The Compass Tavern
The meal was great! No wait time. Excellent service.
I was so disappointed with our evening. We only go out once a week and try and patronize a different place to help as many places as we can. This place was dumpy. Our table was sticky and not because it was dirty but because the peeled the top coat off of the table. Everything and I mean everything stuck to it. The menus, the napkin the plates and my clothes. It had a very strange odor throughout that hit you as soon as you walked in. The manager (?) was wearing a mask but barely. He wore it below his nose just barely covering his mouth as he seated and walked about the restaurant and behind the bar. I can’t believe once they put my salad together they looked at it and were happy with how it looked and sent it out. The “grilled” romaine was so limp and wet. And it was the smallest dinner salad i had ever seen. This place was just bad. From the ripped booth seats to the sticky tables and they charge for water? Not a huge deal but really charge for tap water? I can set with absolute certainty we will never try here again.
1st time there. We sat outside and it was nice. The food and sizes were good. The waitress that was the trainer was not so good. The trainee was better. The trainer did not seem like she wanted to be there, she brought out our check and didn’t ask if we wanted dessert or anything else. We got the point
Well come back for that another time.
Unfortunately, waitress was not on her game that night. Waited for drinks alot, seldom stopped by the table. Food was just ok. Not fantastic, but wasn't terrible. Great place to sit outside and have a few drinks.
We booked a table for 5 for my brother's birthday. Service was great! Prime rib was very good and my baked haddock and vegetables was just right for me. Thanks everyone at the Compass Tavern!
None of the staff including bouncer and waitress were wearing masks. No social distancing. Will not recommend. Should be shut down.
Went to grab a meal with friends. We walked in the restaurant, and no one was wearing their masks or gloves. We were seated outside, and the menus were reusable, when they should be single use due to Covid-19. They clearly weren’t wiped either, as they were sticky. Our waitress never told us her name, and wore her mask as a chin strap the entire meal. My friends and I felt super uncomfortable, but since we were there already and hungry, we stayed. We never saw anyone enter the building wearing masks except for us. First and last time eating at this establishment. Please train your staff on the importance of masks and proper sanitation. My friends and I are all in the food service industry; we were appalled at your lax enforcement of government guidelines against the pandemic.
It was our first time here for a couple night out. The first table we were seated at smelled like a sewer so we moved to another one. That one barely sat 6 of us, and the table top was not wiped down fully. Food was average at best, nothing special. The server did her best and was friendly. I just wouldn’t go back here unless I was hanging at the bar. Definitely a one and done place to eat. Kind of disappointing.
Busy place pregame crowd was fun
We made a 5:45 PM reservation because we had an event at DCU starting at 7 PM. I assumed that bar type food we would be in and out within an hour or so. We didn’t get our dinner till after 7 PM and our son never got his chicken fingers. It took more than 15 minutes for a waitress to even come and give us water. The food was just reheated, you could tell because the pulled pork was hot in some places in cold and others. The waitress was sweet and apologized, which it’s not her fault. The restaurant was understaffed and it seem like the kitchen was too small to accommodate all the people they sat. You would think being so close to DCU that they would be accustomed to being busy. I would avoid there are so many better restaurants in the area if you have the time.
Do not go here to eat before a game! Had a reservation, sat at 5:30, our drink order was taken at 5:50. Placed food order at 6 & never got the food! Had to cancel the food order at 6:50 because show at DCU started at 7!
The staff was very friendly. The food was good.
I had the most amazing experience at Compass Tavern on Valentine's Day, and I have not been able to stop talking about it! I took my aunt out for dinner, as she had very recently lost her husband, and this would be her first holiday without him. Our waitress, Delaney, could not have made the experience better for us. Not only were we able to dine on the most AMAZING pre fixe menu (lobster rangoon app, two amazing seafood dishes, chocolate cake AND a bottle of wine for $60? THANK YOU!) but it was the first time in weeks we were both able to relax, enjoy the food and the company, and not feel rushed at all. Before we knew it we had been there 2 1/2 hours and not once did Delaney try to push us out. The food was served at the perfect intervals and was so delicious and fresh. I wish I was Mark Wahlberg and could have afforded to leave her a $5,000 tip because she deserved it :)
Good place for drinks
Food was ok
Service subpar— took over 45 min for food and wasn’t super crowded. Waitress didn’t notice the delay
Staff was busy socializing among themselves.
Our plan was to attend an event there. We got there early for dinner and drinks as the organizers said' light fare". They clearly were not prepared for the masses who planned to do the same as we did . Our waitress was barely there, our order was not completely entered and when those who didn't get food went to have something at the venue there was really no place to sit or eat.
The owner , even our poor (I suspect green ) waitress were quite apologetic. It was clear they were rushing around to the point of near frenzied state. But in the end , they did apologize, gave us credit towards the meals messed up and the event itself was awesome.
I love the Compass. Have been there several times but this was my first time with an event at this scale. Lessons learned- I anticipate this won't happen again.
Very friendly staff and the food was scrumptious! Very busy place with plenty of parking available. Great sports bar....many TVs!
Wanted a quick bite to eat before the Railers hockey game. 4 adults and one toddler. Kevin our server was very attentive and took care of the two of us while we waited for the other three to arrive. Drinks refilled promptly. Toddlers order out in right away. Food was good, nothing spectacular, but just what we expected. Good value and fast service. We will be back.
Wide variety of food, including gluten free options (and a lot of them!). Very reasonable prices & great service! We are DEFINITELY going back!!!!!
The staff was very nice and the entertainment was great. The food was good. I will revisit.
Great Pub Grub. My mother ordered the Taco Pizza, my wife the Ruben and I had Grilled Chicken Quesadilla, an appetizer. All three arrived together at the proper temperature.
That's a well run kitchen.
Everything was great except I think the outside seating area needs updating. We traveled there because it had outdoor seating but were kind of disappointed with the chairs and tables; They need new ones.
Prices were reasonable, food was good. Enjoyed the set up of the restaurant. The bar is in the center; which is a decent size bar. Nice high back booths. When we went the noise wasn't too loud were you're yelling to talk. Overall great experience and would return.
