.
Overall I would love to come back again and hopefully it will be a better experience. After all is our local pub so would really love to support it.
Had a wonderful time at the tavern, thanks to Jaime for being an amazing waiter and giving us great service
This is a very friendly place the people who run are very nice can not do enough to help with anything
Nice and spacious place
Roasted pork belly was 🔥🔥🔥
We had a great night out due to the fantastic new Manager. Thank you!
- Lovely style pub, with lots of space inside
- Great range of drinks (excellent real ale, etc.)
- Great food
- Lovely ambience, though a comparatively high noise level because of wooden floors (not a problem unless you like quiet spaces)
- Entering the pub takes time. You have to be processed at the entrance and escorted to your table (you cannot just walk in) This takes about 5 minutes per group, so there is always a queue to get into the pub.
- the staff seem busy working but not much happens. There is one person full-time registering people at the door and taking them to their table. Then another 1-2 bringing food and ALL drinks to tables. And while we were there, there was always 1-2 staff crowded round a till keying things in but not attending to customers. So at times you struggle to find anyone to serve you.
- Service is slloowww. You can order at the bar, via their website (see next point), or from a waiter/waitress. However in all cases they will bring your drinks to your table. Given all the staff being busy (above point), and with only 2 people behind the bar, at times when ordering drinks we were told the wait time was 10 minutes. So we ended up ordering the next drink as soon as we got served with one.
- the website is useless for ordering. We tried to use this to order but it bears no relation to what they have in stock. Four of us had the same starter - which showed as out of stock on the website - but was actually available. The Real Ale that I drank all evening wasn't even listed on the website....
Will definitely go back - we enjoyed our visit, the food, and the drinks. But if you're someone who expects things to happen as soon as you ask, be prepared to breathe deeply and just relax.........
Really lovely new menu and drinks to a great standard, lovely feeling when you walk into this pub !
Lunch at St Margarets Tavern was great. I was visiting the area for property viewings with my partner, and came across the Tavern by St Margarets station.
The staff were very friendly and equally professional, and the food was of a decent standard (if a little expensive, mainly the desserts). The pub garden was very good, and the noise levels from the adjacent roads was minimal.
Overall, a lovely experience, and I will definitely visit again.
Excellent service, friendly staff, enjoyable food , and good value for money.
Went for Sunday lunch just after lockdown easing and the place was very quiet. Food and service were fantastic and they had put very sensible measure in place to maintain distancing. A really lovely visit and a place I would recommend to everyone.
Perfect stop for a catch up. Dry well spaced out for the current situation, prompt and attention staff
Usually service is a lot better but obviously coming out of lockdown staffing numbers etc need to be adjusted etc., so we’ll forgive them the delay in getting mains to us. In their defence they addressed this with us (and not the other way around) and took some money off the bill. We’ll defo be going back as experience pre-lockdown has always been outstanding,
I was very disappointed as we have been several times before, and had a great experience - but sadly they have lost the plot totally.
Half of the menu given to us was not available to order, via the App, and was a very heavy menu (All very stodgey or fried - winter menu?) - Their ordering App kept crashing - would not let you place an order - even though it was accepted by my bank!
Worst thing was you couldn't pay any other way - over all a very poor experience - will not be going back!
Very nice pub will go there again food was lovely and very friendly
didn't actually have food - you need a N/A option! well organised without being obtrusive in the present circumstances - relief to be back (last with you on 13th March). Another thing - maybe add star rating for your modifications?
First time back after lockdown and to be honest it was a little disappointing.. beers were flat, food only ok'ish (a little cold) and the service poor..
We just had drinks, social distancing was great. Staff friendly and accommodating. My 1st visit to a pub in a long while. A lovely evening.
Really friendly attentive service. clean and covid safe. Great G&Ts and a delicious burger! Happy Days :)
The service was terribly slow and the food was average when it eventually arrived.
We have not been in the Tavern for a number of years, and shan’t be back soon. It has gone very down hill and the food is poor with many items being “sold out”. It is a shame as it was a great place to go and eat.
Had a lunch for mums and babies but service was very slow, the food arrived luke warm after a long wait and we were the only table in the pub. The dishes were disappointing (apparently the rice in the rice bowl is supposed to be cold and the salad bowls were mainly limp rocket). The chips were pretty good though - hence the two stars. We won’t be dining there again, which is a shame because it could be a great pub given the location and the building itself.
Good food, but odd service and there was almost nobody there in the main bar.
Service whilst nice were not attentive and pretty poor at actually serving.
Food was overpriced for what it was.
Disappointing really as it is a good pub to pop into for a drink. Won’t be back for food until they up their game.
A bit pricey for what it was but I can always count on St Margaret’s Tavern for a spot and decent food.
