Food and service were excellent. Very welcoming, staff very friendly and polite.
Love the desert trolley, the biggest problem there is your spoilt for choice .
Brilliant food, lovely relaxed atmosphere.
Staff efficient and friendly.
The food is served hot and staff are polite. The vegetable choice was limited and speaking to the serving staff, they said they couldn't offer an alternative. Speaking to a manager, she very helpfully did provide an alternative and very promptly too.
The Sunday's are always busy but the food and experience are very good and it is very good value for money.
Food was great but the veg was very hard and the portion of fillet steak was poor
The food was amazing - the service was really good - very nice to be properly served your meal the old fashioned way! The sweet trolley was wonderful!
My only gripe is that we were packed in like sardines - we were there on a Sunday lunchtime and it was very busy. We had a table for two which was bordering on uncomfortably close to another big table. Would have liked a little bit more room especially as it was very warm even with the air conditioning, but overall a lovely meal.
We booked a table for 8 people to celebrate a birthday and we all enjoyed the attentive service and excellent food. As it was mid-week, there was a special set menu some of us chose from, and some chose from the main menu. Everything was served in a timely manner and tasted amazing.
Very efficient and friendly service and excellent food. Top value all round.
Easy to book. Nice welcome, Food was delicious and the service was good. Air conditioning was a bit chilly but turned down when we mentioned it. Couldn’t fault the experience
I have dined at The Cranleigh over the years and it is still so good. The food, staff & standards never disappoint
Food of high standard, plentiful. Staff friendly and helpful.
Lovely lunch as usual for Fathers Day
From the moment we arrived the staff were polite, friendly and professional. The food was very good and very large portions as were the desserts. Very pleasant evening.
excellent food delivered with care and attention to detail. Well worth a visit
The restaurant was lovely. Food tasted good and service was excellent. I ordered sirloin steak which was very fatty. I asked for it “rare” but it came out “medium”. It was taken away and re cooked, then came out “blue”. Very disappointing. I was offered another re-cook but I declined as my dinner date had finished eating her main. There was no offer if any discount off the bill and the service charge was included which considering the circumstances.
Good food, service and atmosphere. Great for special occassions. Will certainly go again.
Had a great evening at the Cranleigh staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.
Staff very attentive great atmosphere food supurb. Will definitely be going back.
Continues to be a great place for Silver Service Sunday Lunch, and on this occasion, although I was there simply to spare my beloved’s palate my culinary delights, the venue was booked for a number of celebratory events. Despite this, my beloved and I were able to enjoy each other’s company without feeling intruded upon. We’ll be back!
Staff very attentive food was excellent would recommend
Service and food outstanding
We had a wonderful Easter Sunday meal with family.
My wife and I have been to this restaurant for Sunday lunch on other occasions and found it enjoyable. On this occasion it was just my wife and I and our experience was disappointing.
When engaging with staff we found them to be pleasant and hardworking.
The Cranleigh seems best suited to larger groups and especially families of all aged groups, clearly we did not fall into this category and therefore missed out on the attention to detail that the larger parties were given.
We were not offered a carafe of water until we had almost finished our dessert, we were not offered bread from the bread basket despite butter already on the table and we were not offered any condiments with our main course and couldn’t attract the attention of staff to ask for any.
All of the above were offered to the diners elsewhere in the restaurant.
This restaurant is clearly enjoyed by many people and was busy on Easter Sunday but sadly for us as a lone couple it didn’t work on any level.
The food is plentiful but the quality of ingredients and the cooking at best can only be rated as fair.
We wouldn’t choose this restaurant again nor would we recommend it to others.
We enjoyed our meal and had managed to get a table although we only booked online at 6:40 for 7:30 pm.
Very few customers - maybe because it was a Thursday evening. The food was delicious - starters were breaded garlic mushrooms and prawn cocktail. The main course was grilled sea bass - lovely crispy skin. We would have liked new potatoes with the green beans which we had to order separately. The sea bass was a little dry (probably at the expense of the crispy skin and 2 sea bass fillets each would have sufficed as they were very thick). The portions are a little large, we feel, because we had no room for the Cranleigh’s renowned dessert trolley! Food was served quickly and the service was friendly and attentive. Certainly we would return again but have mains and desserts as our two courses!
Enjoyed a very good three course meal with my wife on Saturday -t he dessert trolley selection was especially amazing. We were also impressed how the staff manged to ensure courses were served in good time despite having several large parties that evening. Next time we dine at the Cranleigh we hope we can sit or book the table for two in the window bay which we would have preferred.
Had my birthday dinner at The Cranleigh recently and it was great. The staff were accommodating and flexible, food and ambience were great. I'd definitely recommend to friends.
Everything spot on . Very professional. The duck in blackcurrent sauce was especially delicious.
Great food, thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were very polite & professional.
Having used this restaurant numerous times over the years we were unfortunately not impressed on this occasion. The steak expensive for what it was and seemed to lack something that it needed to warrant the price. The chicken was a little dry and the sauce on the lamb was a bit overwhelming. The vegetable medley was only passable and by the time we reached the sweet trolley a lot of it had gone reducing choices. All in all it is unlikely that we will return anytime soon
We love coming back for those special occasions. Staff always friendly and really want to provide the best serve for the customer.....nothing too much trouble. Food excellent as always.
The Pros - the service was great, very attentive. It was a birthday and they sang and brought out a birthday cake, which was unexpected and a nice surprise. It was great that they had a vegan menu.
The Cons - the meat/fish on the Sunday lunch wasn't very good, either taste, the cut of meat or the way it was cooked. We sent back 3 meals. No non-dairy milk, so even though they serve a vegan menu, we could not have tea or coffee. It seemed quite small in there, and felt a bit cramped, although there was a very big table of people which may have changed the usual layout. The clientelle consisted mostly of older people and families, not much ambience.
I am delighted to hear that the service was great and attentive. Despite our best efforts, replacing meals you were unhappy with, we were unable to please you. All the other diners eating from the same menu were delighted with the food which is evident from the review posted immediately after yours which was a diner from Sunday and they have given a 5 star rating and expressed how wonderful everything was. It is amazing that you were in the same restaurant.
As always, great service and food.
Such a good service we will be back and let others know about it was great
the second time we been their and would go again lovely food portions fab, wish their was a steak on the three course meal set menu. not the cheapest place but lovely food and service excellent. compliments to chief x
Had a great time food was amazing staff very friendly the only think I would change is staff coming around with sweet trolley every 2to 5 mins coming past you stopping by the side or the back of you
The food and the waiting staff were excellent but the night was spoilt when were were having a pre meal drink our table was changed and given to another couple. Were were shown to a table at the rear corner of the banquet suit and we knew that the table reserved for us was in the front close to the entertainer.
I strongly complained and we were then given someone else's table who hadn't arrived yet and noticed that they were then given the table that we had refused.
It was my partners 65th birthday, the service & the food was excellent & good value for money.
Nice lunch but seating was a little close to kitchen. We were near a busy doorway ànd, although not disturbed , it was a bit close.
Food was very nice but even though we did say we weren't having a starter we were lead to our table from the bar area, and told our table was ready but we waited about half an hour for our main meal. I do realise it was our choice to miss the starter but we feel this wasn't passed on to dining room or waiter. Also my father wasn't quite finished and his food was whipped away too fast.
This is the second time I have been here and again the food and service is second to none.... the sirloin steak is amazing .
The Cranleigh consistently provides great service (attentive without being obtrusive), and although the restaurant was full and there were two parties being catered for, my wife and I were able to enjoy each other’s company. We’ll be returning in two weeks; then being one such party to be catered for.
