The Chocolate Bar
Our server was very nice and personal. The hostess greeted us when we came through the door and wished my girlfriend a happy birthday, which I’d added as a note with my reservation. We had tickets to see a show, so after we told our server, our food came more quickly than the drinks initially came. Otherwise, the food was delicious and a good value. The alcohol was more expensive than similar restaurants. The chocolate drinks were AMAZING. The experience was very, very nice.
The service was quite slow for the fact that when we arrived, the place was almost empty (it was close to full by the time we left). We had to ask the waitress to check on a question we had multiple times and she never actually gave us an answer. The food itself was delicious, though. I highly recommend the chocolate pretzel martini and the chocolate baguette!
Martinis are best I ever had! Food was good and service super friendly. Cannot wait you go back! S’mores martini is a must have!!!
Waited 45 minutes before a server came to us and that was only because I waved her over. Drink orders were taken and we waited almost 30 minutes for those to arrive. Food was slow and sub-par. We spent two hours there due to awful service. Not worth the money.
The Chocolate Bar's food was excellent. They are going thru a remodel so we can't wait to see the new updates. They just need more staff they seemed a bit short handed. Other that that everything was great...
Was a very good experience, very quick service. Was out in a hour which was great because I was going to be going to a concert later that night
Our server was rude, it took 45 minutes to get a drink, our salads were under dressed, our soup was cold and our main entrees were cold. I loved The Chocolate Bar but I can confidently say I won’t ever be back.
Came here for restaurant week! Delicious martinis and dip your own berries were the bomb!
We were met at the door by a host wearing shorts, crocks and high socks who also couldn't figure out the electronic seating computer. We both ordered the chicken and waffles, the chicken was barely breaded and had no flavor. When desert came around the Oreo mud was actually pretty good but the server scoffed when we asked for utensils to eat our desert. We were here a few years ago and had a much better experience. I am hoping we just had a fluke bad day but the standards appeared to have drastically dropped.
Chocolate matinis were great. Ive had almost all of them in my many travels to buffalo. The food was not so great. Steak was cold and dry. 3 lousy pieces of asparagus came with it. The salad was wilted. Extremely hot upstairs. Service was slow.
Everything was good except we waited 20 minutes before someone actually acknowledged us at our table and the only reason someone came over is because I asked one of the staff who was supposed to come serving us. Otherwise the food was good and I love the chocolate martinis.
Worst experience. My Friends meals had hair in it. It was re made after waiting 15 minutes just to get someone’s attention. Second meal was awful and way over cooked meat. I ordered a filet that was also hard and dry and wayyyyyy over cooked. I didn’t want to complain at that point bc it was my birthday. We ended up canceling our martinis bc we sat there and watched them sit at the bar and we weren’t being served them until we found the manager ourselves to ask him to cancel . He ended up bringing them over on the house but I rather pay for good service . We were there for OVER 3 hours bc we had to wait for everything. It was not a good experience esp bc I was in town to celebrate my birthday and I really think it ruined the start of the night .
Very poor service. It took 25 minutes after being seated for drink orders to be taken. Asked for salt and pepper. Never got it.
The filet was so hard to cut that we could barely get the knife through it! But not sure I should have expected too much with the price. If you like their chicken and waffles, that was definitely the item to get during Restaurant Week.
Chicken was very bland and only 2 small pieces came with chicken and waffles. Ceased salad had no dressing and no kids menu for restaurant week. Strawberries were old also. Waffles were good.
I am always pleased when I go to the Chocolate Bar, the food is excellent, and you can't go wrong when it is Restaurant Week, this is truly a bang for your buck. Our waitress Lily was the waitress with the mostest, if that is a word, very friendly and personable, she was the icing on the cake, and speaking of cake that chocolate mousse was a master piece. As you can tell I really enjoyed my dining experience.
Food great value great.. however for restaurant night very very understaffed!! Waited for everything way too long.. not waitresses fault!!
Getting seated in the corner left us forgotten. Our server brought the wring drink but did correct it. It took a long time to get our drinks.
