Steamship Grill & Bar

Went out for Dine around with a friend. We each purchased the $30 combo which provided an appy, entree and dessert. All were well prepared and tasty! Service was very good. We sat outside under portable heaters on the patio which offered great views of the inner harbour. My top half stayed nice and toasty but my feet were very cold. Be sure to wear warm footwear if you plan on staying put for a while. All and all a lovely outing!

It was really bright and the decor could use some work.
Food was okay, service was poor.
Cocktails were not good so we drank beer.

all four of our meals were very bland, flavourless caesar drink, ceaser salad dressing was old garlicy mayo, “artisan” bread was plain toast with cold hard butter on the side, fries unseasoned, etc... service was decent, but will not go back

At the "host station" there was no acknowledgement, no greeting, no sorry for keeping you waiting. As this happened to the 2 parties in front of us it wasn't a one-time. It appeared that they didn't know what they were doing.
It took about 15 minutes to get menus and water.
One of us had the 3 course dinner and the entree was brought BEFORE the appetizer.
Water was never refilled. We weren't offered coffee.
It took 50 minutes to get dinner which was happening all around us even though the restaurant was no where near their 50% capacity.
The food was okay though lukewarm across the board.
given the prices you can do much much better at many other restaurants - better service, better food and better value.

Fantastic views and amazing food!

Lovely setup for social distancing happy hour. Delicious appetizers- we highly recommend the shrimp gyoza and crab cakes!

We hit the Happy Hour and the Coconut shrimp and calamari were amazing for $10 per plate. Very covid friendly, I would not hesitate to go back.

We came for my husbands birthday dinner. We sat on the outdoor covered patio with beautiful harbour views even though it rained. The heaters kept us warm and the service was always checking to make sure we were comfortable. The restaurant was quite quiet which is such a shame as even during COVID this restaurant has made you feel comfortable and safe and it’s still ok to dine with your spouse. The food was good and the ambiance was lovely.

They patio was open mid December. Fully covered and heated. Even though it was raining and windy it was cozy & warm. Of course the view of the Inner Harbour is always spectacular. Staff was excellent, moving heaters closer to us for our comfort. Happy hour was a good deal & lots of delicious options.

We went out for dinner as a family including 2 year old. Staff were wonderful, decorations were appreciated and the food was delicious and we felt very comfortable and spoilt. It was such a good thing to enjoy especially at this time with COVID.

Outdoor option is good. Appreciate gas-fired patio heaters.

Fabulous spot, exceptional service. Not a ton of vegetarian items on the menu and certainly not for the happy hour menu, but at least there were a couple of items. Prices are a little steep and given the location it’s understandable.

My husband and I shared a power bowl and the fish tacos. They were both excellent. The ambience was lovely, and people were seated at safe distances. Our waitress was polite and friendly, but we were a little disappointed with the service. She never returned to our table to refill our waters or ask if we wanted more coffee. We would eat there again, based on the quality of the food, but would hope for a little more attention from the wait staff.

The hosts were so accommodating. Letting us choose where to sit and making sure the patio was toasty while outside. The food was delicious and the drinks just absolute heaven! First time back in over 5 years and it's amazing as ever!

Happy hour was great! Applies were tasty & plentiful.

Amazing service and the food was top notch. Kitchen was able to modify a dish or two to accommodate allergies. Great night out and the patio had plenty of heaters and all the social distancing measures in place. Definitely will be back!

Service was wonderfully easy and polite. The server went out of his way to create a fun atmosphere and the hostess expected our arrival. A definite go-to place fora lovely meal.

Vacationing in Victoria and out for a birthday dinner.

Servers and service were fantastic and the food was great - steaks cooked to perfection.

We’ve eaten at Steamship several times and we’ve always enjoyed it. This time was unfortunately a little disappointing. The fault lies with management not scheduling enough staff. We dined around 7 pm on a Sunday. There were only two servers on duty, who were also hosting, bar tending and bussing tables. We waited for everything from being seated to getting drinks to having our order taken and paying our bill. We asked our server if someone had not shown up or if this was how management scheduled it, and she replied that everyone who was scheduled to work that night was working. Management needs to be more aware of their level of busyness and staff accordingly.

First visit, in need of a good meal out, however guess we picked the wrong place!

Halibut good , however would pass as a child’s portion on some restaurants.

Some people were outside on the patio area but since it was a cold night we decided to eat inside, We were just about finished our meal when the waitress sat 6 people in the table next to us, the seats back to back would not be 6 feet apart by any imagination
We just could not figure why a waitress with any sense would do this
Rather than say anything,( what’s the point) we got up and left, huge restaurant, dozens of tables and the waitress in her wisdom decided to seat us back to back,

Food took forever even though it was pretty empty. Left patio door open so it was cold inside. Burned the creme brûlée to where it was bitter

Overall the food was just "ok", we had the Chowder which was very good. We also had the Calamari which was pretty good. My main was a Noodle and Prawns dish with black beans... Infound my main to be very salty. I wouldn't go back if that was my only experience.

The server was super friendly, when he was there... not sure if it was a staffing issue or what, but the fella seemed to be only by very rarely. My guess is they were adjusting to new covid routines and maybe didn't have right amount of staff and got too busy.

I felt the place and menu was a bit of a let down because of the heritage and styling of the building on the Victoria Harbour, but I am not ready to rule this place out for another visit.

Awesome in-house made food, superb patio and you can not beat the view! This is our “gp-to local” for sure!

ordered steak that was supposed to be a baseball steak so i ordered accordingly, what i got was not a baseball steak it was overly chard and my wifes was the same. we sat at 6:30 ordered by 7 and got our food at 8:15 with only approximately 4-6 tables with seated guests. the couple we where with also had overcooked salmon. we received $10 off for the inconvenience but doubtful that we will return anytime soon. very slow kitchen.

Always lovely to sit on the patio under the heaters and take in the view of the Victoria Harbour with friends. Excellent appetizers.

Great service , breathtaking view and delicious food

Great food,but cold ( doors were left open possible due to providing ventilation from COVID-19) wait staff was a bit slow to respond (forgot to bring wine with the meal). I did learn that she is new, so we were forgiving.

Beautiful view ... food not so great & way over priced, staff delivered are food and said shrimp fell out on her walk over ..... 🤨

Service was great, food was good, it was relaxing, clean and a lovely time.

Had a wonderful patio seat and view. Food was as good as you could expect from a Grill and Bar.

The food was great, the view is amazing by the inner harbour and the services was amazing .

Good good but my steak was more rare than medium rare. The waiter pushed for MR but I should have had medium.

Josh was an attentive waiter and the location was beautiful.

It took a while for the host to acknowledge the couple in front of us which isn't a great experience. Our food was ok but nothing great. Our server who appeared to be the bartender too was very good.

Reunion with my niece

There for the second time for Happy Hour. Food selections overall are imaginative and delicious. Only one which was just ordinary was the calamari. Other choices were terrific! Appreciated having a heated patio during Covid time, and the view can't be beat. I'm looking forward to returning!

Terrible ambiance. Bright lights. Felt light a cafeteria. The food matched the atmosphere. So sad for a great location.
