   All the etaff are very kind and considerate. Food was absolutely delicious (especially carrot and ginger soup and the veal chop, and the omelet and the benedict).Benedict. Highly recommend if you are in the area. I think they were training up some new young staff, so the service was very good, but a work in progress.

   We went for our anniversary. The wait staff was sure to congratulate us, it said Happy Anniversary on the menu, and we got a signed copy of the menu from the chef. Those little touches combined with the amazing food made it such a delightful experience. We enjoyed the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Highly recommend.

   We visited the Ashby for a belated Valentine’s Day dinner. We chose the Chef’s Tasting Menu and added on the $110 wine pairing. The wine pairing is the main reason for the less than 5* review. For $110 we really felt like they could have chosen better wines. The Chardonnay served with the Butter Poached Lobster was so light we really questioned whether or not it was water. Save for a very slight taste on the finish it had zero taste at all. My husband’s red wine, served with the lamb, was also barely drinkable… other than that all of the dishes were wonderful except for my Sea Bass. I expected a beautiful little piece of Sea Bass filet but was served a flat piece that you can tell came from closer to the tail. I’ve always found those pieces to have a fishier taste and it was too fishy for me to eat. The creme brûlée was a fantastic finish though. We love chefs tasting menus and wine paired dinners but overall we didn’t feel that the experience was worth the price this time. If we did come back I think we would order off the regular menu and choose our own bottle of wine.

   Just a wonderful experience, as always. The service was top notch and the food was delicious. Of special note is the superb selection of wines and a most knowledgeable and helpful Sommelier, Stephen. Definitely worth a special trip.

    In a lovely part of Virginia you find the original homes from early 1800’s and a lovely inn with interesting, creative food. The meshing of flavors leave any diner feeling satiated in fine dining experience.

    We’ve been wanting to come to the Ashby iInn for sometime because we heard and read very good things and it suffice it to say it was disappointing. Very pricey for very little food. The food was mediocre and while our server was great the friendliness of the rest of the staff was lacking. Additionally we waited almost 15 minutes to be waited and served in their tap room. We were the only ones in there and finally decided to leave. We rarely give poor reviews but unfortunately this did not meet any standard that we are used to. We most likely will not be back.

    Very disappointed. Have been going to Ashby Inn for special events for years with amazing experiences. Sadly this experience was sub par. The menu was uninspiring and offered no filet as an entree as has been on the menu consistently. No signature/seasonal cocktails which has been the norm in the past. No green salad on the menu either. Usually we receive a chef sample mini bite/appetizer - no more. Reluctantly, we chose entrees that were very lackluster 0ur halibut was dry. For the increase in prices since Covid, the portions were extremely small and very overpriced. I was offered a 4 oz appetizer for $175 if I wanted to have steak. We had to make a special request to speak to the sommelier, where in the past their services were offered as we perused the menu. ON the positive side, the dessert - a berry cobbler - was good. The waiter was pleasant and our food was delivered promptly. FInally, we were seated at a table next to the bathroom and the waiter station. Very noisy with servers dropping bottles of wine right next to us and over hearing their internal conversations between wait staff, and guests complaining about their accommodation. We made a reservation a week in advance and the restaurant did not seem busy and was offered no other seating options in one of the dining rooms that were less noisy.

    We were charged $58 (yes $58) for a plain butter pasta for our children!!!! (same price as the truffle version). We didn’t say anything but found it very disappointing!!!

    Some of the best, tastiest food in the entire Northern Virginia region. A little gem! Service was extraordinary; we enjoyed chatting with the wait staff and learned a lot about the food, wine, and coffee. The French press coffee was REALLY good; coffee at breakfast not quite.

    The atmosphere is as charming as you would imagine a Virginia Inn to be....warm and delightful. Service was excellent. Staff never intrusive but always discreetly, artfully doing their job. Our meals were as always incredibly delicious. Presentation was lovely and if no one had been there I might have considered licking up the tiny bits of Dover Sole remaining on my plate ! Wines were excellent. I highly recommend.

    Very good, high quality food. Plan on spending about $10-15 per fork full though. You will spend about $50-60 on an entree and leave feeling a bit hungry. If the quantity of food on the plate was a bit more appropriate then I would give 5 stars for sure. My one year old would even leave hungry from these serving sizes…
