Food was tasty, staff were friendly and accommodating for the usual things but what really stood out was their attention to detail re: nut allergy. They took is very seriously and were really communicative with us and chef. We felt really comfortable with the food we ordered.

A bit disappointing, no real selection of gluten-free and rather lacklustre sausage roll! Seems to be different staff.

Poor Sunday roast, overcooked and overpriced. Would not go back.

Very disappointed by the food, we ordered 3 roasts and they were tasteless. The sides of roast potatoes, carrots and cabbage and no flavour and the Yorkshire pudding was flavourless and soft. We also ordered a sharing starter board which never came and our first drinks order wasn’t correct. It was a really shame as we have had many other roasts in the area, as we are locals and it really wasn’t up to standard, especially as the pub is in a prime spot.

The filling is from 'Moving Mountains' which use all natural plant based ingredients, so I'm sorry you found this tasteless. The food was disappointing. Fish was soggy and lacked flavour. Tiny portion of lacklustre chips. Rather pricey for what it was. Outdoor area nice. Staff were a bit all over the place, often has to ask for things twice. Probably wouldn’t return.

We use Sole for our fish and chips so I'm sorry you found this lacked flavour and was soggy, I'll speak to the kitchen team about seasoning though they usually get this spot on. The service was really good but sadly not the quality of the food. We’ve been there many times pre pandemic and it’s a shame to see this, very expensive and we will not go back to eat, maybe just drinks although most of the tables are in the car park so not a great atmosphere.

Disappointing. Service on arrival poor - left waiting whilst 3 staff members chatted at bar - and then somewhat chaotic afterwards. Food biggest letdown; vegan starter arrived without its main element, and mains were pretty average quality at top pub prices. Pub car park made into eating area, but really needed to be more thoughtfully done with heaters/ blankets etc if charging top prices.
I'm sorry to hear of your poor experience here. I've spoken to the duty manager and am glad he rectified the food promptly for you. The gas for the heaters has unfortunately been an ongoing issue as we're at the mercy of the supplier. Orders are taking in the region of 2 weeks and they'll only replace empties, not give us more. We did manage to source furniture, a marquee and umbrellas,though I agree blankets would have been great as well had we foreseen this unseasonably cold weather.
Six of us sat outdoors from 6.30 to 8.30pm on Thursday 6th May. Food was very good, staff efficient and friendly but no heating. When enquiring about it was told that the heaters were broken for some time. Surely when reopening under the new guidelines, heating would be a priority. I would not go back until the heaters are operational again which is a shame as I really like it there.

The heaters are fully functional but out of gas - they only replace empty ones so we can't order extra, we have to wait until we nearly run out and then order. Unfortunately there is then a delay from the suppler of, it seems, a couple of weeks - they say they will arrive and then postpone almost daily. We're as frustrated as you but sadly we're at the mercy of others. Fingers crossed the weather will warm up soon, Ian

"Normal" burger; as per waiter was nice, not as nice as the menu made it out to sound. Chips were nice. Vegan burger; which my friend had, said it was good and so was the fish and chips. Avoid grilled chicken off of the kids menu as it came out with undercooked skin on so less than half of it was eaten as it looked unappetising and it came with mashed potatoes instead of new potatoes which was on the menu.

I've checked all our kids menus and they say mashed potato so I can only assume an old menu somehow found it's way to you, for which I can only apologise. The chicken is all thoroughly cooked and probed to ensure it's cooked through, but I'll ask the kitchen to ensure they get some more colour on it so it looks more appealing. Not really happy, but not bad bad. Burger was nothing special for £16. £32 Malbec was no better than a Tesco £6 one. No sauce with the chips. No prompt service.
Again, no bad bad. However, I would look elsewhere.

I'm sorry you found our food and drinks a little disappointing - our wines generally come from smaller producers and the Malbec is certified organic so this can add a little to the cost. Sauces are normally given now upon request to reduce contact points, but they certainly should have been offered so sorry if they weren't. Restrictions considered the City Barge are doing a decent job with their car park eating area. Service could have been a bit more knowledgeable about the menu and attentive + good job I spotted the extra bottle of wine that slipped onto the bill before paying. Overall - a nice first pub night out post lockdown though.

Food was really good as always but service was ridiculously slow and servers inexperienced. The service has actually put us off coming again unfortunately

Really enjoyed our long awaited night out at the City Barge last night. Although the service was a bit slow due to new staff the assistant manger went above and beyond to sort out any delays and the food was lovely!

We had a great time at the City Barge, food was amazing and service was good, considering they were very busy, the staff were great! and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this place! - also the location is beautiful, nice and quiet overlooking the River Thames - Bliss! we will definitely be back soon.

A favourite spot along the river, 3 pubs to choose from, only let down by being overpriced on food and also wine, needed ice cubes...

There was one pyramid style heater and we were nowhere near it, so we were very cold! The people next to us were smoking and their smoke was blowing straight at us while we were eating, which wasn't great. I was hungry when I got home, which gives you an indication of the generosity of the portions. So some things will improve when we can go back inside, but I won't necessarily be rushing back.

Everything was excellent and the decor there was no outside heating on a cold rainy evening. I understand they had no delivery of gas cylinders.

Customer service was awful. We waited over 10 minutes to get seated to a dirty table to then have a waitress to get up and move from this table.

Asked to be moved to a table in the sunshine without any joy. The table was vacant for 45 mins and then somebody else asked to be moved and they were. maybe they were regulars or I asked the wrong person......

Very good food at city barge and nice new seating area but at £17 for fish and chips, it’s definitely one of the pricier options in the Chiswick/Kew area.
