The Chateau on the Lake

Chateau is one of my favorite places to eat. The ambience was perfect for a romantic date night out with my husband.

The food is impeccable! My husband raves about their steak with their South African rub. It is absolutely delicious like no other steak you will have anywhere else.

The staff are fantastic as always. All are friendly and courteous. Not a long wait for the food either.

If we are staying in Lake George area, we always make sure to come here for dinner or one of the nights that we stay.

Had a very nice time! Would recommend. Excellent service and ambiance. Everything felt comfortable from a Covid standpoint. I thought the food was slightly under seasoned, though that could just be my palette. For reference, I never add additional salt to any restaurant dish. Everything was fresh and cooked appropriately. Somehow, the best two things we had were the seafood bisque soup special, and the side of mashed potatoes. Make sure to get those! Had 2 fish dishes, fish cooked to perfection. Sauces just under-seasoned. Lamb lollipops were delicious, soba noodles that came on the plate could have been left off. Get dessert!

Everything about dining (and staying) at the Chateau on the Lake was magnificent. The ambiance was peaceful and lovely. The cocktails available before and with dinner were inventive. The wine list was abundant with wonderful choices. We had the carpaccio for an appetizer and the meat was sliced so thin and served with fresh tomatoes and toasted capers. My husband had the steak special and it was flavored to perfection. My fish special was likewise wonderful. We also had the luxury of staying overnight at the Chateau and ordered the charcuterie plate to be delivered to the room upon our arrival. It went beyond any charcuterie plate I have ever had both in abundance, display and creativity. The Chateau on the Lake is a true class act. Can't wait to visit again.

Not only was the food simply some of the best ever!! The service and friendliness of the staff and owner were exemplary! We had an awesome experience we will always remember and are sure to return again! Owner personally made sure we were WELL taken care of! Wonderful dining experience both from a quality of food, service and ambience. It was the only true 5 star dining experience we found during our 3 day visit to Lake George. My wife had a filet mignon and I had the NY strip steak both of which were seasoned and prepared to perfection. The wine and alcohol list was extensive and the service polite and attentive. Its a bit pricey but considering the value we were not disappointed. I highly recommend for a quiet, romantic night of dining...not necessarily for a standard cascual family dinner with little ones.

Excellent food! Fantastic service. It would have been nice to sit out on the deck but it was cold & rainy. I would highly recommend. My friend had the red snapper and raved about it.

Everything was wonderful. However I made my reservation over a month ago. The party of four who checked in without a reservation and were told they would have to wait an hour - were all of a sudden given a table inside the dining room while my party of four was escorted to an outside table that was obviously not our original table as it was set for a party of two.
This did not ruin our evening but I found it very unprofessional. That party should have been given the outside table or I should have been asked my preference.

Very good food only complaint I have is they charge you to split food

The swordfish and lobster risotto was a great combination. The strip steak with truffle oil was delicious. The atmosphere is very unique and comfortable. It was a great eating experience.

Our server Laina was fantastic! She made our evening very special by paying attention to our needs while giving us the enough time to relax and enjoy our meal.
Off to the Races is a great cocktail, the mushroom truffle ravioli was light and delicious, my chef's cut was cooked perfectly and the creme brulee is worth saving room for!
The decor was charming and the environment was relaxed and warm. We felt very well taken care. I'm so glad we chose the Chateau to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary!

Ran out of fondue, crab legs, tough piece of meat, and broken chair. Bad experience overall

Absolutely amazing atmosphere and ambiance. Food was excellent and the desserts were even better. Great wine pairing recommendations too.

Enjoyed our dinner. Sea bass dinner we had was very tasty. Drinks and dessert were very good. Service by Fred and group spot on! Would recommend as a very pleasant dinner outdoors on the lake. What could be finer?

Anniversary trip

No better way to spend our Anniversary! Food was terrific and staff excellent. Thank you and we’ll see you soon.

We try and come whenever we are in the area. So good. Waitress was so sweet and food is always amazing

Our party of 4 was seated indoors due to the falling temperatures outdoors, but Covid safety procedures were followed for spacing and staff masks/shields. Our server was very efficient and knowledgeable, making great recommendations. The food is delicious and well presented. The only disappointment was the swordfish was not available this evening, so salmon was substituted in it’s place. Salmon is common at most fine dining restaurants, but swordfish is not so 2 of us were looking forward to it and had to choose an alternative. Chicken and rack of lamb were just fine, however. A very enjoyable meal!

Really nice even during covid. Pleasant and safe set up in the garden. Server Kim was super - pleasant and efficient and most importantly properly masked at all times coming to the table. Mushroom ravioli was super. Cod was a tad dry but overall very good food. Good wine and a fine bar as well. 9/10!

Portions were small for price. Service was good but not stellar. Expectations were high going in and they did not quite meet those expectations. Food was excellent and ambiance was great.

Everything was awesome, quiet and cozy. Food was excellent our waitress did a wonderful job and was attentive. It was our anniversary and it was perfect. Our waitress brought us complimentary glasses of champagne and we sat outside by the lake around a fire. The best night ever.

Great spot. Buddy Jr and his team are fantastic. The menu is always a treat.

Family came up from VA- they really enjoyed the experience. It was their first time dining out since Covid and they were surprisingly comfortable and felt safe

The food, along with the cost, was sorely disappointing. We don't mind paying for an expensive meal as long as we enjoy it, however, we did not enjoy anything about our meal. The service was poor, particularly since our drinks weren't refilled and we sat for quite some time once we had finished our meal before our waitress came back to us. We ended up driving to Lake George for ice cream because our meals were so unsatisfying. I would definitely not recommend this place or go back.

We had a great evening and a wonderful meal at the Chateau. Jackie sis a great job as our server. She was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious though the portions were too big if you want to have multiple courses. The wine selection was good. We would definitely go back

Wonderful restaurant in the heart of Boltons Landing- Excellent wine list- perfect for our special celebration! Wait staff was attentive and guided us on food and things to do in the area.
Outdoor seating complete with heaters - lights and a fire pit for s’mores. Pretty view of the lake.
Food was outstanding. Highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed. We stayed at the Chateau for 3 nights. Very charming. Beautiful rooms complete with fireplace. Loved every minute!

Everything was AWESOME!

As we are experiencing Covid restrictions in NYC, my husband and I traveled to Saratoga springs, lake George and Bolton landing for a weekend getaway for my husbands birthday. Each place has its own charm and definitely quiet this time of year.
I chose Chateau on the lake for a special dinner. Let’s start with the word Amazing! You have to experience this special restaurant. Amazing views, excellent service and every item on the menu is mouth watering and delicious. This is a restaurant that gets it right!

I was appalled by the lack of concern over COVID-19. Many, many of their waitstaff were NOT wearing face masks - despite a state law. Instead, they were wearing plastic face shields which do NOTHING to prevent the server's nose/mouth droplets from falling onto my food, my table, etc. Double-layered cloth face masks protect the customer. Period. (Single layer buffs or hankies are also ineffective.) I was appalled. The food was okay, but very expensive. Ambiance was nice.

Good but not great food. Beet salad and swordfish were bland. Excellent mushroom ravioli. Seriously overpriced. Good service. We would not come here again—definitely not worth the inflated prices.