Terrible service, food was cold and salad was soggy by the time we got it. Went for restaurant week and won’t be back. The martini was good
Perfect dining experience for restaurant week and before heading to a concert. It was noted before we dined that it could be a 2 hour event, which worked out well timing wise as we were able to enjoy all 3 courses and a bottle of wine. Atmosphere was fun and busy- downtown vibe.
The overall experience was OK. The restaurant should be mindful that the waitress is going up and down the stairs caused her to sweat which made me nervous that her sweat was going to drip into my drink or my plate. The waitress was visibly warm as sweat pool to her face and maybe she should be on the first floor and not be asked to do the two floors on a busy night like restaurant week. Also in efforts to not do many trips up and down the stairs the waitress also carried glasses of wine practically in her armpit and as the night went on a bottle of wine was in her armpit as she carried a bottle of wine and four glasses of wine up the stairs at one time.
Food is always very good and at a reasonable price. The staff is always pleasant and professional.
The Chocolate Bar Restaurant is an urban restaurant in downtown Buffalo NY. We
visited during restaurant week when reservations were required. Very busy, tables
closer together than our last visit. Construction scaffolding on the building.
Parking on the street. No wait for our table, service was excellent. The boozy shakes were delightful,
as was my filet mignon and partners ravioli.
It was great for restaurant week except it took a while for the waitress to get to us when we got there and also my food was cold. Especially the SOUP I got!!!!!
Amazing food and service! The filet was done to perfection.
Great! Make sure Lily is your server! She’s the best❤️❤️❤️ steak is AMAZING
Really a great experience! It was the first time we went out to dinner with our 9 mo old so we weren’t really sure how it was going to go, especially with a large group of us. Everyone was wonderful! Dinner was delicious and also came quickly. If a toy was dropped, the host made an attempt to help us get it (my husband was on it)- the effort was appreciated. Thanks for making this a relaxing dinner out.
I would put this on par with going out to Applebees. The food is fine, and the novelty of picking from a large selection of chocolate options is fun. This is not a foodie's paradise or anything, but it was a good night out with my husband indulging in chocolate. :-)
Food took an 45 minutes and it wasn’t good. Drinks were good though
Service was terrible. 2 servers and manager. Took 40 min to get 2 sandwiches and salad and many tables open. Manager standing outside smoking while tables not being serviced
Excellent Main courses, and desserts exquisite service
Food was not as tasty as it seemed. Cajun and shrimp pasta was more like frozen pasta warmed in microwave, shrimps were delicious. Dessert was a big disappointment. Waitress was very pleasant and made the experience a little better.
My friend and I had reservations and were not treated by a waitress until after 15 min of being seated where we immediately ordered our food and drinks. We didn’t receive our drinks for about another 15 mins and, unfortunately we never got to eat our food and had to get it to go because we were going to see a show, this was an hour and a half after we were seated our show was going to begin in 15 mins and we still had not gotten our food, the restaurant was not even that busy. Considering the location is very small and there were approximately 8 open tables this was unacceptable service and we were very disappointed. We have been there a few times before and each time the service is always very slow but this time was the worst it’s ever been, very unfortunate considering how much I enjoy it there.
We went before our show at Sheas. Serice was slow but I could tell they were short staffed. Food took longer to come out but was delicious.
We never got to eat. Reservation was at 6. At 6:30 we still had not received water so we walked out as we booked early enough to not be rushed to an event.
I understand they must have been short staffed but no acknowledgement or anything. Unfortunate.
Waited to be seated for ~10 minutes with a line of other people who walked in around the same time as us. It wasn’t busy. The service is just like that almost every time we’ve been here. It’s not good enough to wait as long as we usually do- to be seated, for the food, for the check, etc. So we left. Too many other options around the area for that.
The experience was good. The service was good along with food was pricey side of things
The place has gone down hill. It was messy and unprofessional. I’ll never visit this place again and it’s a shame it’s tied to a great hotel chain. I’ll will also let the Hilton group know it’s bad to have this related to their property.
this is a fun place, many things on menu bar food but some nice entrees.
very relaxed pleasant atmosphere, might be different later on in day.
the cholate creations were show stoppers.
here for college move-in, will be back with student.
